According to the BJCP the Westvleteren 12 is not a tripel. I cannot cite a source for everything that isn't a tripel. mikebe is absolutely wrong. He is so wrong I almost feel bad arguing this because it is like a physicist arguing with a baby over relativity. He is stubborn and doesn't want his article to be edited, he is the reason people don't trust wikipedia. I guess if you like I could go through the thousands upon thousands upon thousands of beers made throughout the world that are of a different style and cite them as not tripels.

Apparently in Belgium, beer are referred to by their place within a range. Enkel is the beer with the least grain, dubbel is next highest, and tripel is the third highest. The name has nothing to do with the color or flavor of the beer. Mikebe is from Belgium and has cited books written in Dutch to this effect. If you have support for it not being a Tripel, cite it and add to the discussion. Something more reputable than beeradvocate and ratebeer would be appreciated. How do you define a Tripel? Using BJCP guidelines?
