May 2020[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from uploading disruptive images with no encyclopedic value, such as Stromboli. It is considered vandalism. The picture isn't very good. It could be any island. Nothing distinct or informative about the image. Please don't edit war, WP:WAR. Zefr (talk) 05:39, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I took this picture myself. This is stromboli the island and it is descriptive and not any island. In the corner of the picture you can see the catello ruffo of scilla calabria which if you had looked further into you would noticed.
Keep in mind an image for the encyclopedia should be easily interpretable to any user. Your picture is not informative in any special way. The encyclopedia is not a collection of images for any given topic - there's a policy called WP:NOTGALLERY, i.e., don't upload your favorite travel pictures as a place to show friends your camera shots. Welcome to Wikipedia[edit]

Hi Koala234, welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed you made an edit on the Scilla, Calabria page, which I am watching. The addition of a history section is quite useful as it helps explain the mythological aspect of the name and place, so thank you for doing that. I made a few corrections to the sentence structure and I removed a redundant image at the bottom of the page, but apart from that, it looks great, keep up the good work! werewolf (talk) 02:09, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits[edit]

Hi - it seems you are a rather new editor. After someone reverts you, the community standard isn't to edit war your edits back in. You take the issues to the article talk page, or to here. I'll explain to you the problems that prompted my changes. ɱ (talk) 13:02, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Firstly, as for the Gossip Girl entry: "popular culture" sections don't just get every passing mention or appearance. How many episodes are set or filmed in Bedford? Are any at all? The source you give just mentions it once, no real information about it. Most of these other entries relate to large screentime, or significant entries into the popular culture. Many relate to multiple areas in Westchester. You can still try adding this entry to the article Bedford, New York, but you should evaluate if the show even shows Bedford at all. ɱ (talk) 13:06, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Secondly, for the bridge photo: sections on transportation generally focus on current forms of transit, sometimes with a slight historical note, but it's not the place to showcase old bridges. Anyhow, the lead image in the article shows the old and new bridges still, so this is enough of a duplicate. ɱ (talk) 13:08, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Third is the White Plains photo. This exact image actually appears at the top of the article, making it a duplicate. As well, its placement was awkward, moving some tables into the middle of the page and squishing the text.
  • As for your last edit, images in a city, county, or state article are supposed to be among the most well-known representations of the place, and its largest attractions. If you want to show a natural setting in Westchester, consider the Rockefeller State Park in the middle of Westchester, Pound Ridge Reservation, Teatown Lake Reservation, Blue Mountain Park... The article does already show the forested New Croton Reservoir. Perhaps consider creating a section under "Geography" for natural areas, and including one or two images. But adding your own photos of a private preserve (running into the "Government" section) of a place I've never even heard of isn't exactly proper for this article. ɱ (talk) 13:20, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
