Hello, Legoktm,

I'm just checking in to see if everything is working okay with my favorite bot. It regularly issues Wikipedia:Database reports/Empty categories at 01:02 UTC like clockwork but no report tonight. Just thought I'd see if everything is working well. Thank you for checking! Liz Read! Talk! 01:08, 22 January 2023 (UTC)

It posted the database report at 01:25 UTC but I think I'll leave this message here rather than removing it so you can know there was some kind of glitch. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 02:19, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
@Liz: for reasons I don't fully understand, the Polluted categories report keeps shifting times, today it got kicked off with the 1:00 UTC run, which delayed the Empty categories report since they go one after another. I'm overdue on improving the scheduling system so it's more consistent and predictable, I'll try to get to that in the next few days. Legoktm (talk) 06:04, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
Okay, well I appreciate the explanation. It's not super urgent but bots are ordinarily so predictable, it got my attention. Liz Read! Talk! 01:09, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Database reports/Empty categories keeps getting issued later and later from 01:02 UTC to 02:02 UTC to now 03:02 UTC (that's 7 pm for me so not so bad). But I'm worried to keep seeing it moving up later and later. Any chance we could bring it back to between 00:00 and 01:00 UTC? It would even be okay during the day, at least for me. Thanks for your help. Liz Read! Talk! 02:39, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
It should always run at 1:00 UTC starting today, if I got the code right. Legoktm (talk) 00:36, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
@Liz: OK, should be back to the normal schedule now, for good. I tried to document the expectations on updating on the bot's user page. In short, for most reports it tries to run at the same time it did previously but there's no guarantee. Just let me know which reports you want to update when and I can set them to always update at that time. Legoktm (talk) 02:46, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

Another safe tt tag pattern for your bot

While cleaning up talk pages with very large numbers of tags, I have come upon a repeated pattern of editors using <tt>...</tt> to wrap emoticons. I have been swapping it for {{mono}}, which gets the job done (I was wary of starting an argument with : or ; but they appear to work). Here's my current regex, which covers the most common emoticons:

str = str.replace(/\<tt\>([:;][DP\/\)])\<\/tt\>/gi, '\{\{mono\|$1\}\}');

There are no doubt more varieties of emoticons than appear in this regex; a possibly too-broad search finds 2,600 pages, with some likely false positives. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:16, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

Thanks! Implemented it, will try it out on some of those pages in the next few days. Legoktm (talk) 07:24, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
