Harraton[edit]

Hi Kyle,

Since I added the information about the pit disaster I have been keeing a watch on this page. Thanks for your recent additions, but do you have fuller citations for "Harraton Colliery Chapel - a history" and "Harraton Genealogy .26 History"? The {{sfn}} template is meant to estabnlish cross links, not to provide the full citation. If these are online references, let me have them and I'll add them for you if you want. In general there are two ways of writing citations: inline and as a "short footnote". You will come across both, use whichever is already established on the page. Inline citations are clumsier, but keep the citation close to the text. They do make the source harder to read, and can be a problem when there are multiple citations in a long article. Short form (as used here) separates the bibliographic information from the reference. Personally I find it easier, particularly when there is repeated references to multiple pages. Have a look at All Saints Church, Frindsbury where there are repeated references to different pages of Wade(1990). The {{citation}} template generates an "anchor", you may see it as "...#CITEREFLake2011". When you use {{sfn}} the template generates a link in the same form. Users can then click on the small number to see the short name of the work (and the page number if appropriate), and then click on the name to see the full citation. {{sfn}} also collects identical references together which makes for a more compact and usable apparatus; see for example citation 6 (Thomson 1817).

Please treat the forgoing as proffered guidance, not a telling off! We all had to start somewhere and I, for one, would have done some of my earlier work differently now. File permission problem with File:EFL League Two Logo.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:EFL League Two Logo.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included.
