WHACK![edit]

Whacking with a wet trout or trouting is a common practice on Wikipedia when experienced editors slip up and make a silly mistake. It, along with sentencing to the village stocks, is used to resolve one-off instances of seemingly silly behavior amongst normally constructive community members, as opposed to long term patterns of disruptive edits, which earn warnings and blocks.

The above is a WikiTrout (Oncorhynchus macrowikipediensis), used to make subtle adjustments to the clue levels of experienced Wikipedians.

To whack a user with a wet trout, simply place {{trout}} on their talk page.

Hope your enjoying your break. I've been working on the Thriller album, I expanded the lead (per your suggestion) and added a "background" section. On your return could you CE the lead and new section? No need to rush, I don't expect to hear from you within a week or so, but I though I wound ask now in case I forget. Cheers, will get this 1993 allegations to GA then I will nom Thriller for FA. Do you know any websites that would provide critical analysis of this song. I nominated that article for deletion (see the talk page) but after working with another editor on it, I thought it was a worthwhile article and withdrew the nomination. Since there isn't all that much to write about (it wasn't a single or anything), it shouldn't be too hard to get it to GA. Peer reviews[edit]

Hey, I'm Hunter. I just put my article for Sebastian Shaw, the stage actor best known for Return of the Jedi, up for a peer review with an eye on a possible featured article status down the road. I'm really pretty new to the Wikipedia thing, but the peer review thing said the best way to go about it was to ask others to peer review it and review their stuff in exchange. I'm not sure if Shaw falls into your area of interest, but I'm a big Beatles fan and would love to review your Strawberry Fields Forever article, if you'd perhaps like to give my Shaw one a whirl?

I did a Peer Review. Thanks for your offer to review Strawberry Fields Forever; I really appreciate it. For your article, I would recommend fixing the suggestions, maybe getting a few more comments from other editors, then maybe putting it up for Good Article status. If you pass that, then you'll have a better chance to get to Featured article status instead of going straight to it. And if it does pass Good Article, then put another Peer Review. Don't go to Featured Article Review until you're ABSOLUTELY SURE that your article is tip-top. Because trust me, Featured Article Review is pure hell, with a capital H. Cheers! CE question on SFF[edit]

I'm not a topic expert, but there appears to be a discrepancy in two different articles, and the sources cited for both are offline, so I can't check them.

From Strawberry Field: One of Lennon's childhood treats was the garden party that took place each summer in the grounds of Strawberry Field. Lennon's Aunt Mimi recalled: "As soon as we could hear The Salvation Army band starting, John would jump up and down shouting, 'Mimi, come on. We're going to be late

From Strawberry Fields Forever: One of Lennon's childhood treats was the fête held each summer in Calderstones Park every year, where a Salvation Army band played. Lennon's aunt Mimi Smith recalled: "As soon as we could hear the Salvation Army band starting, Lennon would jump up and down shouting, 'Mimi, come on. We're going to be late.'

So which is it, or is it both? Was the "garden party/fete" in Calderstones Park or on Strawberry Field grounds? Is one of them inside the other? Help this poor colonist out. :-) Keeper ǀ 76 17:36, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I'm from the good 'ole US of A too, you know! And as such, I wouldn't know off the top of my head. However, a quick Google Maps search shows that Calderstones Park and Strawberry Field are parallel to each other, with Strawberry Field right next to it. (See the result from Google Maps. Straight to the left of the red pointer is a green area, marked "Calderstones Park".) I'll add something that says that Calderstones Park is right next to the Salvation Home. I don't have access to the source(s) that the quote comes from, but I think I made a safe assumption that Lennon's aunt didn't refer to Lennon by his last name. You were right, Keeper. The real quote says "John", not "Lennon". Go figure, I changed it to "John" (it's easy enough to establish that it means "Lennon").
