My goal was to create and edit wikipedia pages for several lessons learned centers throughout the country so as to engage people and get them to learn about what these organizations do. This is a government agency that has no reason to use wikipedia as an "advertisement tool." How would you recommend I write about a government agency without advertising for it? If you can point out one single bit of information that qualifies as advertising or something that shows a bias, please tell me and it will be removed, but there is no reason to pull down the entire article. {{Help Me}} I get why my username is blocked but I dont get why my IP address is blocked. Now I won't ever be able to create a new account and become an active wikipedia member with this computer.

I am a lessons learned center researcher and created this article because no one had thought to do so in the past. This is a government agency that has no reason to use wikipedia as an "advertisement tool." How would you recommend I write about a government agency without advertising for it? You will need to create a new account, representing only you as an individual, because one of our policies is that usernames must not give the impression that the account belongs to a group or organisation. Then, before editing about your organization, you should read these guidelines:

So its my fault that these people are so ignorant that they don't understand how universal the phrase lessons learned center is. If I change my username to telephoneAT&T157 does that mean I wont be able to make changes to the At&t or telephone pages? or will u just delete them when i do make changes? your philosophy makes ZERO sense Lessonslearnedcenter (talk) 18:43, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

1. If you work for an entity, be it governmental or corporate or cooperative, you certainly should not be writing about it, since you have a conflict of interest.
2. Government agencies advertise and conduct public relations/publicity efforts all the time; see also WP:NOBLECAUSE.
3. I re-emphasize what was said above: "centers" and other collective entities cannot have accounts in Wikipedia. Only individual human beings can do so; so the "center" name was dead anyway. (And yes, anybody with a username like "telephoneAT&T" would be blocked, especially if they were editing telephone- or AT&T-related articles.) --Orange Mike | Talk 19:01, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]


Okay then, if an account named Joe-shmo261 wrote the exact same page I wrote, it would be ok? I guess my only issue is that this is the internet and you have no clue who the user is, no matter what their username is. Maybe I'm crazy but shouldnt the articles be deleted based on proven violations within the article, not the authors username? Because lets be honest, anyone can create any username. THe organization I wrote about is a completely educational agency that provides information and news to wildland firefighters. That organization provides lifesaving tools to men and women who risk their lives everyday. To me it just seems like you guys delete an article because of some small reason, block the users IP address and post a cookie cutter response without even reading the article to see if it violates any of your rules. Is there any way an article about this agency can be posted by a different account? If you have the power, can you at least unblock my account/IP address. This punishment seems pretty harsh considering my only violation was having an account name that too closely resembles the article I wrote. Also, I would like to say that my line about how they help firefighters wasn't meant to sound like this is a "noble cause" because thats not what this organization is. What I meant by that comment is that this organization (like wikipedia) is strictly for educational purposes. Also, I do not work for this entity. I work for a conservation association. I understand that government agencies advertise and conduct PR campaigns all the time but as I have previously stated, there is nothing along those lines within my article and if you can point any out, I will gladly delete them or even rewrite the article. According to your guidelines to become unblocked, the offender must own up to the violation they committed correct? I completely admit to my violation of creating a username that was too closely related to the article in question and that I should have made it something random instead of relative. And please if I have committed any other offenses that you can prove, tell me and I will confess those to you as well. If you would like a copy of the article so that you can actually read it and judge whether it can be posted, i would be more than happy to repost, or send it to you. If you would like me to send you a copy of my pay stub that proves I dont work for this agency, I would be more than happy to do that as well. My goal is to start writing wikipedia articles and I don't want a couple days of writing and editing going to waste everytime I create an article. Very predictable, this is why wikipedia is hurting for money. Anytime someone makes a mistake their account gets blocked indefinitely. Try issuing a warning first next time or you will continue to lose readers and editors alike. Honestly I have no clue why I am telling you this because it is falling on deaf ears. No one with any clout is going to read this and help me resolve and of my issues. SO yes I will go read the salmon box and get redirected to 10 different instructional pages that are 1000s of words long each. I will spend an hour trying to get my account back because you are so busy or lazy that you couldnt spend 1 minute explaining it to me without sending me to a bunch oh useless wiki "help" pages. I really hope u get paid well for the amazing job you do!!!!!!!!!
