Football statistics

Hi, many thanks for taking some interest in updating the infobox statistics for footballers. It would be useful if you could set the timestamps for the changes at the same time as you change the appearance/goal figures. There is a field name |pcupdate= or |club-update=, usually at the bottom of the template, that should be changed. The equivalent for international matches is |ntupdate= or |nationalteam-update=. All you have to do is replace the contents of the field with 5 tilde characters, ~~~~~, which when saved will be converted into the date/time of the change. Hi there, and Happy New Year! Glad to hear you're interested in contributing to The Signpost (SP)! I understand you don't have a lot of experience, so let's go at this slowly with one piece at a time, e.g. you don't have to produce an article every week. If you want to start with WikiProject(s) where you're semi-active, that's understandable, but seconding @Gamaliel's comment, you would need to "disclose your involvement in the piece". The WikiProject Report process includes: develop some questions, post them on the WikiProject's talkpage, wait for editors to respond; we have seasoned SP editors who can upload the piece after you've pulled it together. Also, in case you're not aware of it, there are ongoing WikiProject discussions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council. Are you comfortable with all of this, and if yes, when do you want to start? Thanks for your responses Rosiestep and Go Phightins! I've already written this week's WikiProject report (the introduction and the questions) and tomorrow will post the questions in one of the interview rooms. I'm quite familiar with the process already, and will also soon start this week's article in the Newsroom if this is okay? I'm quite happy to not produce an article every week, as I'm still not very experienced (only joined Wikipedia in August 2015). I've looked at the Guidelines and regularly read The Signpost, therefore I have a good idea of the layout. I'm quite happy to start now, and as a result have indeed organized the first report.

Tip of the day, completed Interview for The Signpost

Greetings Leeds United FC fan, Gamaliel and Rosiestep  – On my talk page there is a Tip of the day interview completed during September 2015 that to my knowledge is not yet used for The Signpost "WikiProject Report". If true, feel free to contact me for possible SP publication.

In addition, I believe that user Tortle who sent me the interview questions might be retired. Currently TOTD is being actively updated and maintained primarily by: myself, Checkingfax and The Transhumanist with occasional inputs from other editors.

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. Flags in European current templates

Hello there, I have been asked by another member of WPRL to widen the conversation on "Flags in European current templates", in the hope to gain a wider consensus. I imagine that this message may well never be read, dismissed, see me lose support, potentially gain some or take the discussion forwards. Please do take the time to read the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Rugby_league#Flags_in_squad_templates if you can, but the crux of my position is that the flags are prevalent elsewhere, are consistent with usage by the MOS, and their implementation for their rugby league national squad/team or representative nationality, is in line with their intended purpose. The crux of the remove side would be an IP editor may interpret a flag as indication of birth, give too much credence to the nation, and the decision was made previously. To remove them from all rugby league templates when there is a limited conversation would seem more than a little unfair I would say, hence the attempt to reach out. I'm quite happy to voted down, but would appreciate a few more voices to the discussion, else it would seem quite wrong to move from the majority into the minority.Fleets (talk) 19:58, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
