Thank you

Lor, Thanks for reviewing the stub [: Draft Hradyesh] . Two clarifications requested : -(1) world records registered by the company is notable reference is that correct ? (2) After checking the reflinks shortlisted 15 independent sources from respective world record registrars , newspaper and magazines using the find sources tool -cited in the end of each paragraph does that require restructuring too? Your inputs will be helpful. Thanks again and appreciate your efforts . Disambiguity

Hi,

The changes i Made were to address adding a disambiguity entry needing to be made (which I did put comments in for).

Can you explain the right procedure for dong this if I did it incorrectly?

(Redacted) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Greg Short (talkcontribs)

Nope @Greg Short:. You did it correctly. Also, are you happy with the implications with using a Real name? LorChat 00:11, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Renee Richetts article

I was wondering what an appropriate link would be for the page regarding Renee Richetts. I was also wondering what a reliable source would be. If I add a reliable source does Wikipedia automaticly take away the deletion notice? Thank yo for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Knexmaster (talkcontribs) 23:34, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

@Knexmaster: Have a look at our External link guidelines For more informations. Cheers LorChat 23:37, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

I added a reliable source to my article. What do I do to get Wikipedia to not delete my article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Knexmaster (talkcontribs) 00:34, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Thank you and question

Thank you for approving the AfC submission for the Google Maps pin article.

As a new editor, I'm not yet clear on how grading is determined. Would you be so kind as to share specifically what I could improve in the article to move it beyond the "Start" grade you assigned? I do plan to expand the section on arts and popular culture as the artists in question upload relevant images.
ZaphodsCatwalk (talk) 02:27, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Hey ZaphodsCatwalk. You can find a list of assessments and the requirements for them at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Assessment FAQ. Cheers! LorChat 02:36, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
Hmmm Lor. I'll try to rephrase less diplomatically while still flexing my WP:AGF muscles.
As it happens, I am indeed familiar with the grading explanations you linked; my unclarity lies in how you applied these guidelines in the case of this particular article submission. According to Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Assessment FAQ, an article deemed "Start" level is "quite incomplete...might not cite adequate reliable sources...is weak in many areas...prose may be distinctly unencyclopedic...MoS compliance non-existent...Frequently, the referencing is inadequate."
Am I correct in understanding that this accurately reflects your assessment of the Google Maps pin article?
ZaphodsCatwalk (talk) 03:49, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
Ahhh, I see. @ZaphodsCatwalk: I think it could be worth as a C class. But I keep it as a rule to mark anything that's not a stub as start class. Mostly because I want to leave it to other editors to decide if it should be that. LorChat 03:53, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
@Lor:Hmm, that's an interesting approach. Coming at it from another angle, if I may ...
To take phrases from elsewhere in the grading guidelines:
On which points does the article in question not yet meet following standards?
- "is mostly complete and without major problems"
- "is suitably referenced, with inline citations"
- "has reliable sources"
- "format of inline citation is acceptable"
- "reasonably covers the topic, and does not contain obvious omissions or inaccuracies"
- "contains a large proportion of the material necessary for an A-Class article, although some sections may need expansion, and some less important topics may be missing"
- "has a defined structure"
- "is reasonably well-written...prose contains no major grammatical errors and flows sensibly"
- "contains supporting materials where appropriate"
- "presents its content in an appropriately understandable way"
- "is written with as broad an audience in mind as possible"
- does "not assume unnecessary technical background"
I heartily welcome specific criticism on these points concerning the Google_Maps_pin article.

Thank you for explaining that I did not fill in the "Edit Summary" Box. I still don't understand, however, if I cannot change this now, what can I do, under the circumstances, in order to bring my article into the public domain. Please explain.

Problems with Gregkaye (2)

Thank you for closing down the "discussion". I am not usually such a bad judge of people. Maybe it is something to do with online contact, where so many cues are lost. My attempts to reconcile today were obviously a waste of time and badly judged. I will have to reduce contact with this editor. Small point

Thanks for closing down my exchanges with Gregkaye yesterday and my apologies to you for the trouble they caused. I have left him a conciliatory a message on his Talk page today which I hope he will take the right way. There is one small point that bothers me slightly, which I don't want to raise with Greg for fear of causing more trouble. I struck out my main offending remark but am concerned that Greg has deleted my apology and explanation for it, "Sorry, I was provoked". I am aware that there is at least one other co-editor who has been following this upset and would not want any passer-by to misunderstand. At the moment with the remark struck out and my explanation deleted, it could look as if Greg struck out the remark himself. Knowing Greg I am quite sure he is not aware of the impression it now gives, that I had not withdrawn the remark myself and apologised. He would never want to deliberately misrepresent. If you think I am making too much of this, please ignore it, but if you can think of a gentle way to ask Greg to restore the apology and explanation, I would be grateful if you could. I have apologised to Greg for my bad behaviour yesterday in my message. We have never fallen out like this before and I am sure we both never want it to happen again. ~ P-123 (talk) 13:57, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

I have asked Gregkaye to restore my apology and explanation, but there seems to be some reluctance to do this. This is deliberate censorship. Where can I take this to be dealt with? P-123 (talk) 15:47, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Cyberbullying

Hi Lor, I'm Taichi from Spanish Wikipedia. I'm sorry but the user ELreydeEspana persist with threats and insults. Now, he threated me with caps lock, and he said at the end "you will pay me, along everyone [sysop]". So please, I need a very strong response about this cyberbullying. VisualEditor newsletter—December 2014

Screenshot showing how to add or remove columns from a table

Did you know?

Basic table editing is now available in VisualEditor. You can add and remove rows and columns from existing tables at the click of a button.

The user guide has more information about how to use VisualEditor.

Since the last newsletter, the Editing Team has fixed many bugs and worked on table editing and performance. Their weekly status reports are posted on Mediawiki.org. Upcoming plans are posted at the VisualEditor roadmap.

VisualEditor was deployed to several hundred remaining wikis as an opt-in beta feature at the end of November, except for most Wiktionaries (which depend heavily upon templates) and all Wikisources (which await integration with ProofreadPage).

Recent improvements

Basic support for editing tables is available. You can insert new tables, add and remove rows and columns, set or remove a caption for a table, and merge cells together. To change the contents of a cell, double-click inside it. More features will be added in the coming months. In addition, VisualEditor now ignores broken, invalid rowspan and colspan elements, instead of trying to repair them.

You can now use find and replace in VisualEditor, reachable through the tool menu or by pressing ⌃ Ctrl+F or ⌘ Cmd+F.

You can now create and edit simple <blockquote> paragraphs for quoting and indenting content. This changes a "Paragraph" into a "Block quote".

Some new keyboard sequences can be used to format content. At the start of the line, typing "*  " will make the line a bullet list; "1.  " or "# " will make it a numbered list; "==" will make it a section heading; ": " will make it a blockquote. If you didn't mean to use these tools, you can press undo to undo the formatting change. There are also two other keyboard sequences: "[[" for opening the link tool, and "{{" for opening the template tool, to help experienced editors. The existing standard keyboard shortcuts, like ⌃ Ctrl+K to open the link editor, still work.

If you add a category that has been redirected, then VisualEditor now adds its target. Categories without description pages show up as red.

You can again create and edit galleries as wikitext code.

Looking ahead

VisualEditor will replace the existing design with a new theme designed by the User Experience group. The new theme will be visible for desktop systems at MediaWiki.org in late December and at other sites early January. (You can see a developer preview of the old "Apex" theme and the new "MediaWiki" one which will replace it.)

The Editing team plans to add auto-fill features for citations in January. Planned changes to the media search dialog will make choosing between possible images easier.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I completely agree, but I am a bit new to Wikipedia articles creations and this being my first job - I was handed the task of creating the page for my company. The day the Tata Projects page was created, I had gone live with it, whereby now a total 2700 employees + our worldwide clients know that we have a Wikipedia page. A sudden incident like this has rattled the core of my department and I have been receiving flank from all sides for this matter. While I understand that as guardians/ admins of Wikipedia, you are able to monitor and see / delete pages that do not fit the criteria, but at least give us a warning something. Trouble with Gregkaye (3)

I am sorry to raise this matter again. This is in reference to Gregkaye's message to you today. He will not drop the matter, and now is questioning with you some alterations I made to my Talk page. (I understand from admin PBS, who I specifically asked about it, and from the Help pages that such alterations are permitted.) As you know, I have repeatedly asked Gregkaye to drop this whole matter. I told him recently that I was thinking of taking out an IBAN to stop communications but later that I would not pursue it if we could remain civil on our pages. Trouble continued, but I still said that I would not take out an IBAN. I asked him yesterday to stop communicating on our Talk pages here, but still it continues: since starting to write here I have received another message, added out of sequence at the head of that thread ("The Half Barnstar"). This is obsessive behaviour in my view and I do not know how to handle it. I will obviously not respond further to any messages from him as it always aggravates things. Please could you do what you can to stop this once and for all, or advise me what to do. I do not want to be driven to take out an IBAN, although I have prepared a request for one. ~ P-123 (talk) 09:16, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Particularly distressing is the regular interpretation of almost any comment I make now or any action I take (collapsing, deleting, redacting on my Talk page, which is permissible according to the WP help on this, as I said) as deliberately done to offend or hide. I have never liked long threads and often collapse them and my Talk page had become chaotic during my dispute with Gregkaye; any alterations are strictly to put some order back into the page. You will probably see this, but sadly I think it needs going on record, in light of the constant misinterpretations by Gregkaye. P-123 (talk) 09:47, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
After posting the above I slipped up by making another request to stop posting comments. I may be imagining it, but some of this is beginning to look like deliberate provocation. P-123 (talk) 12:44, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
Have just archived "The Half Barnstar" thread mentioned above, to stop Gregkaye leaving messages on it. P-123 (talk) 16:49, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
Have received an olive branch from Gregkaye, so your intervention may not be needed after all, if we can keep civil on our Talk pages. If it is not, I apologise for troubling you with this problem again. P-123 (talk) 21:55, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi Lor, I first placed the thread below at the bottom of your page but have moved it here to give some context to the above. Absolutely nothing has been resolved. As is, I think, evidenced in the thread below, P-123 continues to scatter WP:ASPERSIONS and WP:PAs liberally in public edits. This is an editor that protests for civility and who protests, when I once used the word "accusation" on the basis that "it doesn't help", but who can then pour out a torrent of infringement of the guides mentioned and then state that I am "too sensitive to tough language from editors".

This is also an editor that will justify, "Constant re-visitation of the same old issues" is because I feel strongly about them' but will do his/her best to prejudice a new proposal regarding an old issue that has long remained unraised and which is clearly something I feel strongly about. I have been promised that the aspersions would stop with P-123's "of course". I still hope that this promise may be fulfilled. At the very least I hope that nothing will be stated that will not be backed up with reference or citation at the same location at request. ping also @Legacypac: GregKaye 16:06, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

I am not sure why Legacypac is being drawn into this. Moral support? The usual misrepresentations abound (hard to know where to begin), and there is more craft in the latest communications on your Talk page than I thought was in this editor. I have asked admin PBS for a temporary IBAN over the holiday period. If he cannot arrange this, may I ask you to impose one, please. When it expires I can then request a longer IBAN at AN/I. (I mentioned it above.) P-123 (talk) 23:05, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
P-123 Can you please be specific in regard to the misrepresentations that you are talking about? Feel free to read my talk page. P-123 is in the habit of deleting any good will or other message I leave on his/her talk page. I have asked P-123 repeatedly not to edit within my edits and to be prepared to back up any accusations with justification as per WP:ASPERSION. I would appreciate it if you could in any way back up these requests. GregKaye 14:49, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
GregKaye: Yes. I am not happy about the charges brought of trying to prejudice editors - I take very great exception to that - of "torrents" of infringement of WP guidelines and of frequently scattering WP:PAs. The impression given is that I have deliberately set out to harm Gregkaye and I take great exception to that as well. Recently I have sometimes stated my views in quite strong language, but they were not intended as personal attacks at all, though I can understand how someone who is sensitive to criticism might see them in that way. On the prejudice point, I have filled in factual background, with links to past discussions, for newer editors. Editors have minds of their own and can make their own judgments on what is presented to them. This is the wrong forum to deal with these questions, but I thought I should at least back up my statement here about "usual misrepresentations", as it is a sweeping statement that needs justification. I say usual as there have been similar examples on our Talk pages during this dispute. My own view is that Gregkaye tends to interpret criticism of him as attack where none is intended. That is all I can fairly say here. P-123 (talk) 16:34, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
P-123 As genuine cases of misrepresentation you have described my asking and challenging of editors not to violate guidelines such as WP:PA and WP:INDCRIT as attempting "to silence other editors" and have described a discussion on the content of the first section of the lead a "very important discussion on NPOV"? These are specific examples. Everyone can think what they like. They can also express what they like. On Wikipedia we should all attempt to work within guidelines. I am perfectly fine with any language as strong as you like. Just please cite or reference your accusation. Talking about "similar examples on our Talk pages during this dispute" is not citation. GregKaye 14:49, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

15:29:21, 26 December 2014 review of submission by Breamk

You declined this article for notability. I wonder if you might be confusing notability with famous or infamous ness or if there is another reason for declining.

1. The subject was written about in the Lagos newspaper and the article cites that. 2. The subject was recognized for their work with superlative language by the Nigerian national government. 3. The subject received an OBE from the British monarchy as cited. 4. The subject is recognized for founding a hospital by the hospital 5. The subject had a locomotive named after them.

These five points of notability are independent of the subject, are cited in the article, and demonstrate recognition at the national level in two different countries.

Is there something about the article besides notability that led to the declination?

Bullying again (II part)...

Hi Lor, I'm Taichi from Spanish Wikipedia. I'm searching for help about a very serious issue from ELreydeEspana. he was locked by a steward after he insult some users from Spanish, French and Italian Wikipedias. But, he evaded the lock and with other IPs he tries to continue the bullying. He was MariaTudor1DeInglaterra (locked), 190.148.175.47, 190.56.124.126 186.151.23.242 and now with Maria Tudor y Felipe II. If you check with SUL tools you'll find a sort of insults, vandalisms and threats of this user from last week.

Also he threated to steward Teles after the lock. He thinks that all this is justice, but he's pushing to Spanish Wikipedia, Spanish Wikibooks, Spanish Wikinews, French Wikipedia and Italian Wikipedia sysops to a inevitable hunting, and I appeal to English Wikipedia sysops because, ELreydeEspana use this wiki as refugee for his bad actions.

If you don't believe me, see the editions in other wikis, and his blocks. He persist a futile battle against 10 different users, and each day add more "enemies" in his list. --Taichi (talk) 04:16, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

@Taichi: I suggest just following the Cycle of Sockpuppet Investigation, block, Repeat. On the Wiki's he's using. If a wiki does not have any Sort of process then ask a steward. This may warrant a Long term abuse case later on. Sorry if this does not help, but there's not much we can do about this except just keep following the processes that are made to stop this kind of abuse. If any off Wiki issues happen though, i suggest contacting a Arbcom or a Administrator in private for advice. LorHo ho ho 04:57, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks Lor for your advice, I reported in Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/ELreydeEspana. --Taichi (talk) 05:42, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
Currently, I was created a new page (Italian Panamanian), I contributed 25% or more of the section ethnic groups in Latin America, and since yesterday not make personal attacks, I will not apologize to you or the users of wikipedia in spanish, where anyone can vandalize such as Marovi, and if he receives medals, before criticizing me better look at my work, an example to see my pages and the quality of wikipedista I am, but nobody observes my work:

and others much (Maria Tudor y Felipe II) 13:09 24/12/2014 (UTC)

Hi Lor, I have a problem in the SPI page. He accused me as "worm's brain" and another insults (all in Spanish, because is more easy to insult me and some users can't understand Spanish) and sincerley I can't tolerate more. He can freely defend with etiquette, but I don't accept that bad behavior. --Taichi (talk) 01:11, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
@Maria Tudor y Felipe II: Please do not create more than one account, you will be blocked on sight if proof suggests that you have more than one account. @Taichi:  Seen comment LorHo ho ho 03:11, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
Hi Lor, it's possible semiprotect this article? He persist with his edit war. Thanks. --Taichi (talk) 01:25, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Request added at WP:RPP LorHo ho ho 01:36, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

This user has a sockmasteer tag on it's page, but it's not acctually indef'd. Should I tell a sysop, or just revert your edit? TF { Contribs } 08:55, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

@Titusfox: Replace it with a tag that does not suggest that they are blocked. Such as {{Sockpuppeteer}} and such. LorHo ho ho 09:02, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks! I didn't know what to do there! He has been proven to use accounts in an SPI, but why isn't he blocked? TF { Contribs } 09:09, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Not sure, i'll poke an admin about it. I'm right now on IRC so i should be able to get ahold of one quite quickly. LorHo ho ho 09:10, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
@Titusfox: As far as i can see they are Globaly locked, this means that they cannot edit any Wikimedia Project. Basically the same as getting Indef'd LorHo ho ho 09:16, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
