Show Ya

Thank you for your comment, and it does appear that I acted hastily when I removed the heavy metal albums category from the individual albums and placing it under Category:Show Ya albums. In past years, we've relied on Jimbo to carry the bulk of the fundraising weight and he's done very well helping us hit our yearly funding targets. This year, however, we're broadening the scope and reach of the fundraiser by incorporating more voices and different people on the funding banners and appeals that will start running full-time on November 7th. Ciao. I last visited Rome in 1983, when I was shopping for records by many of my favourite Italian groups, like Le Orme, Banco, RDM, Goblin, PFM, etc.

Spanish is not English; neither is Italian English. Every language has its own conventions, and we do not apply English conventions onto other languages.
We do not need to see Spanish song titles capitalized in the English way, because that is wrong.

Dear Sir, Wikipedia is the result of the collaborative efforts of many editors, who are free to edit the articles. This means that the articles are always changing and not stuck in stone and you, me, everybody can add, modify and, to a limit, delete things. The limit are the sources, which are published articles, interviews, material present on other websites, etc., but not the word of the object of the article. If a Girlschool member decides that she wants to delete and change something only on her word, without providing a published reference from somewhere, her edit could be considered not from a Neutral point-of-view and challanged. Having said that, and if you are as you claim in direct contact with the band members, it would be a privilege to work with you, if only as supervisor, to better the article, bringing it to Feature status (which means it would be exposed on the first page of Wikipedia). It took months of efforts to gather all the articles and references to write the piece and I would not be able to do better.

Regarding the status of rock band, of course Girlschool are a rock band. But rock band is such a wide definition that you can put in it The Beatles, Yes, Fleetwood Mac, Rush and Slayer without effort. In my opinion, the correct definition for the music of Girlschool would be Heavy Rock, which is not contemplated as a genre on Wikipedia. It uses instead hard rock. On the other hand, Girlschool don't do ballads, they play fast songs with plenty of distorted guitars and short and poignant lyrics, which are characteristic of punk rock and heavy metal. I would stuck with what most critics wrote about their music, being a mix of punk and heavy metal. In various interviews during their career, Girlschool members themselves gave different definitions of their music (see article), but I think that it is also important how the outside world sees the band and their music. It is the same dispute started by Lemmy against the music press. He claims that Motörhead play rock'n'roll, but fans and critics know them and define them as a heavy metal band. His roots may be in Elvis, but his music, voice and attitude say something else. As Kelly Johnson said "heavy metal is anything loud and exciting and it covers the spectrum of different bands". No bothering here. There is a discussion on the music genre problem that you mentioned here: Talk:Led Zeppelin IV#Genre 2. The songs that compose the track listing actually belong to different genres and I don't think that should be changed. The album remains a milestone of hard rock and heavy metal for its influence and some of its songs, but I would not bluntly describe it as a heavy metal album. Scaruffi's self-published source

Per the discussion at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Albums#Piero_Scaruffi_-_Final_Verdict_on_using_him_as_a_source_in_reviews - there's a very clear consensus here that Scaruffi is not to be used as a source in music/album articles in any capacity. Do not add his reviews to review charts, or his opinions in reception sections. Since this is a long running dispute, any contributor warned by the situation and who doesn't respect it, would encounter sanctions and could be blocked from editing. Thanks. I wasn't aware of the long dispute and of the result of the debate. What leaves me perplexed is the menace of sanctions and blocks for using a not-so-good source. (stalking) Discussion, primarily on WT:ALBUMS has been back and forth over Scaruffi for a while, particularly after some editors (principally Soul Crusher) put reviews in en masse. I don't mind Scaruffi's reviews being treated as personal opinion, but consensus is that he has a particular axe to grind against the Beatles and that's what eventually led to the conclusion that his site is too much of a POV-push compared to more familiar sites such as Rolling Stone or Mojo, for example. Thank you for the explanation, but I do not contest the result of the discussion, which appears perfectly legitimate by Wikpedia rules. I wasn't up to date with the discussions on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums. I just did not like the tone of Woovee message, threatening repercussions if I dared use again that source. Black lists and less imperative manners could have the same effect. I won't be using Scaruffi's site as reference for album reviews, but his database may be useful as a source for other parts of the articles.
