Speedy deletion of Folie a deux winery[edit]

A tag has been placed on Folie a deux winery requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 18:46, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Folie a deux winery[edit]

Hello, I saw the discussion over at Talk:Folie a deux winery. I don't really know if it's notable or not (California is not exactly the wine region I know best), but I think I can spot why some "non-wine general editors" see it like an advertisement. The phrases "dream of making wine" and "shared fantasies" followed by an external link probably makes it look like a way of drawing visitors to the webplace. To avoid the type of discussions you got, which I suppse can be a bit irritating and taking energy away from doing constructive edits, I recommend to focus on "hard facts" when you start a winery article - years, size of vineyards, grape varieties, production, turnover - if they are available. In my eyes, that makes a winery article much more encyclopedic. Regards, Tomas e (talk) 17:17, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Smith-madrone vineyards and winery requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Movingboxes (talk) 15:47, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I removed the notability tag--thanks for getting the sources on the article so quickly and for being nice about things. I hope I didn't come across as a jerk. Good luck continuing your project to add wine information to Wikipedia. I'll think of you and the rest of the WikiProject Wine next time I'm picking out a bottle! Movingboxes (talk) 16:17, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What you can do is click the tab at the top that says "Move" (it is between "history" and "watch," and you do have to be logged in to see it). When it opens up, you type what you want to move the page to (in this case Smith-Madrone Vineyards and Winery) and type your reasons (in this case, proper capitalization--just put in whatever will let other editors know why you did it). Submit it and the page is moved. The article's talk page is automatically moved as well. This was a pretty simple move and I went ahead and did it already. If you're contemplating a more complicated move in the future, take a look at WP:RM. Movingboxes (talk) 04:56, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An article that you have been involved in editing, Folie à Deux (winery), has been listed for deletion. If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Folie à Deux (winery). Thank you.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:01, 9 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RE: The cheese impresario article[edit]

First of all, my apologies for taking so long to reply to you. I have been away travelling for 4 months and have not visited Wikipedia in all that time.

I note that I added the tags in March and, to be perfectly honest, I really can't remember exactly why. I think I was probably concerned that notability may be a problem if the subject was of purely local significance ("public personality in Hollywood, California", does not suggest wider notability) and that, just being an educator (I'm one) or writer (I've done that) are not in themselves sufficient to confer what Wikipedia woud deem to be notability. That's why I placed the notability tag, to raise the question - it was not to say that Barrie Lynn is NOT notable. In fact, on re-reading today I accept that that this may have been an overly harsh view on my part. I notice that you have removed the tag, and I have no problem with this.

However, you also removed the "orphan" tag. This is used, as it states, because an "article is an orphan, as few or no other articles link to it." This certainly does apply to The Cheese Impresario so I have reinstated that tag. It is often the case that orphaned articles are about non-notable subjects, so that may have clouded my judgement in the first place.

Once again, my apologies for taking so long to respond. Emeraude (talk) 13:02, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
