FPC Terragen[edit]

Yeah, I know - I featured it! I have the same username on the Commons.(Hope you like it}. See you around --Fir0002 08:55, May 31, 2005 (UTC)

Maybe I was not clear: you did not follow the standard format 100% - that is all! LoopZilla 10:10, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Dracaena photo[edit]

Thanks! - MPF 15:41, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

My pleasure... and don't forget to vote :-) LoopZilla 17:00, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Am I allowed to vote for myself? Thought that was unethical! Suppose I could actually as my mother took the photo . . . MPF 17:14, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Yes, you can for yourself. I often do.... :-) LoopZilla 17:50, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Thanks! The blue sky unfortunately isn't right, it was light overcast (thin high cloud) at the time the usual weather for northern Tenerife (note no sharp shadow from the tree!) - MPF 12:47, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I decided **not** to paint the sky, since I am not Monet or Turner :-) LoopZilla 12:52, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Picture[edit]

ok... if you know how to correct pictures be my guest. --Pedro 22:48, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

OK..... I will have a look! LoopZilla 12:35, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I have nominated commons:Image:Hilbert_transform.png for Commons "Featured Picture" status LoopZilla 2005-07-02 19:54:31 (UTC)

Awesome! Did you see commons:Image:Weighting curves.png? That has more in it.
They certainly took me a lot of time and work to figure out... But now I can make similar graphs relatively easily using the same commands. - Omegatron July 2, 2005 19:57 (UTC)
I like the Hilbert transform for the simplicity and symmetry... LoopZilla 2005-07-02 20:54:06 (UTC)

Com FPC[edit]

Hi LoopZilla, Those objects are our chicken coops, I'll submit a copy with them removed later today. --Fir0002 July 4, 2005 23:32 (UTC)

Have removed them --Fir0002 July 5, 2005 02:18 (UTC)

Stoke Newington Station photos[edit]

Thanks for your comments on the images, I'm new to this and will try and upload some more Hackney related stuff in due course... John Eden 15:45, 11 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have just added a new image to the River_Lee article LoopZilla 22:13:47, 2005-07-11 (UTC)

Classical Spectacular[edit]

Hi Loopzilla,

If there are restrictions on taking photos I had no idea! I didn't use flash as I thought that this would put off the players (altough I did notice a couple of people in the audience using flashes. Do you think that it is a problem and should they be deleted? Seems a shame as I'm pretty proud of them - not using a tripod or flash in those low light conditions. --Fir0002 08:00, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park[edit]

I took the photo, I'm the webmistress of www.towerhamletscemetery.org!

Excellent - please make that clear!!! Pleased to meet you. I live in E14 and know Kevin (Ken??) who also works at Mudchute LoopZilla 08:12:40, 2005-07-20 (UTC)

We share Ken with Mudchute at the moment, we're hoping as soon as we can get enough sponsorship that we can keep him all to ourselves, he's doing a brilliant job clearing the pathways, advertising our presence, getting volunteers in to do loads of work :)

Ken visited "Trussler Hall Community Garden" (please drop in!) and I have also been on a walk with him in THCP. See Image:Tower_Hamlets_Cemetery_Park.jpg which I took on the day! See also Image:Will_Crooks_Memorial.jpg which is GFDL'ed in case you want to use it. Another image of ours has appeared here [1]

Commons featured pictures (candidates)[edit]

Thanks again for taking care in my photograph. What I did with the picture was the following (all done in Photoshop 7.0)

  1. Flipped it vertically
  2. Cropped the upper part
  3. Performed "auto-color", "auto-contrast" and "auto-levels"
  4. Applied filter "Sharpen" (only once)
  5. Saved in maximum JPEG resolution

Maybe some step produced the jpeg artifacts people have been talking about. Honestly, since I am an amateur, I don't know.

Therefore I have uploaded my very original here:

I would really appreciate your comments on the original, what to do, and even if you try to have a go on it yourself!

I'd be glad to hear from you on my talk page.

Regards, and thanks again, Dna-Dennis 15:37, 31 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimania[edit]

Re here. Hi there - thanks - I'm just buzzing from Wikimania and all the discussions I had, people I met... Which has made me not remember your user name from the conference. Can you tell me where we met? :) Cormaggio 08:17, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Of course! It's just I didn't remember your user name so that's good to know. I missed my flight by a couple of minutes but they put me on the next one at 7:30. I emailed you too. Cheers, and we'll talk again, maybe meet up as well.. Cormaggio 11:32, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
We had a feeling you might just miss it.... :-) LoopZilla 13:40:24, 2005-08-09 (UTC)

stalking[edit]

Hey,

fair point re-stalking. The problem with Skyring was different. Issues he never had shown the slightest interest in suddenly became a topic he was devoted to the moment I touched an article. If I wrote about the Irish presidency, he targeted all the pages I touched. When I fixed a box on a former US treasury secretary he suddenly developed an interest in it. If I wrote about a royal, within a short time that became a topic of interest. If I commented on a talk page, he would appear on it to disagree. If he hadn't been banned, you'd find he'd appear here as soon as he saw that I had edited it, and made some abusive comment about me. Topics that he never ever touched or showed the slightest interest in, became his latest interest from the moment I edited them. At one stage he went straight to a page I had marginally edited and immediately proposed a VfD. His antics horrified members of the ArbComm and Jimbo. When User:Petaholmes criticised what he was doing, he then began stalking her, including right abusive claims about her off Wikipedia. That is the background to why he was banned. I see. Thanks for that. 18:31:31, 2005-08-22 (UTC)

Big Brother[edit]

Not so much. I was just looking for unused images on commons and saw something I recognised so found an article to put it in. :) Angela. 08:37, August 31, 2005 (UTC)

A common activity... ; LoopZilla 08:50:11, 2005-08-31 (UTC)

Meetup[edit]

Heya,

Just a quick note to remind you of the London Meetup this coming Sunday (the 11th of September) that you signed up for (as 'definite', but it's always good to check ;-)). It's at the Archery Tavern, just next to Lancaster Gate tube station, from 13:00 (BST) onwards.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 13:45, 7 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ta muchly LoopZilla 23:34:30, 2005-09-07 (UTC)

Hi Loopzilla[edit]

Why can't I email you from the user page? (I can now Szczels 13:29, 8 September 2005 (UTC)) Anyway I'll write away... I got Sean the historian to upload his comment by phoning him and going through the process (mainly of getting the address line correct!) with him from work. Szczels 12:40, 8 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

SVGs[edit]

That's pretty neat. Unfortunately at the moment that doesn't work so well with mine because their page dimensions are a lot larger than the image itself. But I can fix that. Thanks. --Fastfission 02:02, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Glad you liked it! LoopZilla 08:38:32, 2005-09-11 (UTC)

We met at the meetup?[edit]

I take it you are the chap I was talking to about the behemoth that is Shirley Porter? Nice to meet you -max rspct 14:29, 14 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

oops, oh you're that dude! I wished I had stayed longer to chat and quizz! U no a younger version of Adam Hart-Davis (bloke on tv does the tax adverts)?? -max rspct 21:23, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Adam Hart-Davis is (was?) "the face of the BBC's output on science and the history of science". He also rides a bike! I do not write a bike, but I have been to Orford Ness LoopZilla 08:40, 19 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

TubeMap_Zone1[edit]

Thanks for your proposal to nominate the Tube Map diagram. The only problem with it at the moment is the symbol that I used to denote interchange stations: I believe this glyph is copyright by National Rail and hence inappropriate for Wikipedia. Strictly we should delete the entire diagram, but I am hoping to find time to modify it to avoid this copyright issue. Time is also the reason why www.mytube.org is off-air at the moment. I would like to offer the diagram up for collaboration for this exact reason. --Dominic Sayers 08:20, 6 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I've uploaded an SVG version and replaced the copyrighted symbols with my own ones. However, the diagram now looks bloody awful. The Wikipedia renderer obviously doesn't like the SVG code that Microsoft Visio produces. I don't think it's ready for prime time yet, so you should probably withdraw the nomination. Thanks anyway. I'll let you know when I've got the rendering problems sorted out. --Dominic Sayers 10:08, 6 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

WikiMedia UK[edit]

Hi, saw that you added your name to the list. Hope you can join the IRC session on Sunday. LoopZilla 08:39, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. At present I'm located in Canberra, Australia so the meeting will be at 3am - I doubt I'll be able to make it. However, I am moving back to the UK in December and will be in a much better position to assist then. Cheers. Andreww 09:46, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cally Cattle[edit]

Thanks for distracting me; I rewrote Gin palace instead of what I meant to do. I have a not very good picture of one of the pubs, will try again next time I walk past. Went to a great party at the Gin Palace just after it had closed before it was redeveloped. Oh and talking of cattle are there any cattle troughs there? I wrote Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association the other day and now cant find a proper cattle trough to take a picture of... Justinc 22:45, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I will see what my colleague Peter knows.... LoopZilla 08:29, 19 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, so there is an entry. I was looking for Caledonian Park, will direct the link on Islington parks and open spaces to this one. And remember those pubs well enough too, having lived on York Way :( I'm also wondering if there should be a separate district entry for Islington west of Cally Road, including the Cattle Market - it's not Barnsbury and it's not King's X. Just calling the area Caledonian Road, as in the North London Line station, might do it. Tarquin Binary 11:59, 19 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers for that Loopz! Rings a faint bell, prob cause they've been around so long. Have emailed the persercutin' councillor after reading the website... may even visit it in solidarity as i live in a somewhat similar community.. U been there or lived there? -max rspct 15:37, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No, I have never been there. As you, time to visit.... LoopZilla 22:10, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia UK[edit]

You have expressed an interest in Wikimedia UK. Just to let you know I've posted a draft Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association of the proposed "Wikimedia UK" charitable company on Wikimedia UK/Memorandum of Association and Wikimedia UK/Articles of Association. It is proposed that these will receive initial approval by interested parties at a meeting on 27 November. I will put together a brief agenda for the more formal aspects of that meeting soon. Memo and Arts of Association are a company's constitution, and need to be agreed before the company is formed (though they can be changed at a later date). Please feel free to comment on the relevant talk pages (I'd rather the proposed drafts are left unedited so that it is easy to see what is going on) - particularly if there is something there that you would disagree with at the meeting, details of which can be found on the Wikimedia UK page on Wikimedia Meta-Wiki. Kind regards, jguk 19:09, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
