Image copyright problem with File:Tunnels Roderick Gordon & Brian Williams.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tunnels Roderick Gordon & Brian Williams.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 08:03, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:TheBookOfCatastrophes.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk)(review) 20:31, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:The Highfield Mole Roderick Gordon & Brian Williams.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:The Highfield Mole Roderick Gordon & Brian Williams.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 16:33, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Roderick Gordon, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.roderickgordon.com/?page_id=2. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. File:Roderick Gordon as Drake.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Roderick Gordon as Drake.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. — ξxplicit 21:04, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have reassesed the article and put advice on the talk page. In all, the page is quite messy, but with good information. I suggest reading WP: Manual of Style (writing about fiction). I have begun writing the article here. Feel free to help. Derild4921 17:08, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You changed the 200 paperback copies to 2,000 but according to this source there were only 200. Where did you see 2,000 copies? Derild4921 19:05, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Derild4921 - 2,000 paperback copies were printed in addition to the 500 hardbacks, source http://www.doodledbooks.com/roderick-gordon-and-brian-williams-article--author-interview-1012-c.asp As you will see I have undone your latest edit, as that revision was only showing half of the article - thought that best for now. Thank-you.(Lifesawhirl (talk) 20:43, 16 August 2010 (UTC)).[reply]

Ok, thanks for the link, I wonder why the other one was wrong. Also, you didn't have to undo the edit, as you also got rid of the WP:Copyedit I was doing. Thanks. Derild4921 22:13, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

User Page[edit]

Hey now that you have breached the 300 edit mark and have done some pretty extensive editing, why don't you think about creating your User page at User:Lifesawhirl and tell us a little bit about yourself. It's a good way to familiarize with what the User is doing on Wikipedia and helps other editors recognize that you are here with a purpose and are not some "new" user. And thanks for working with us on the Tunnels (novel) issues! :)Sadads (talk) 17:49, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I will give it some thought. I suppose I am still a "new" user in my overall knowledge of Wikipedia. I am only here because of my passion for the Tunnels series and I am hoping to get around to the books 2-4, whose pages on here still need updating. I recently found my way around the Copyrighting and lodging the photo's on the Highfield Mole page for permission to be granted - I haven't found Wikipedia terribly user friendly in terms of finding the right 'basic' information guides. My use of correct citation and layout could be improved for sure. Thanks

A main Tunnels page?[edit]

Would you be interested in making a main Tunnels page together this time? I won't rush ahead to publish it before we both think it is fine. We can use articles like Harry Potter and Twilight (series). Sorry about rushing ahead last time, I though that it was accurate. Now do you want to work together on this? Derild4921 16:32, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Answer: Yes of course. I want these pages to contain the best content and fit with Wikipedia style guidelines. As I mentioned on the discussion pages I will look at the plot. I can start this today, but I do like to take my time. I didn't get chance to get back on last week, an unplanned medical and hospital trip came up. I will provide that info you asked for on the audiobooks. I am not very experienced at using the Wikipedia coding, so some help would be great. I'd like to get around to doing a series page - a bit like the 'Mortal engines Quartet' - this may or may not be a good example to follow, but that is the type of page I think the Tunnels series is ready for. I already have character information ready for that. (Lifesawhirl (talk) 10:39, 23 August 2010 (UTC))[reply]

I hope you do not feel that I have Bitten you, I sincerely think you have done some good work improving content on Wikipedia. However, the advocacy for certain positions on the Tunnels pages has been very unproductive, consuming large amounts of time for multiple editors and appears not to have much grounding in policies despite the "truthfulness" of your arguements. Wikipedia is a frustrating mess, especially with some of the policies, but you could imagine how difficult it is to use the official website and fan websites related to topics such as Scientology, it would be a mess and misrepresent real life. I digress, and I left a comment on the GA talk page. Please enjoy the cup of tea below, and if you want to collaborate on another article or topic other than the tunnels series I would love to help you!!!! Best of luck, and I rather enjoy your fan site, keep up the good work, Sadads (talk) 13:39, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is cake too!!!!

Excellent, I like it :) thank-you. If I knew how to, I would send you a slice. Tea and cake always brightens my day, cheers.

Yet again Wikipedia delete an image to a book cover, that can be verified on thousands of pages in the public domain!! You send me a message saying it will be deleted after 15th Jan, but it seems this deletion has already been carried out. If there is a problem with the source or description a brief internet search would reveal no end of 'suitable' sources to resolve this!! Much more helpful to correct the file description than delete the cover image of a clearly well published book! (Lifesawhirl (talk) 20:36, 9 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]
