Manny Villar[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your note explaining your problems with this material. There seem to be quite a diversity of sources in that section. Do you allege that they are all unreliable sources? If not, it would be best to explain the problems you have with individual sources at the article's talk page and remove only those which you think do not meet the reliable source guideline. If you believe the whole section is unreliable, it would be good to explain why these sources are unreliable so that those unfamiliar with news sources of the area can understand. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:39, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your well wishes. I'm sorry that you feel discouraged, and I would be happy to help you work through the processes. It's unfortunate that I am not familiar with publications of the Philippines myself, so it is hard for me to judge what sources may be reliable there to help you. Being a resident of the United States, I would know immediately that, for instance, a reference to our The National Enquirer would not be a good one. But I know nothing about The Philippine Star, Philippine Daily Inquirer or ABS–CBN Broadcasting Corporation. I also know little about Manny Villar, whose article I started watching only because it was used to violate our copyright policy.
If you decide you would like to pursue it further, the thing to do, if these are not good media sources, is explain why. Or, if they are good media sources but you feel like the article itself is being biased, you can explain that also. I'd be happy to help bring attention to the issue from other editors if you do so. Articles on Wikipedia are developed by consensus, so if other editors should happen to agree with your reasoning, the article will be improved. Alternatively, you can revise the text yourself, as long as you follow the basic policies of neutrality and verifiability. We generally encourage contributors to be bold, but when it comes to articles about people who are alive, a little more caution is a good idea. We have a special policy related to such articles, WP:BLP. While articles about living people may include some unflattering information, we do have strict sourcing requirements for those. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:27, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
