Font[edit]

Hi, per WP:TALK#Markup would you mind not using the "Chiller" font on talk pages? It is incredibly difficult to read, especially with it being another color too. Metros232 18:46, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I read WP:TALK#Markup & it doesnt say I'm not allowed to use another font or colour. I use it bc it helps me see the differences. How /where did u read something that I posted anyways?Lilkunta 18:49, 4 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

It says you should not use html mark-up which is what you're using to make the font a different color. It is very unbearable to read. Metros232 18:59, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where r u reading it? Lilkunta 19:07, 4 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I'm reading it right here right now, aren't I? It doesn't matter where I saw it because you post it on every talk page you post on it appears. Metros232 19:08, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1) I am adding this section ( again I guess ). I thought I made 1 already/b4 but I dont c it.

2) My user page is my user page. My disc page is my disc page. I am keeping it the way I like it.

3) It does matter where bc I dont know how u came across me. Wiki world is so big. Lilkunta 19:23, 4 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Feel free to use it on your userpage, but right now, you're using it on someone else's userpage. That is where the problem is. EVula // talk // // 19:55, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The place you posted was not your user talk page. So you're using that font in other people's talk pages and making it impossible to read messages to them on their own talk page. If you want to keep your font here, sure, whatever, but on other talk pages it is wholely inappropriate. Metros232 23:56, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

& again, WHERE was this post. Y r u asking me about it and not the owner of the page? Out of the blue u sent me a message telling me what I can & cannot do. If u dont want me to use color on ur disc page, that is fine. No more messages. Lilkunta 15:58, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The quote from WP:TALK#Markup is "Avoid HTML markup:
Use of HTML markup where equivalent wikimarkup works fine is frowned upon, except the use of the <s> (strike-through) operator."
In other words, your use of green Chiller font, while not expressly prohibited, is not welcome. Joie de Vivre 18:48, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Joie, pls do not send me any messages.Lilkunta 18:54, 5 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Please use User talk page when posting comments to users, messages posted on User pages will not be seen immediately and the You have new messages bar will not appear. Thanks - Tellyaddict 17:27, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I do. What specifically r u referencing Lilkunta 18:27, 5 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

R u watching my page? I didnt even post a reply 2 u until now. Anyways, did u rd what I posted? Your buttons rnt working. I was/am redirected to the same page( user page not disc page) which is y I posted there'here ( on ur user page ). Maybe u should log out & c what I mean. Here they are again: Post to TA that 'post new message button does not work'. "If you want to leave me a message please click the blue message bar above this and leave your message!" ---> What blue bar? All I see if the beach image and a 'Happy Easter' sign. I am not meaning to mes with your page. Pls provide directions as to where the button is. Thx. Lilkunta 18:52, 5 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

You put the message on the User page, instead of on the User Talk page. Joie de Vivre 18:48, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

R u watching my page? Again Joie, pls do not send me any messages.Lilkunta 18:53, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please will you type properly, this shortening words down (like please to plz) is OK sometimes but it is highly annoying and makes browsing through messages hard, also, their is no sentence saying about to leave me a new message click the blue bar, I removed the blue bar and the sentence ages ago, here are the diffs of when you have repeatedly posted to the wrong place [1], and multiple ones here. I no when you type User:Tellyaddict it is a navigation page and it leads to User:Tellyaddict/User but I just make the link say Userpage even though you are already viewing my userpage, so if you wish to reply please reply here and not here. Thank you! Tellyaddict 20:08, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes there is! Tell look at ur page! After the smile it says If you want to leave me a message please click the blue message bar above this and leave your message!; but I dont c a message or a blue bar. I told u I didnt post on the page on purpose, I posted to where I was redirected to. I think u should log out & view ur page bc there is a diff in how u r seeing ur page vs how I'm seeing ur page.Lilkunta 20:15, 5 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

To be fair, Tellyaddict, your talk page does say "If you want to leave me a message please click the blue message bar above this". That shouldn't stop Lilkunta though, because if he read that, then he should have been in the right place to leave you a message, and therefore wouldn't have thought it proper to leave it on your user page. Leebo T/C 20:18, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thx for the support. Who says I'm a he? It DID stop me bc I was redirected to where I posted the message. I posted the message where I thought it was to go, I wouldnt and dont on purpose mess with other's user pages. That is ones to decorate.Lilkunta 20:32, 5 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

So their is (i was wrong), I will removed it but please use proper words as I find it difficult to quickly read messages and respond, I may begin ignoring if you do not post on my talk page appropriately and as I ask. Thanks.Tellyaddict

Your font[edit]

I, and I'm sure others, find your font to be extremely distracting and difficult to read. Please read the talk page guidelines for info on what is generally accepted for fonts. The only reason I can see for making your font so small and non-standard is to cause people difficulty in reading it. Leebo T/C 18:59, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Am I on some kind of target list? I do not appreciate these repeated messages. Pls leave me alone.Lilkunta 19:01, 5 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

People are allowed to express their concerns to you, especially when you are using a disruptive font on pages that are not your own. Leebo T/C 19:04, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive fonts? I have conversated with admins an rec'd no complaints, but am getting complaints from u, whatever. What page did u view my 'disruptive fonts'? Lilkunta 19:13, 5 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Um, this one. I have to move my face 2 inches away from my monitor to view your font. Please stop using the following tag
<FONT FACE="Comic Sans MS" SIZE-"3" COLOR="green"> Your font size is HTML class 2, which is only 1 above the smallest HTML Font class. Comic Sans MS is also not a font that is on all computers. Please use the standard font and color. Cascadia TALK| HISTORY 19:15, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Lilkunta, I ran into your message on Tellyaddict's page and I have to second Leebo's comment, it's almost illegible. As a courtesy to other editors, you should make your font somewhat more legible. This is not a personal slight on your editing capabilities, or anything like that, but merely a request to keep this place clear, transparent and easy to use. Thanks, – Riana 19:15, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I also read your comments to Tellyaddict, but you have used this font on many user talk and article talk pages. Riana's right; I'm not trying to attack you, I just can't read what you post. If you reply, please restrict your reply to this page (so I don't have to format your font on my page). Leebo T/C 19:20, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What is illegible? This isnt handwriting, it is crisp clear typed letters. I see it all fine. Maybe its ur webbrowser. Is ur trouble that the post is too light? Is this better? Is it too small? Should I try size 3,4,5? Where is the wiki page for fonts and font colours?Lilkunta 20:20, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lilkunta, I told you not to reply on my page with that font. You shouldn't not be changing your font at all. That should be clear enough. To answer your question, yes size 2 is extremely tiny, and Comic Sans MS isn't a font that is supported by all browsers. People without that font will not be able to read anything you write. Again - you shouldn't be altering your font at all, it's distracting. And definitely don't use that font on my talk page. Leebo T/C 20:23, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Leebo, I read ur 20:23 post. Pls dont be rude. Who says I'm not to change my font? It isnt clear. If I tell u to change ur signature 2 a plain 1, will u? I see others who post in diff sizes and scripts. I guess I'm lucky that my browser reads everything.
So its Comic Sans MS that throws u off? What do my posts look like 2 u? Too light? Too dark ? Too small? I dont get what u meant when u said u had to move back in order to read my posts. I didnt know that all browsers dont ( ur particular browser doesnt) read/register/recognise Comic Sans MS.
Also, what about my other question? Should I try size 3,4,5? Where is the wiki page for fonts and font colours?Lilkunta 21:10, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a screenshot of what your font looks like. 21:22, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Lilkunta, I'm not trying to be rude. What I'm saying is there shouldn't be a need to change your font, and you kept using it on my page (and then I had to remove your markup) after I asked you not to, so I may have sounded curt. As for your question about what it looks like, this is what it looks like in my browser. See the difference, just in size, between your font and the default font, not to mention the letters of Comic Sans MS. Leebo T/C 22:03, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. That is weird Leebo. U dont wonder y ur browser doesnt read Comic Sans MS? In future I wont use Comic Sans MS on ur page. But green is okay to use right? Glad we've come to an understanding. Lilkunta 00:39, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ULYSSES: How do I change my font colour/size so every 1 may easily read my posts?[edit]

Thx Ulysses. Yes I do need help with 1 more thing. R u having trouble w/ reading my posts to you? Leebo sees this & this but I dont. Sometimes I dont see Comic Sans MS font but just plain font that is green. What do you see? I will stop using Comic Sans MS if I may use another font. I will change colour if I'm able to use another colour. How should I modify ? If there is a wiki page 4 fonts & font colours, pls link me to it. Thx! Lilkunta 00:46, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no wiki page on font and font colors because they are not appropriate for wiki pages. See, I'm not the only one who's had major issues with your font, it is ridiculous to read. Metros232 01:56, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To Ulysses not u. Pls dont talk to me.
Do you not understand not to use that font on my user talk page? Metros232 02:07, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lilkunta, the easiest way to not add font is to not add the font tag to the beginning, just type directly into the edit box. It will come up as I am typing right now. If you need to bold a particular word, then place ''' on either side of the word you wish to bold. Two of these will do Italics. This is particularly why when you open a page to edit it, you'll notice there are no buttons for "Font Face" or "font size", as they are to be used very sparingly and only when absolutely necessary. To indent, place : at the beginning of each new paragraph, two will indent twice, three will indent three times. The same is true for bullets, only substitute *. Metros232 and any other user has the right to bring an issue to your talk page. Cascadia TALK| HISTORY 02:08, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personally I don’t have a problem with your choosing to use a different font or color than the default for posting on talk pages, though it is fairly unusual and puts you in a minority of users. Most users only use different fonts and colors for their signature. I do feel, however, that if someone objects to your use of the non-standard font on their personal page I would respect their wishes and either not post on their page or post using the defaults. As to the readability of your posts I will admit that the combination of the changed font, light color and at least the illusion of small size does make it much harder to read. If you are especially enamored of the Comic Sans MS font and green color then I would suggest a larger font size to help make your posts more easily readable. Also, the use of HTML is discouraged generally in favor of CSS. I will admit that I have very little experience with this as I tend to use the defaults myself.--Ulysses411 04:24, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if you are going to use HTML to change your font please be sure to type /font (with the <>) after your message so you will close the font change. Otherwise this will cause everything after your message, including the posts of others, to appear in your font. This may be one of the reasons why other users have been so upset by your use of the font.--Ulysses411 05:29, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A warning[edit]

This is a warning from an administrator on this whole situation: Do not make your posts a different color, font, or anything on Wikipedia. We are trying to build an encyclopedia, and your posting in green and whatever font it is (it shows up as Times New Roman for me because my computer does not have that font) is disruptive. There is no need to post anything in color on Wikipedia unless it is your signature.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 20:57, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: I recently found this post at the noticeboard and this is why fonts are annoying to some users. I like different fonts like these but if people request you to not use this font then at least use something else that won't annoy people. -- Hdt83 Chat 20:59, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Response: Well, u should use a diffrent font that won't annoy others. If you have a word processor (ms word, etc.) you can copy the fonts there over to Wikipedia. As for just having the words green you can use <font face = "Times New Roman" size = "2" color = "green">. Oh and I don't usually post in diffrent colors or fonts because they can really get people mad and some admins might even block you for it. -- Hdt83 Chat 21:18, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
P.S We are not trying to bully you, its just that your fonts are unacceptable to some users. I personally dont mind fonts and colors but please try to at least use fonts that don't cause peoples' eyes to burn. -- Hdt83 Chat 21:28, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The idea is that having a disruptive or colorful font doesn't assist you in building the encyclopedia -- it deters users from communicating with you, which is the opposite of the way it should be. Leebo T/C 21:29, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

stop[edit]

This is your last warning.
The next time you use a ridiculous font in a ridiculous color like you did here after being warned not to, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia by an administrator such as myself, Ryulong, or any other admin. Metros232 21:14, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Other replies[edit]

People can leave you comments whether you want them to, or not. Metros232 can leave you messages and there's nothing that would have to be done about it.

And it is plainly stated that you are not allowed to use the <font> tags when posting on talk pages.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 21:45, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Communication[edit]

Hi! When you communicate with other users, please try to use complete sentences and full words instead of shorthand phrases and abbreviations. Clear and fluent communication will guarantee that you:

  1. articulate your ideas clearly;
  2. are not insulted;
  3. do not appear to be insulting others;
  4. are taken seriously; and
  5. appear professional and mature.

Please take this advice into consideration so that you can improve as an editor. Thanks for helping Wikipedia! — Deckiller 22:05, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am merely trying to give you some pointers, but if you feel that you are being treated unfairly, please respond directly to those you feel are acting uncivil. If that doesn't work, I recommend taking a look at Wikipedia:Resolving disputes. However, uncivil behavior does not necessarily fall under administrative abuse, because it does not involve abuse of the tools. — Deckiller 22:21, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Some of their recommendations have some weight. It's usually best to use plain font like everyone else (fancy signatures are usually fine) to keep talk pages consistent. Uncivil behavior is done by all users, and not just administrators, so the channels are different; however, I believe the administrators were acting in what they belived to be the best choice of action, so they were not doing it to be rude. Your best bet is to take their advice and use the regular font for talkpages; this way, you can ensure that nobody will have issues with you in that respect. By the way, you can use your font and markup skills to your advantage by designing userpages, signatures, and infoboxes; it's usually fine to use different colors and fonts in these areas. You might even be able to get a side hobby in helping design userpages :) — Deckiller 22:44, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My problem is not with you. Ur post 2 me was polite & fine. I am having trouble with other admins. I've asked repeatedly to be left alone. I feel like every time I post I get a slew of posts with -with warnings, -telling me that I'm wrong.

I dont quite understand, I'm unable to get help bc admins rnt abusing tools? Lilkunta 22:37, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Admin abuse means that administrators are abusing the tools that admins are given. Just because you don't like hearing what admins are saying to you doesn't make it admin abuse. When they aren't using their admin tools, they're just editors. Leebo T/C 22:43, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hdt83 response[edit]

No, I don't have any problems with the fonts as long as they are legible. I suggest that you try to not provoke Metros bcuz he will block you if he really wants to. As long as you don't use the Comic Sans MS font or colors too much you should be ok. This event will clear itself in a couple of days provided you don't use fonts that they don't like. Hopefully what happened here doesn't discourage you from editing here. -- Hdt83 Chat 22:33, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not trying to provoke Metros. If u look u'll c I repeatedly asked him ( I'm saying him bc u said he, I dont know what he is ) to stop posting 2 me . I think he is watching my page bc anytime I do anything he comments. He even repeatedly edited my disc page even after I asked him not to, then Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Lilkunta reported me bc I refused help that I never asked him 4! How is it fair for Metros 2 block me bc of a post 2 ur or some 1 else's disc page? If metros blocks me it is unfair. Lilkunta 22:59, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last warning. You have already been warned that WP:TALK#Markup states: Avoid HTML markup. Should you continue, you will be blocked for disruption. IrishGuy talk 23:29, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Font issues[edit]

Lilkunta, why is it that having your very own special font and color is vitally important to you, but typing complete words and sentences is not worth your effort? You ought to seriously check your priorities and try to work with everyone instead of starting petty disputes like this. You've made a number of useful edits but you're not going to accomplish much here unless you can show some civility and professionalism. Philwelch 07:43, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I prefer this font and colour. If u dont like the way I post dont engage me. Chk ur priorities. I didnt start any dispute. Metros did bc he was mad I didnt keep his version of my page. I used Comic Sans MS bc I see it fine. Among all u, only Leebos was helpful. I think something has changed in the Wikipedia system[edit]

I think something has changed in the Wikipedia system, however, because on my talk page where you had the colored font, suddenly the formatting became all messed up (particularly the subheads) and it was only fixed when I removed the color change. It wasn't doing it before when you left messages and we were discussing things re:Angelina Jolie; it's only started in the last few days and I checked other people's additions to my talk page since your previous message and they didn't have any coding that should have messed things up. So my first impression was that Wiki changed the coding somehow. I noticed the color was also removed from the Angelina Jolie talk page but I've been offline for a few days so I don't know if a similar mess-up was occuring there. Please leave a test message on my talk page; I'm curious to see if it is in fact your coding that's doing it or if maybe it was something else. I don't see any problems on your talk page here with your use of the color so this is a bit of a puzzle. 23skidoo 01:02, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Evening 24skidoo, I knew & said something changed in wiki! But all the admins/editors just called me wrong, kept changing my page, & a whole bunch of other bull. My page had my posts in green & others posts in black but then something happened & the whole page turned turned green! I was told it was bc I didnt close my colour with </font> but I've never closed with </font> & the posts after mine werent green. Pls look at my archive bc it too turned green. What do u think caused the change?

PS: U never answered my question. _Lilkunta 01:41, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if anything was changed or not. Your test message to me worked fine, without messing anything up in my headers or anything, so maybe it was just a glitch. I never saw the question you posted because it got buried by other messages left on my talk page - no I haven't seen Carrey's film yet, but I plan to eventually since it ties in with some of the writings of William S. Burroughs and Robert Anton Wilson, from whom i was inspired to use the 23skidoo nick. 23skidoo 03:01, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I created your userpage as an attempt to contact you while your kept editing your talk page. I apologize if this was not what you wanted, but at times people must do what is done to get things done. As far as the fixing of your page, since each time you saved it you stated you were trying to fix it but were not getting anywhere, and since I had already gone through and removed the problem tags, I attempted to assist you. If our discussion was a major ordeal for you, the best thing for you to do in the future is when someone brings an issue to you, take their concern to heart and actually see what can be done to reach a compromise. Anytime anyone has attempted to work with you you have either blown up at them, or simply stated that you wish to not speak with them anymore. Unfortunately, Lilkunta, every editor here you will have to work with and collaborate with. I said I wont put colour on u all's pages, but I will have colour/font on mine. This u all didnt like nor accept and kept reverting & then the ANI happened.
