A tag has been placed on Eastern Shore Stamp Club requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 23:07, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

July 2010[edit]

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to the page Eastern Shore Stamp Club. Blank pages can confuse readers, and are overall not helpful to the Wikipedia project; furthermore, blanking a page is not the same as deleting it.

If the article you blanked is a duplicate of another article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalized, please revert it to the last legitimate revision. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please use the appropriate deletion process. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. The Blade of the Northern Lights (talk) 00:25, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article talk pages[edit]

When editiing article talk pages it's advisable that one adds new sections when additional comments are needed rather than blanking previous comments. You can find more information by clicking here. Regards Tiderolls 12:20, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Status and Advice[edit]

I have just deleted the above article for the third time, after two other admins did the same. There is no way a 45-member local stamp club is going to be notable, unless there are really strong outside references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. Perhaps you instead would like to work on some of the needed material at Wikipedia:WikiProject Philately DGG ( talk ) 04:55, 20 July 2010 (UTC) While I suppose you have a right to delete my article, I don't completely agree with that decision. I must note that there are several other club pages on Wikipedia that have the same number of members (or less) than my club. In addition, I've read articles about clubs that contain fewer (and weaker) references than my article did. It makes no sense to me why one club's article is allowed to remain on Wikipedia while another one keeps being deleted. I think it would be best to maintain a consistent policy, if only for the sake of being fair. Thanks for your understanding. (Kyep (talk) 01:32, 23 July 2010 (UTC))[reply]

MfD nomination of User:Kyep[edit]

User:Kyep, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Kyep and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Kyep during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion.
