Black and white films

Hi Lugnuts, I've noticed you've been doing a lot of work filling the Black and White films category, however, it might also be helpful if you included this in the edit summary field (ie "Added Category:Black and White films"), so editors with these films on their watchlist can see what you added without having to check each page. - AKeen 21:38, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice, AKeen. I think I started to do that when I first began updating the pages. Will try to remember to include it each time!

???? Toby Tortoise Returns was in black-and-white?

I'm puzzled by this... surely all the later Silly Symphonies were in Technicolor? I'm not an expert on individual titles, but our article suggests that all of them from Flowers and Trees on were in color. Do you have a reference for Toby Tortoise Returns being in black-and-white? Dpbsmith (talk) 14:26, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

imdb says it was in Technicolor. Dpbsmith (talk) 17:31, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Lost films

Hi - I noticed that you added a "lost films" category to The Milky Way (1936 film). Although it says that the original negative and almost all prints were destroyed, the film is nevertheless now widely available as part of a boxed Harold Lloyd DVD set, so I'm removing the category. Esn 17:17, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Banned films

You have added a lot of films to this category recently. However some films so marked are not clear where and when they were banned. Each Dawn I Die for instance. -- Beardo 04:12, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the response. -- Beardo 13:16, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

I think the category is misleading. It implies that the films were banned everywhere. In reality they might have been banned in one tiny territory that most people wouldn't have heard of. -- SteveCrook 21:30, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Ghost towns

Excellent.:)A mcmurray 00:47, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

  • You should support my proposed project. Wikipedia:WikiProject/List of proposed projects A mcmurray 04:20, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Please refrain from listing arbirarily small cities in North Dakota. North Dakota does have ghost towns, but for the most part, places with articles are still inhabited. --13:36, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Films

Hi there; I came across your page quite by accident, seeing your record labels entries going in. (Good luck with "X".) Looking at your userboxes re best Sci-Fi films, and given that it is a matter of opinion, have you seen "Silent Running"? If not, get it, watch it, and then review your opinion. Happy wikying.--Anthony.bradbury 11:52, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

OK, you found some beginning with "X". Good for you!--Anthony.bradbury 11:54, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
It's an old film, starring Bruce Dern, and did not have the benefit of later developments in computer graphic realisations. But the conceptual creation contained is, in my personal opinion, truly impressive. You may not like it, but I hope you will.--Anthony.bradbury 12:02, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Guitarist lists

Thanks for working on that split. We are trying to work on all the lists in that category, to get them as good as List of Telecaster players. Have you checked out WikiProject Guitarists? --Aguerriero (talk) 18:43, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Good job!

I just want to thank you for taking the time to split the sampled song articles up by letter. I think the list is more presentable on wikipedia that way. Buzda 08:27, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

link to British

Hello, when you want to link to the article about something British, please do not link to British, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the one of the options found on that page such as United Kingdom or Great Britain by writing out [[United Kingdom|British]] or [[Great Britain|British]]. Regards, Jeff3000 03:42, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Science Friction

Sorry, what more has to be done to this article? How can what's written be Wikified further? perhaps you could give a few pointers. Stephenjh 09:49, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

List of interpolated songs?

I'm seriously considering making a list, similar to the "List of sampled songs", except with lyrics or instrumentals that are interpolated from other songs. Do you think it would be something worth putting together? Buzda 03:29, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

I created it: List of interpolated songs Obviously feel free to contribute and/or adjust the guidelines for the article. Buzda 07:11, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of categories

In the future, if you want a category speedy deleted, you can just tag it with a template specifying the criteria for speedy deletion (such as {{db-author}} for mistakes) instead of listing it on CfD. Mairi 22:37, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Full Moon Records (Australia)

A tag has been placed on Full Moon Records (Australia), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TerriersFan 23:31, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Your message to me re. record labels

Hi, thanks for your message to me. I apologize for my inappropriate page moves. Please move them back. I will be more careful regarding record label page naming in future. --stephenw32768<user page><talk> 17:55, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Record label subcats

I've been creating a lot of country specific stubs for record labels.

If anything "a lot of" is an understatement; why do you think I was too depressed to actually finish tagging them all? I absolutely disagree that this is any sort of improvement on the previous situation: stub types aren't supposed to serve the same purpose as (permanent) categorisation, they're supposed to enable sorting of stubs into reasonable-sized lumps: not so big they become unnavigable, not so small they wither on the wine in an obscure location few editors are ever likely to notice. Hence the stub guidelines, in particular the upper and lower size thresholds. Though note that the actual sorting effort isn't ultimately lost if these are upmerged (i.e., the category is deleted, and the template kept), and is actually useful if merged to intermediate-sized categories like Category:European record label stubs. Alai 15:42, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

I repeat: stub-sorting is not categorisation. However, if the level of 'discussion' you're going to engage in is "Moan, moan, moan", I see little point in continuing same. Alai 17:46, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm intending to revert your creation of the Homestead Records disambiguation page. Apart from the problem that there is no cited evidence of the 1920's label (viz. "Apparently..."), the 1980's label is clearly the most common search term per Google search, in addition there is no need for a disambiguation page for two items. They can simply be covered by disambiguation headers, or if the current text doesn't get expanded, the 1920's label text can be merged into the 1980's label article. Let me know if you want me to run this through WP:RM first, otherwise I'll go ahead. ~ trialsanderrors 21:02, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

  • No that's fine - go for it! Lugnuts 12:05, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Gary S Paxton Article

Lugnuts, I have reverted your last edit to the Gary S. Paxton article where you took out NewPax Records info. As always, edits like this should be taken to the talk pages before removed from an article. NewPax records article is in the process of being merged to the Gary S Paxton article. I just have not had a chance to do it yet. There is no point in having the NewPax record article when it can be clearly spelled out on Gary's page. Gary is a long time life friend of mine and I am sure that we can include all of this info without bombarding Wikipedia with articles that have been split. If you would like to discuss this issue I will be more than happy to. Before an edit is made, please take it to the talk page and lets discuss it. Thank you Junebug52 15:16, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

You're welcome! I agree with you that the pic was too big. I found out how to do it here, after some searching. More useful editing can be found at Help:Editing —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Thesteve (talkcontribs) 21:59, 29 December 2006 (UTC).

Lugnuts, I've reverted your last two edits because a category exists for the content you tried to add ("Category:Lists of record labels"). To keep this record label page style consistent with other similar pages, please use categories as appropriate. Please take further proposed edits of Raster-Noton to its talk page. Thanks. Alex 15:27, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Removal of External Links

I inserted a couple of external links in the record label list. You removed them and said they were spam. It is info. What is wrong with having external links on them? Neanderthalprimadonna 06:23, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. I removed the ex. links on the page List of record labels starting with D because none of the other links on that page has an external link to the label. Same for A through to Z too. You're more than welcome to create a full article for that label and to include an external link from that. Lugnuts 09:40, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Excuse me, but just because none of the other labels had external links attached to them doesn't mean that the ones I put in are "spam" or are prohibited by Wikipedia. These labels are too small to warrant Wikipedia articles, but that doesn't mean external links are wrong there. Neanderthalprimadonna 14:30, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Neanderthalprimadonna 12:27, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

      • I thought you understood that they were too obscure to warrant articles. I tried that first. It appears that you are taking this personally or something... the reference to Jesus, saying that I am moaning, and your laughter, like this is all some sort of joke. What's up with that? Note that I didn't try to undo your edits, but I am just discussing this like we are supposed to here. I invite you to peruse this and reconsider the comments you made to me: Wikipedia:Etiquette Neanderthalprimadonna 14:09, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
        • Yes, that's what I said. I didn't know that being too obscure to have an article also means that it was forbidden to externally link it. I see that you yourself have quite a few articles nominated for deletion, so how is it that you know more about what is appropriate and what isn't? I do know that your comments to me were inappropriate.Neanderthalprimadonna 14:26, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Removing the {{unreferenced}} template without adding a reference is not "cleaning up" the article. Please don't do this again; it counts as vandalism. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 12:04, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

The existence of the label, its identity in the U.K. the claim that it no longer trades — all need to be given sources. And yes, all articles do need references, that's Wikipedia policy (see Wikipedia:Verifiability). --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 12:38, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Schallplatten

I nominated Schallplatten, a redirect to Traum Schallplatten, for deletion (Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2007_February_2). Schallplatten means records in German, and is a common word in record label names. There's no other good target for that redirect. Rootless 20:44, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Category:Simpsons cast members

Please stop adding guest stars to the category. A cast member is somebody who makes regular appearances on a show. Larry King, Tony Bennett, Cloris Leachman and many of the other actors you added are not cast members. -- Scorpion 19:43, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

That doesn't mean that he is a Simpsons cast member! That is gross overcategorization. That would mean that all 400 some odd guest stars in the history of the show would have to become cast members. It doesn't seem that we will be able to come to an agreement, so lets take it to the Simpsons WikiProject and get some other opinions. -- Scorpion 19:52, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
I have started discussion here. Until then, please stop categorizing articles and remove all the tags you have placed. -- Scorpion 20:00, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
See my response on the page. -- Scorpion 20:13, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Maitch is right. The afd DOES say that guest stars are not included. Please stop adding pages to the category or I'll report you to an admin. -- Scorpion 20:39, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Wow, no need to be a dick. I'm just telling you what was said by an administrator. I am going to revert your edits and please do not add more to the category. -- Scorpion 20:44, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Having read your comment to me and your discussions with Scorpion I believe you need to read through Wikipedia:Civility. If you continue to talk to people in such a way you will find yourself having more problems with more users and will end up being blocked. violet/riga (t) 18:53, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Potters Bar derailment

Hi there, as you may be aware, following your comments with regards to the move of Grayrigg derailment, the same editor moved Potters Bar train crash to Potters Bar derailment. This was an article you cited as an example where the common name comes before what might be a more technically accurate name (as per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (events)).

I have proposed the page be moved back; admin assistance is required because the page Potters Bar train crash is now a redirect. My proposal can be discussed on the talk page. I would welcome your opinions. Adambro 19:14, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

I was just looking at the move discussion for Lost Highway and noticed Special:Contributions/SuperCoolAl had been messing around with redirects which you then reverted. I did a search for "lost highway" and it seems he also changed Lost highway. I would have reverted it to the film, but I'm hardly ever on here so I wouldn't be able to make sure he didn't revert it back. 172.214.189.28 21:29, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
