COI disclosures[edit]

Information icon

Hello Luewia. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Luewia. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Luewia|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Kuru (talk) 12:32, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to understand the relation between this account and Gaztrorio as well. Kuru (talk) 12:37, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I included almost everything related to E-commerce in Sri Lanka. And yes I have made edits regarding price comparison websites earlier. Yes I understand that those edits weren't that good. And yes I have improved myself. Sri Lanka only has two price comparison websites to-date which is the sole reason I added those two comparison sites under the heading price comparison websites in sri lanka for which I provided valid newspaper references.

Could you explain why this has been removed and how it becomes COI?

Regarding my relationship with Gaztrario? You tell me? This could be someone at my work place or probably from high school. I know because I've seen that name but I don't recall where.

FYI I have no gain in creating pages no promoting anything here. I won't argue why the only two price comparison websites aren't going to make it to the page I created. If it doesn't relate to E-commerce in Sri Lanka, my humble apologies. Also it would be great if you would tell me what more I could add up? FYI I posted this on your talk page because I couldn't find how to edit my own page, so please don't mind it.Luewia (talk) 14:06, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. Walk me through this edit. Kuru (talk) 00:55, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I was checking out the new S10, and wanted to check out who made this trend. That's when I saw that Meizu was the pioneer in the bezzel less phones. When I googled for it, I looked up to to find when and how this trend was made. That is how I found the wikipedia page for Meizu. When I dipped in, I saw that the website referring to the information I was looking for was dead. I googled searched for the information and found a blog post by one Sri Lanka's price comparison websites. I also found the exact comment, so I thought why not as well share what I found to wikipedia. I also thought that since the previous website that was referred to wikipedia was a price comparison website that was closed down, it didn't feel wrong.Luewia (talk) 03:35, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You happened across an old article, with a link that worked just fine, and searched for that material which happened to exist on a recently created and plagiarized blog post for a company you've been adding promotional material for? I'm sorry, that's not in any way plausible. Any chance you'll take a step back and start using the required disclosures? Kuru (talk) 13:14, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

About a link that was working just fine, It didn't work for me. When I searched through the site was dead long ago. I totally understand your point of view. I would think and act the same way you would. But reality is I don't get paid for anything I do here( Yes I wish someone did pay me). Anyway, which is why I leave the question to you if the suggested price comparison websites are worth it to make it to this page (E-commerce in Sri Lanka). If you think that I am promoting only one specific price comparison site, please do add the only other website that I added earlier. My sole focus here is to share facts and knowledge, therefore I hope you find some time to research if I am speaking the truth. Also if your issue is with this one site, I will exclude it and include the rest of the sites that are relavant that is only if you think that would help the community.Luewia (talk) 16:06, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As you've continued to promote a specific entity, I've disabled this account. I do not believe your claims that you do not have a COI with surf2ship. Kuru (talk) 20:49, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
