Tea house interwiki[edit]

Hello L Kensington,

the changes from User:Ws227 on the interwiki part on the Article Tea house is not meant to be vandalism. Her change is unfortunate, but with reason. She asked me to explain for her and to search for a solution.

The word Tea house has in Chinese and in Japanese two different meanings. One is a small house in a private garden, this is named in Chinese a zh:茶寮 and in Japanese a ja:茶室. The other is a public venue, a sort of bar where people meet and drink tea. This is named in Chinese a zh:茶馆 and in Japanese ja:茶屋. As you can see, the two things are quite different. Ws227 tried to make a more precise difference in interwiki links. But as I examined the articles from the western language articles, most of them mean both, or describe both. So a interwiki link is difficult.

Now we had found a solution. There is an article in Chinese zh:茶室, which is a Chinese word used for both. So she will now link Tea house and all western languages to this disambig article on Chinese, while for Chinese and Japanese there would be two different, more granualed articles and interwikis between these two sets of articles. Unfortunately there is no disambig articles in Japanese for the private tea house and public tea house, so she will link both articles to the english Tea house.

Ws227 is a long year Chinese admin and she is a very trustworthy Wikipedian.

Sorry for the confusion.--Wing (talk) 16:50, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I understand this, but as mentioned by User talk:Drmies, it was a bit confusing on why the linked pages to the spanish, french, italian, russian, ukrainian, and a a few other interwiki links were removed as well. But, I believe this issue has been resolved and User:Drmies has already removed the warnings from User:Ws227's talk page. Thank you though for providing an explanation. Dalziel High School[edit]

I think you might just be getting a bit carried away with yourself. I took the time to edit the entry and reflect a number of points from my time at this school, which you took it upon yourself to edit out. Presumably, some of the idiots who tell you how wonderful you are will have given you a gold star for that. All it has done is prevent me from contributing to this site again. It is clearly a waste of time. Well done! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lobeydosser1 (talkcontribs) 19:58, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, take another look at the edits again. All I did was fix vandalism. User:PwninROD changed " rector = Brian Miller" to "Rectum = Brian Miller" changed the activity of photography to pornography and called the head teacher "big and sexy" I'd suggest you take another look at the Revision history of Dalziel High School before you go on and start a blind rampage. P.S. change your tone, and cool down. I'd suggest you take some time off before you decide to make another edit. In fact, your edits are still there and have not changed significantly since your August 7th revision. What baffles me is why you are complaining about reverting someone else's edit when in fact yours is still there. L Kensington (talkcontribs) 23:03, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Prolific vandals[edit]

Hey! I know it's not easy to tell from Huggle, but if you come across a vandal that's just come off a block, you can report them straight to AIV for an extension of their wikibreak and we admins will be happy to oblige. Btw, do you want your talk page semi-protected? I've blocked a lot of vandals from this page today! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 01:28, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

David michael close[edit]

The article asserts that the subject received a prestigious Ministry of Defence award for invention of an improved radar device, so the article doesn't appear to qualify for db-bio and I've removed the speedy tag. Another editor tagged it as db-spam, so the creator (apparently the subject's son) is rather steamed. I'll try to improve it, under the hail of insults, but it will probably wind up at AFD. Thanks, Nanodance (talk) 14:17, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see how it meets notability as there are no reliable or verifiable sources of him. Wikipedia:Notability. Most (if not all) of the article is written in terms of original research. Please justify how he meets notability guidelines. If it is not fixed soon, I will nominate it for AfD. I see it has been proposed for another speedy. Plus, the author coarsely said that the article can be deleted on the discussion page. L Kensington (talkcontribs) 14:40, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

on the genital bisection page?? let me ask you a question do you think that what i wrote is incorrect? how is it vandalism, please tell me. do you think that "genital bisection" is a normal practice? there really isn't even a need for this page on wikipedia, maybe in the future someone will remove the WHOLE PAGE, not just make a totally correct comment that 99% of people would agree with. Speedy deletion declined: Annabeth Robinson[edit]

Hello 71.234.166.161. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Annabeth Robinson, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: this is a reasonable A7 nomination, as it doesn't really assert importance but, per talk page discussion, it seems possible that sources can be found. Give it a chance to improve, and if not take to AfD. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 10:49, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your revert on Jet Airways[edit]

Sir, It was good that you reverted the edit on the Jet Airways page. But it would have been appreciated if you had reported the edit by the IP as vandalism as it is a case of vandalism. Thank You

Wanted to applaud you for your noble efforts in keeping the wikiverse safe from drive-by "sniper" vandals and PA violators. I have read my talk page history and am eternally grateful for you and other Admins. I am not quick or skilled with the IP reports, block requests, PA reports (though I have filed them on this series of IP's), I trust that with your quick response these anon "proxy" IPs have been watched and monitored. Chuck Slavin[edit]

I hope you continue to monitor the article about Chuck Slavin. I do not believe his accomplishments as an actor and filmmaker are notable enough as yet for a Wikipedia article. He has been self-promoting himself successfully in the Boston area, however, his accomplishments are slight compared to the promotion. As an actor the films listed on his page he seems to only have done extra work and his only roles seem to be in non-notable indie films. FrancisDrake (talk) 01:37, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, the article has been listed on the articles for deletion page, and I have voted for its deletion. Thanks for your concern. L Kensington (talkcontribs) 05:13, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism of Mike Arcuri heads-up[edit]

When reviewing and I accept or reject an edit, I usually check the history after to be certain it 'took'. After rejecting a top-level edit of Mike Arcuri for vandalism, I spotted a tangle of 9 stacked edits in the history. On the surface, it appears User:Edgarde vandalised the article, but that's not the case. Both User:Edgarde and User:L Kensington tried to revert vandalism but stepped on one another's edits.

To be clear, no one's at fault (except the bloody vandal). This happened to me and once done, I've not found a graceful way out except manually accept what edits could be accepted and then using brute force to clean up the rest.

best regards, --UnicornTapestry (talk) 04:14, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. L Kensington (talkcontribs) 05:08, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting[edit]

Hi, I appreciate your work here as an anti-vandal, it's very useful. However in the last case I think in haste you didn't look at the changes made, and no explanation was given. I have clearly explained the small changes I made and see no reason for them to be reverted, thanks, Alexandre. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexandre8 (talkcontribs) 23:18, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Much appreciated Rod (I think that's your name). I'm looking to get a bit more involved with Wikipedia, and was wondering where the best place to get started would be. I've had an account for a number of years, and have written one puny little article, and have read the basic rules, but am overwhelmed by so many technicalities. I've noticed a lot of badly worded/ biased articles, and I'd love to be able to fix that fairly. Any chance you could tell me the motivation for your such dedication? I'll remember to sign this time Alexandre8 (talk) 23:26, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, my name isn't Rod, as for my motivational sources, I'm not sure where it comes from. Good luck in your Wikipedia endeavors. L Kensington (talkcontribs) 23:36, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, just a friendly reminder when reverting to remember to warn users whom you revert for vandalism and/or page blanking / edit testing as you did here. I've gone ahead and warned them for you, but always remember to do so in the future as it establishes. Keep up the good work. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ② talk 18:22, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure why you are removing the link to Wa Wa Wachusett Wind - this is a documentary film that shows how wind turbines are built. It is non-commercial in nature and educational. The wind farm is a community-owned (the town of Princeton, MA).

The video seems to be a Conflict of Interest and it could be viewed as spam. WP:EL#ADV Also, Xlinkbot generally removes YouTube links, like this one [1], and will give you a warning, if you want, you can still add your link, but it may be removed by Xlinkbot, and you may get a warning.

Tip[edit]

When a user removes a speedy deletion tag from a page that he or she created themselves, you should revert the edit, and then warn the user for removing the speedy deletion tag. WAYNEOLAJUWON 03:00, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there - I'm not sure that your recent reverts at this page with rollback fall into the "vandalism" category. It seems to just be a dispute over the naming of the Vietnam War (our own article on which recognises that Vietnam Conflict is an alternative name).--Mkativerata (talk) 04:06, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking that 3rr, constitutes vandalism. It appears that the edit has been undone by a IP editor, could it be possible that they are sockpuppetting? L Kensington (talkcontribs) 04:09, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
3RR breaches are hardly ever vandalism - they're just content disputes between multiple editors. I've blocked the other IP for block evasion.--Mkativerata (talk) 04:11, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, thanks for clarifying. L Kensington (talkcontribs) 04:21, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is a lot of IP vandalism on that page, and I think you reverted to a "wrong" (that is, vandalised) version. I've gone for a version that looks clean to me, but you may want to keep an eye on it. Ghmyrtle (talk) 07:47, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
