Proposed deletion of Betsy Fagin[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Betsy Fagin, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --Bsnowball (talk) 12:25, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi, sorry about that. I've recreated the article from an off-site archive in your user-space here so that you can work on it there. The problem is that it has to meet the criteria for inclusion at WP:BIO#Creative professionals. I was wrong about only self-published, so that helps, but I'm not sure that the author meets these criteria. We're going to need multiple references from independent reliable sources, that is journal articles, established online magazines etc. (weblogs generally won't do per the guidelines). Sorry about all this, but wikipedia is fairly picky about procedure, basicly we have to prove that enough people are interested in a topic. Fagin may not meet these guidelines at the moment. Good luck, and feel free to ask me any further questions/explanations on my talk page. Thanx, Ben.--Bsnowball (talk) 06:55, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Betsy Fagin[edit]

I have nominated Betsy Fagin, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Betsy Fagin. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. gnfnrf (talk) 22:50, 4 October 2008 (UTC) gnfnrf (talk) 22:50, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • In my brief research, it appears that Anselm Berrigan has published far more material than Betsy Fagin (125 google books refs vs. only 6), been discussed in criticism vastly more (25 google scholar vs 5), and is generally better known. While the google test is inadequate for deletion arguments, it serves here as a quick substitute. You are correct, the Anselm Berrigan article, as it currently stands, is poorly sourced and does not do a good job asserting notability. But deletion is about the subject, not (usually) the article. I believe that the Anselm Berrigan article could be fixed, and I didn't think that about Betsy Fagin. If you want to prove me wrong, feel free, but remember that, unless the article is substantially different from the deleted one, it may be subject to speedy deletion under CSD G4. I recommend reading the notability guidelines for creative professionals at WP:CREATIVE. Conversely, if you think Anselm Berrigan is not sufficiently notable for wikipedia, you can propose deletion if you believe removal would be uncontroversial, or take it to AfD yourself. gnfnrf (talk) 20:26, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. I'd like to suggest this page be reinstated as Betsy Fagin now has more publications from larger publishers, include a new book in 2015. Please revisit this page. I've added relevant links and citations to it.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Betsy Fagin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
