For transparency, I have included a copy of the e-mail I sent to Onel5969

Hi Onel5969,

I noticed you reverted the entire article I wrote about Elton: Jewel Box back to a redirect. I read the guidelines surrounding wp:nalbum, which you cited as the reason for reverting the article. I appreciate your initiative in adhering to Wikipedia's guidelines, but I still think the compilation deserves its own page, although I might have gone about writing the page the wrong way. I also want to make it clear that although I spent a considerable amount of time writing and formatting the article, that I don't take this personally.

I admit that citing Elton John's official website as my main source was a mistake but it's something that can be fixed. Are there any other reasons you think that this compilation does not need to have its own page? I think that the collection is notable enough to warrant its own page, it has been covered by Rolling Stones and Billboard and also appeared on national charts. I understand that just because the collection is by Elton John, that doesn't necessarily make it noteworthy. I hope you understand that this was a good-faith edit.

Basically, my main question is, what are the issues that need to be addressed before Elton: Jewel Box can have its own page? Also, was it really necessary to essentially delete the article rather than add a box summarizing the issues with the article? Thanks for your time. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely, Lavendar Vallery

Hi. Thanks for the email, but sorry, I don't respond via email to editors I don't know. I'm glad you're not taking my redirect personally, for there was nothing personal about it. And I didn't delete the article, simply restored the redirect. All your work is still there in the history. If there hadn't been an original redirect, I would have draftified it. You are correct, simply because it is an album by a famous artist does not mean that it meets notability criteria. When I restored the redirect, I cited WP:NALBUM, and in your email you mentioned several items which would definitely qualify (the coverage in RS and Billboard, charting on national charts). But none of that was mentioned or cited in the article. Even without that, the current citing gives no indication of notability, since it is all either primary (from Elton's site), or from a non-RS source (YouTube). If you put the Billboard/Rolling Stones stuff into the article, with citations, and the charting info (again, with citations), it would appear to pass notability. I hope this helps. Thank you for your response. I sent you an e-mail because I didn't want to point fingers and publicly "call you out" for "deleting" my article. Obviously I didn't want to start an editing war either. I would be more than willing to cite other sources and then maybe we can perhaps restore the article with proper citations? As you might be able to see I am fairly new as a Wikipedia editor but I am by no means unexperienced when it comes to editing.

What kind of sources would be appropriate for citing quotes and opinions by Elton John? I agree that generally speaking YouTube is not a good source for reliable information, however I thought that in this case it was reliable since it unmistakably features Elton John expressing his personal opinions, which I was citing. Anyway, I'll rework the article, add proper citations and remove any claims I can't verify. Should the sources to Elton John's official website be completely removed or should I supplement the claims with more sources?
