4 Minutes

Hi! Why did you remove Timbaland from the article "4 Minutes"? See this, Timbaland has as the same credits as Justin Timberlake. You can answer on my talk page or here, I'll see it. Thanks! 78.2.116.11 (talk) 17:24, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

As I stated in my edit summary, Timbaland having the same production credits as Justin, doesnot endorse him a featured artist credit. The single itself debouches it, as well as Billboard, who did not credit Timbaland with the featured credit of the song, as he had only one line, and a few words in his contribution. Hence removed. — Legolas (talk2me) 17:32, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your answer in that short notice. But look at this. Isn't that enough? It's Hard Candy's back side, and it says "featuring Justin Timberlake & Timbaland". 78.2.116.11 (talk) 18:02, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I'm well aware of it. But Timbaland was not credited in the single release of the song. Billboard as well as all the retailers and providers had it as Madonna ft. timberlake. — Legolas (talk2me) 05:05, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Legolas he is credited in every single release. European single[1], American maxi single[2], British vinyl[3], French cardboard[4] and so on.190.233.37.249 (talk) 05:37, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Explain me why is he ommited from the main single cover? And why Billboard doesnot credit him? I will be happy to add him back if such querries are clarified. — Legolas (talk2me) 05:39, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Main single cover? which is the main single? the British, German, French, American, European, Japanese, Australian, all of the cds and vinyls singles credits Timbaland. And how is Billboard not crediting him? [5]. 190.233.37.249 (talk) 05:55, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Although I personally think that the song is just a duet between Madonna and Justin, I have to agree with the IP. All single covers credit the song as "4 Minutes featuring Justin Timberlake and Timbaland", though the front cover states "Madonna & Justin". Bluesatellite (talk) 08:01, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Alright :), but how can I get the PID for each Madonna singles? Bluesatellite (talk) 02:17, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Got 'til It's Gone

Hello Legolas, I just wanted to ask you if you could possibly lock Got 'til It's Gone as an IP address has been repeatedly adding false information, concerning the production credits, to the article. Thanks! Ga Be 19 04:54, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Re: Infobox Musician Awards

I can, it's not very hard; to do this, all that is needed is to replace class="infobox" in the very first line with class="infobox collapsible collapsed", and then tweak the headers around so the [show] link doesn't pop up in a weird place. This diff [6] shows all the changes needed. I haven't done this on the live template, yet, however, as this would be a fairly major change to simply do. Was there a discussion for this anywhere? A change like this could easily change the layout of any page it appears on. Also, the infobox being inaccurate doesn't seem like a reason to make a change to the infobox, rather it seems like a reason to update the information it contains. I'm rather hesitant about adding this edit until there seems to be some sort of consensus for it. Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:28, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Well, Madonna only has 16 Billboard Music Awards, I'm a bit difficult to search nominations. I decide to complete all awards first, and add sources later. RAZZIE? Seriously?? "Worst Actress of the Century", LOL. What a shame :( Bluesatellite (talk) 14:37, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Well, I guess you misunderstood. Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical is awarded to remixer, not singer or songwriter. Actually, Madonna's projects has earned 9 Grammys, but only 7 awards belong to Madonna. Ray of Light and Music won Grammy Award for Best Recording Package, but both are credited to Kevin Reagan, the art director. Bluesatellite (talk) 08:51, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Hehe, it's Ok. Btw, could you help me to expand the lead section? I'm confused what to write, too many awards -_-" Bluesatellite (talk) 06:58, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. Oh ya, I found that Billboard Music Awards were actually held from 1990 to 2007. So what do you think, should we include Billboard Year-end chart like List of awards and nominations received by Lady Gaga? Bluesatellite (talk) 07:09, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
Alright, I hope I can help to take another FL to Madge wikiproject. My last question, can we use Rock on the Net as source, I notice that it is used in FL List of awards and nominations received by Aerosmith. And, what about IMDB, can we use it as source, or just leave it on External links? Bluesatellite (talk) 07:28, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
I see, thanks. Bluesatellite (talk) 07:45, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Really?? There are many awards that based on polling. People's Choice Awards, Teen Choice Awards, International Dance Music Awards, all are public voted. I myself think that there's nothing wrong to include them. Bluesatellite (talk) 15:00, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Hey, do you have hard copy of Madonna: An Intimate Biography?? Please help me to add information about Michael Jackson reaction about Madonna here. I can't access both Taraborrelli's books Michael Jackson and Madonna: An Intimate Biography on Google Books :( Bluesatellite (talk) 07:41, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Abuse of authority

Dude, you seriously need to calm down. You are taking things way to personally. I mean, editing another person's user profile. Your name wasn't even mentioned. You are unwilling to have a discussion about the information in an article because you think your word is unquestionable. You have threatened me repeatedly. None of these things are improving any articles. If the only thing you can do is go around "warning" people, deleting their work, and refusing to have a debate about the material in earnest, you are the one who needs to "just leave". I am replacing my content. You can throw your "muscle" around all you want but you are only proving my point that you have no ground to stand on. Telling people to leave conversations is very immature, and deleting their work moreso. Njsustain (talk) 21:27, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Doubts

I am pretty new to Wikipedia, but I have my own contributions. If you look up at the history of the article Guzaarish I would have contributed major chunks of the contents from the beginning . I had uploaded Sanjay Leela Bhansali - Lata Mangeshkar Photos, A Couple of Goa Outskirts shooting photoes related to the movie, On the Sets photos etc. These photos are from guzaaarishtheflim.com . But these images are used every where for promotional purposes, so i too added them here. But Wikipedia deleted them saying it is copyright infringement. I dont know how to upload such images, but from what i read such images are air and free use images. So how do i use them ??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Srk1121srk (talkcontribs) 10:26, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

When You Believe

Hi Legolas :) So I get what your saying, but from what I know it was released as a single from #1's. Thats at least what many sources indicate. What makes you say that?--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 19:27, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

This is because #1's came much after WYB was released. And it was WYB's success that led to its inclusion in #1's. Hence, it is true that the song can be found in #1's, but it was not released as a single from #1's, it was from the POE soundtrack. Kinda like what happened to Britney's "Radar". People were adding both Blackout and Circus in the album box, but in truth, fact and consensus decided that "Radar" was a single from Circus. Its a tricky situation and also if you don't mind, can you direct me to those sources? — Legolas (talk2me) 05:39, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Let me do my job

About the edit i did on that Madonna-album...I've been working with electronic music in over 20 years, so I guess I know my genres. Most websites would've put this album under the pop and dance-genres, which is nor wrong or right. Still, I felt that - when this being an experimental album - I had to write down the exact type of music this was. Just thought you should know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.212.36.99 (talk) 20:11, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

This is an exact case of original research. You are adding your own thesis and thoughts as genres for the album, whereas reputed sources state it to be unlikely. I sugggest you read the policies of wikipedia about verifiability and reliable sources. Addition of unsourced and challengable material will be removed, and, in the politest way, do add sources, lest more stronger warnings come your way. Best, — Legolas (talk2me) 06:57, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Certifications of countries that are not the 10 countries selected for the charts table.

Hi, after you revert I started looking at WP:DISCOGSTYLE and there is currently nothing that indicates that certifications should be only of the 10 charts countries. I thought the following: Charts and certifications are two different things. When editing a discography article, we first choose 10 countries for charts table, trying to select the countries that the band/artist charted better. Then you add certifications for that countries. (I add every cert I found) The problem is that you can be missing countries were the band/artist is popular and sell a lot. For example, The Fame Monster is 3xPlatinum in Austria, so that is 60.000 units sold or shipped, but it also Diamond in Poland and that means 150.000 units sold. Maybe the band charted better in Austria but sold more in Poland. Also there are countries that have no reliable chart website in WP:CHARTS and maybe that country is were the band is more popular and have sold more. Example: Dream Theater and Megadeth are big in Argentina, both discography articles are featured, and they have Argentina certifications in despite Argentina have no reliable charts for single and no archive for albums charts. There are currently no consensus about this, and the last two threads I open in the talk of WP:DISCOGSTYLE got archived without consensus (see diff). Both two threads I created was after two reverts of topics without consensus, so I don't break the WP:3RR. So I'm like losing faith in consensus system. One of the threads was about if to link or not link to albums in singles table. I prefer them not to be linked and when someone add a link to them I used to revert them, but once someone revert my revert, so that is when I created the topic there. Since the thread got archived someone could come to a featured discography article, add the links, get reverted by someone who is watching that article, revert the revert, start an edit war or maybe the watcher creates a topic at WPDISCOGSTLYE (that's what I did), leading to no consensus, getting archived, and then other user add the links again, the watcher revert, etc. Leading to a circle cycle or an infinite loop. You are currently the most experienced active user on the English Wikipedia in discographies. What do you suggest? --Neo139 (talk) 21:09, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

It does not matter. Thanks anyway. Jivesh boodhun (talk) 17:30, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Can you help me please? If you see the section "Music Video" for "Rose Colored Glasses" of Kelly Rowland, you will see like "a block" of images. Can you make one for me for "diva" using the link http://www.rap-up.com/2008/11/23/beyonce-gets-in-diva-mode-for-new-video/ ?????????

Jivesh boodhun (talk) 09:05, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Hey

Lol, yup that was me :) I'm puzzled though as to the #1's question. I specifically asked for sales in Japan, but I don't think he realized and gave me US sales. And I didn't want digital sales for "Without You" I want all. Hmmm, yeah it makes sense, but at least on my comp in looks so small :S. Oh well. Yup, I really think it might pass :D with a big thank you to you for the help with the copy-edit! I even mentioned you in the nomination summary. Feel honored ;)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 16:48, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Of course I am honored. AIWFCIY is a wonderful song, actually my second best after ILT. Hope everything is ok with the nomination and Fasach Nua again doesnot make a silly comment. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:57, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Lol, yes me too. Thank you :)
What do you think about the Paul Grein thing? After reading my question and his answer, do you think he even acknowledges the Japan thing?--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 17:41, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Nah, actually he doesnt. That would have been too much of trouble for him and I think he purposefully skipped. :P — Legolas (talk2me) 17:44, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Hahahhaha probably! I mean out of all people asking about SoundScan sales, and I'm there asking about sales in Japan lol. I'll bug him again next time :)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 17:50, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
He he. Yup do that to him, let's see what he comes up with. Btw, BB year-end charts revealed! — Legolas (talk2me) 17:56, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Lol I will! Really!? Yes I'm excited for those :) Can you give me a link?--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 19:42, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Re:R00d

Lol. Well you're probably one of very few people that has the year-long subs to Check on It, so you're alsmost Irreplaceable. I thought that might mean you have a large Ego, and therefore you need to be approached very nicely. OK that was a very bad way of weaving titles in lol. But you're busy with Bad Romance aren'cha? Why isn't it at FAC yet? Adabow (talk · contribs) 20:17, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Re: Hello

I am good, Legolas, how 'bout you? Everything is good just busy with school. What's new with you? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 21:36, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

That's good, hope you're enjoying married life. :) Me, well the only thing I've been working on is 30 Rock (season 4) so that it'd be FL material, other than that I haven't worked on anything in particular because of school and upcoming exams. But after that I'll return to expand episode articles. What about you what you up to these days? IDK what's up with Timberlake not releasing any music. He recently said that he wasn't leaving music for acting so that's good to know. He needs to bring his music back. Hey, what do you think of Maroon 5's new song? Love it or hate it? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 16:41, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
I liked the song when it came out but then it got annoying for me. I love "Give a Little More" love the sound and lyrics. Yeah, that's what people are saying about their new album but hey they have good songs. I'm hoping Timberlake comes out with something really want to hear the new material. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 20:04, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Butterfly

Hey Legzz, one question. So I am about to have Butterfly and all 5 of its singles be GA :DDD. SO Do I need to have the tour be GA as well for Good Topic? If I do, where the F can I get info on it? :) Thank yeeee--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 05:14, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

You pose a question to which I seriously know no solution. Mimi's tour articles have always been low access points because there never has been much info, except The Adventures of Mimi Tour. And yes, the tour article, and any video album associated with it has to be a GA atleast. Just remind me to search the archives when you start the article clean-up. And one point, I seriously believe that for those earlier videos, hardly any info will be found. I think you will be better off, merging them with the tour articles. — Legolas (talk2me) 05:23, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Well I don't mean to rush ya, but I will probably start tomorrow :P. Yep, her tours have always been really, really short. I mean, they all have like 7-14 dates lol, for an artist of her level its rediculus. Honestly though, her voice can obviously not hadle tour for some reason, its been one of the causes of her decline. ANyway, Let me know if you find anything! Thanks :)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 05:27, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Ya, I read in her bio that her voice was seriously affected after the Fantasy era. She blamed it on the divorce, then the stress on her chords and the stupid label she was with. Poor girl, must have gone through hell. I can't help you within the next three days, as I will be busy with LAP and BR. After that just ping me, I will search I promise. — Legolas (talk2me) 05:30, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Yes it was. Interestingly enough, her voice has changed pretty much every year since she started if oou noticed. Also, she had vocal issues at the end of 1993 and 1994 as well. They after the Daydream Tour it got really bad :( Its a question I would love to know the answer to! Have you ever heard her Butterfly Tour show in Japan? Its very good, just very hoarse and raspy :(. Yessir, I will be back in three days :) I'll have done all I can with the article, so you could give me whatever you got. Thanks!--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 05:33, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

Are you kidding!? Hahaha I am SO excited :) I would never miss it! I saw a clip of OCAYF with her mom live, it was so nice :D I am disappointed with the little-no promo she did. Follow-up: Billboard

I was wondering if I could take up on your kind offer: Katy Perry's "Ur So Gay" hasn't charted on the Billboard Hot 100, but has on the Hot Singles Sales and Hot Dance Singles Sales charts. Could you tell me what those peaks are, please? Thanks in advance! Yves (talk) 09:52, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Sure thing, in a moment. — Legolas (talk2me) 09:54, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
That was easy:
"Ur So Gay" — Hot Singles Sales — 6-3-2-4-11 (five weeks)
"Ur So Gay" — Hot Dance Singles Sales — 4-2-2-9 (four weeks)
Any thing else? — Legolas (talk2me) 10:00, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Awesome: thank you so much! There is, actually, if you don't mind. "Dream a Little Dream" and "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" both by the Glee Cast peaked at numbers ninety-four and seventy-three on the Canadian Hot 100, respectively, but the Billboard site doesn't have any of that. It's the only two peaks on the discography page with questionable sources, and I'm kind of hoping to bring it to FL in the not-too-distant future. If you could help out with how to reference that, it would be much appreciated! P.S. "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" incorrectly charted as "It's a Man's, Man's Man's World". Yves (talk) 10:08, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Easy, reference the physical magazine. If you give me the dates of when they charted, I will give you the volume and issue numbers, you can add it. — Legolas (talk2me) 10:13, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Or better, once you get the date in yyyy-mm-dd format, use this link http://www.billboard.com/charts/canadian-hot-100?chartDate=yyyy-mm-dd&order=gainer, this will do the job, sice they were debuts and will be on the gainer charts. — Legolas (talk2me) 10:15, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict) But I thought the magazines didn't publish after the top twenty (or maybe it's twenty-five)? "Dream a Little Dream" peaked on June 5, 2010 and "It's a Man's, Man's Man's World" [sic] on June 19, 2010. And unfortunately, I've already tried that, but you may or may not know that Glee can have up to six of those débuts. In this case, the first only shows up to position 69 and the second to 72. :( Yves (talk) 10:18, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Yes I know that they may or may not be present in the link, but their is a firewall below it, which if you click you will actually get the main link for billboard.biz. Yes, Glee songs do become kinda trouble some. and yes, I forgot that the Canadian Hot 100 published in teh magazines are actually 10 positions only. — Legolas (talk2me) 10:28, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Eh? What do you mean by the "firewall"? And I can't access billboard.biz archives. I'm confused. :S Yves (talk) 10:36, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
When you open that link, even if you cannot find that song, below you will find some link like, "to see the full chart, click here". The url associated with this link gives you the actual chart where it will be present. Don't worry, even if you cannot see the chart in the archives, it is present. Or once you get the link, tell me I will look it up. — Legolas (talk2me) 10:39, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
For the first one, I only see a lock after the "1-10", and it doesn't have a link attached to it, only a pop-up message about additional listings on billboard.biz. Same for the second. :S Yves (talk) 10:47, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

(Outdent)Thats what I am saying, it will be impossible to source it, if the physical magazine doesnot show it. Our best is to have the billboard.biz links or this one. But both will be behind firewalls. However, that is not a problem at all for FLC. — Legolas (talk2me) 11:12, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

...where "firewall" really means "paywall", since it's not Billboard's security against hacking that's keeping Yves out, but his unwillingness to pay. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 14:07, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
It's not about unwillingness as much as that I'm a starving university student. So Legolas, you're saying it's impossible to source? Or should the main accessible pages be sourced, like is done for the FL Taylor Swift discography and the Bubbling Under charts. (For example, "I'm Only Me When I'm with You" bubbled at 15 and the source is this page, which doesn't require subscription.) Should I do that instead, and use this page for the source for the Canadian peak of "Dream a Little Dream"? I know the peak is correct because I was actually on the page the week of the fifth of June. Yves (talk) 20:24, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Yes Yves, I understand your dilemma at not paying. Even when I was an University student, I never had the online subscription. Its costly, kind of. As for the charts, yes, that is closest we will get to source the charts, if the peak is not reported in the physical magazines, or is behind a paywall. There is only one alternate option, ie to use acharts.us, but its not recommended for FL or FA articles. — Legolas (talk2me) 03:58, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
Alright, so I'll use the pages from billboard.biz not behind a paywall that show charting on "Ur So Gay". :) Thanks for your help! Yves (talk) 04:00, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

billboard.biz working for you?

I know she isn't super notable, but there are lots of sources talking about her life and stuff. I could easily whip up a nice article. What do you think? Also, let's say I make one, can I use a non-free photo of her as a bio pic? I know we don't usually do it, but I don't think there are any free pics of her at all :(.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 22:55, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Seems a nice idea. I'm afraid the usage of a non-free photo is forbidden when, god bless her, Patricia is living in good health. Just hope some damn person took pics of the Christmas special and will post it on flickr, so that we can pester them untill they change the license, lol. — Legolas (talk2me) 03:58, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi Legolas :) SO I have some questions regarding Flickr. Let's say this photo, can I use this if he gives me permission? Also, how would I get permission. Next, for this and this how can I get permission for their usage. Thanks :)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 04:57, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

No idea for freewire, but for Flickr, create an account and post on the picture, asking the person whether he/she will allow the image license to be changed to CC-BY-SA. Before that you have to explain that you are an editor from WP, and would like to have the community benefit from the usage of his/her image in the encyclopedia. Post the link of the article where the image will be added, post your userpage link too if necessary, so that the owner is confirmed of the legitimacy of your querry and demand. If all goes well, he/she will update the license, and you have to get ur ass working to upload the image in commons, lest the owner reverts the license back! — Legolas (talk2me) 05:04, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
