Argentine cinema

Hello your Lugness. I was wondering if you could create some classic Argentina film director templates for me for directors such as Mario Soffici (done), Luis César Amadori etc. You can find the most notable directors in Category:Films by Argentine directors. Its time the articles were connected together and coordinate it I think and also help me dig out the missing articles which were missed when drawing up the lists on the dark ages.....Many of the articles like Dieciséis años are isolated when they are directed by notable directors. Now if only I had these books].... Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:15, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

I'd be happy to create any missing articles too, meanwhile though I'll fill out some of the stubs. I'd actually forgotten how much fun it is editing film articles. Good thing is that any film posters or screenshots from the old era can be uploaded to the commons! Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:01, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Can you remember the name of the film editor who creates lots of film director templates and articles who we guided a while back? Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:24, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Ah that's right. I just noticed that both Michael Gothard and Jill Bennett (British actress) who appeared in For Your Eyes Only both committed suicide between 1990-1992. Funnily enough both did seem the gloomy sort in that film. Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:40, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Silvertone Records (1930) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. The article Silvertone Records (1930) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No claim to significance fails WP:CORP

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Codf1977 (talk) 07:18, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

I have nominated Silvertone Records (1930), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Silvertone Records (1930). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Codf1977 (talk) 09:04, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Me thinks somebody is compelled to delete this.... Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:41, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Re: Assessing films

I did not know before. Thank you! Do you know who decided this and why? –pjoef (talkcontribs) 07:29, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your prompt reply. I will ask there. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 07:48, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for the barnstar, Lugnuts! It's my pleasure adding these things, and I'll continue to do so when I've got extra time & want a break from my usual editing areas. Silent film / classic comedy was actually the first area I worked in, before I got tempted over to Japanese erotic cinema-- first to counter the heavy deletion in that area, and then just to expand our coverage of the subject because it's so damned interesting... If that subject ever gets officially banned (or I get tired of it), Silent film & comedy could likely be my next refuge... Cheers! Dekkappai (talk) 13:58, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank you again for the heads up and for recognizing others. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 16:46, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Good to see you reward the pained "Japanese porno dude". He thoroughly deserves it. Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:43, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

It's tough work, Blofeld, but somebody's got to do it! ;-) Dekkappai (talk) 20:18, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

As you have changed to "keep", might you wish to strikethrough your "delete"? Might then be closable per snow, and not confuse. Thanks, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:48, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion noted. Lugnuts (talk) 06:51, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

I was trying to give it some order, the only way it seems is to rename the actual article to the original german release title. As it is some are in German and some in English, most of the English titles are just translations as it was never officially released like that. Tstrobaugh (talk) 14:11, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Is there some problem? You seem to be editing but haven't yet fixed these edits. Let me know.Tstrobaugh (talk) 15:16, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
There's nothing to fix. Lugnuts (talk) 17:30, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
I don't understand. On your edit summary you said: " links shouldn't go outside English wikipedia", I provided a link (above) to wikipedia policy that states that you should link to other language wiki's when they have an article that the English wikpedia doesn't. What is the basis of your claim that "There's nothing to fix"? Thanks.Tstrobaugh (talk) 18:21, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
So basically your argument is that you know better than wikipedia policy and you aren't going to observe it? Just want to get on record that that is your position. Correct me if I'm wrong.Tstrobaugh (talk) 18:32, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Undocumented edit

I see you don't have rollback permissions so I'm confused as to how you did an undocumented edit. You edited here and even though it says you only edited the "infobox" section, my previous edit was deleted. How do you explain this?Tstrobaugh (talk) 20:35, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

What missing content are you referring to? The Erich Ponto link is still in the article, I don't see any discrepancies. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 21:06, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
I don't see it either. Sometimes intermediate edits can be lost if one (or both) of the two parties edit-conflict with each other and one repairs the edit conflict by just pasting in their edit from the box for "your revision", but unless a third edit is missing that doesn't seem to be the case here. Protonk (talk) 21:43, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
My bad, thanks for taking a look. I was looking at the "cast" section, I see it now in the infobox, I thought I had added the foreign language wiki link to the "cast" section.Tstrobaugh (talk) 23:53, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Ivy Bean

The eyes are being rolled...... An encyclopedia entry about an old woman who used the Internet. LOL. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:46, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

The laughable thing is that one of the !keepers thinks she is going to be notable in 100 years time and that this news story of the moment is going to continue. As far as I can see an old woman who used the Internet fpr the last two years of her life died. That's it!! So that means wikipedia automatically has a biography about the 102 years of her life in which she didn't use the Internet and lived a life as mundane and common as anybody with nothing notable to discuss for 102 years. At best this should make a small paragraph in the Twitter/Facebook article for being on record as the oldest user. What IO can't believe it how some people completely bend the guidelines to keep something they like. This will be forgotten by most in a few weeks time. Oh but this lady was kissed by Peter Andre, so she must be notable... The difference between newspaper fodder of the week and an encyclopedia diminishees, somewhat worryingly.. Redlinked record labels, and epic movies (remix)

I found 2 you dont have on your list: Embryo Records, a vanity label created by/for Herbie Mann in the late 60's or early 70's. There is also an Embryo Records for disco music from the 2000's. the embryo label from herbie mann is a personal favorite of mine, but im not sure it counts as notable. i know your list hasnt been updated for a while, so i guess im just exploring and enjoying your user pages. you "voted" to keep the epic movie lists, and while i disagree, i checked here to see your editing background. You obviously know what you are doing, and i want to thank you for your extensive work here. If you think the articles can be salvaged, and that the term "epic" is eventually capable of being more clearly defined, i would seriously consider changing my vote. the issues reflected in this afd are big ones, and i want to understand them better. I am really not a deletionist, more of an eventualist, but i have trouble with terms that sound vague. maybe the Variety critic i mention has enough stature to allow us to quote him. he should have an article anyway, dont you think?Mercurywoodrose (talk) 06:17, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! I stumbled across the Most Wanted section of the BFI website at the weekend while researching a particular film, and it kept me enthralled for hours so I thought it was worth a share to point others in its direction. There's loads of absolutely fascinating stuff on there for film buffs, fantastic stills and promotional material etc. And if you want your laugh of the day, have a look at the screenshot for The First Men in the Moon - it's a hoot....seems like folk in 1919 imagined the moon to be peopled by golliwogs, fantastically un-PC! G.W. Pabst template

Hi,
Tstrobaugh has been fooling around with this, but you appear to have concurred.
He's got films with well-known titles in English now changed to German. I don't give a shit; I read German. But what about everybody else?
He has given a famous film Westfront a Swedish title because the poster which illustrates the article happens to be in Swedish. If the poster had been in Mongolian, ...
In other words, he knoweth not what he doeth.

Hi, I just wanted to query the use of these templates with you. No doubt they made good sense when you created them as they provided handy links to a country's "Cinema of" article, but I understand that we no longer do this per WP:EGG and now all they do is add a bit of plain text (which would be easier to just type out) and a category (which is probably better added manually). Is there any need to retain them? PC78 (talk) 20:47, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Imagination (film)

An editor has nominated Imagination (film), an article which you have created or worked on, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Imagination (film) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 02:16, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi L, I just recently discovered this article which you had started. Take a look at the changes that were recently made. FWiW Bzuk (talk) 18:30, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

The article Bill Sharkey's Last Game has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable per WP:NOTFILM. No sources claiming otherwise.

Uhh...

As you can see, the above articles has been nominated for deletion, essentially because there are absolutely no reliable sources indicating their notability. The major problem here is that you have created an entire filmography of the main actor in these films, and as a result, there are hundreds of articles which possibly follow suit (I'm sure some are notable, obviously). Now, I sort of have a life off of Wikipedia, so I would like to have your help finding exactly which films fail WP:NOTFILM, if possible, seeing that you seem to be a bit of an enthusiast for this subject. Mind doing so? EricLeb01 (Page | Talk) 01:50, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Nomination of Bill Sharkey's Last Game for deletion

A discussion has begun about whether the article Bill Sharkey's Last Game, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bill Sharkey's Last Game until a concensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. EricLeb01 (Page | Talk) 03:27, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Edit warring

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If the edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. BOVINEBOY2008 19:25, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Request reason:

I was essentially restoring information that had been removed with false edit summary statements and with no justification. Please read my response again. Thanks.

Decline reason:

I reviewed some of your reverts, and none of them seem to be reverts of obvious vandalism or WP:BLP violations, so the block is an appropriate response. Remember that edit-warring is always against the rules, even when you are sure you are right- next time you find yourself in a similar situation, stop and discuss rather than repeatedly reverting, to avoid causing disruption (and to avoid a block). Hi, I saw that you added a comment that Камионът was entered in a film festival. I was only listing those that actually won awards. There is a much longer list of films that were entered and did not win - this seems less noteworthy to me, but if you want to add such notes, it's OK with me. I don't know if there is any official policy on the subject. What do you think? --cbdorsett (talk) 07:05, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Infobox actor

Yobot could also immediately replace Infobox actor with Infobox person. The problem is the Category:Actors needing an image which is a tracking category automatically added with Infobox actor when no image is in the article. That's the reason we have to slow down the changes in the beginning. We have to find a solution what to do with this category, if we really need it. -- Magioladitis (talk) 07:22, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

FYI

Check out User:Erik/Draft, which documents Pricer1980 and related IP addresses' contributions. The category-based related changes help detect articles that were usually targeted. There's also a breakdown of the specifically targeted articles, though I need to identify which articles are the most recurring among IPs. Might help you sense when a sockpuppet pops up again. In addition, do you have any thoughts about Ben-Bopper (talk · contribs)? I'm trying to jump the gun and assume guilt, but it's hard to tell what company-related edits are actually good or not. For example, there's a lot of Warner Bros. Family Entertainment links, but IMDb is unhelpful in listing related productions. Erik (talk | contribs) 18:40, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

"Cinema of" templates

Hello! A discussion about the use of {{Cinema of XXXX}} (like {{Cinema of France}}) in individual film articles has opened here. Your input would be greatly appreciated! BOVINEBOY2008 08:23, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Excellent. Can't believe those films are still missing. I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about with the cinema templates. They're pretty harmless in my view and ease navigation. They only look an eye sore if there are well over 2 of them on top of each other. There should be an option for people who get anal about them to "hide all navigation templates" in your preferences. If you think this is a good idea would you support me in a proposal? I understand that some people hate them which is fair enough but there are others who find them useful so the option to hide them should be there I think. Dr. Blofeld 11:01, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Hey Lugnuts! I haven't heard from you in a while. I posed a question at the discussion and was wondering if you could respond? BOVINEBOY2008 15:01, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Cathay Pacific Flight 256

Hello, as you supported keeping the Cathay Pacific Flight 256 article by removing the proposed deletion request you are welcome to give your view at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cathay Pacific Flight 256. MilborneOne (talk) 09:33, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

I bet you wouldn't of bothered with this if it was heading for a snow keep. Lugnuts (talk) 10:00, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Per my edit summary, current editing of the above-captioned article cannot reasonably be described as being by "many editors . . . on the same day." If you think the categories included by inclusion of the template are applicable to the article, you can add them directly. But there's no reason to contradict the plain language (let alone the soft guideline) of the template instructions. Bongomatic 06:58, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

That's super. Lugnuts (talk) 07:02, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Conviasa Flight 2350

Lugnuts, it's probably better for now to leave the notability tag there. The best way to demonstrate notability is to keep improving the article. Mjroots (talk) 14:34, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Country parameter in Infobox film

Regarding what was recently discussed at Template talk:Infobox film, I've been doing some more work on the code that would allow the infobox to automatically format the country field and add the relevant category. It's more or less done, though there are a few exceptions and special cases in the general categorisation scheme that need some further consideration. I keep a copy of the infobox at User:PC78/Infobox film where this feature is now implemented, so feel free to try it out; the code that handles the formatting is at User:PC78/Infobox film/country. If you're still interested in this, we can discuss it further either here or at the template talk page. Regards. PC78 (talk) 01:20, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

OK, regarding certain film categories:

Perhaps some of the above just requires cleanup. As for multiple countries, like the |language= parameter the infobox would only be able to handle a single country. To handle multiple countries would require multiple parameters, i.e. |country1=, |country2=, etc. Personally I don't think that would be a bad thing, but others may disagree. Another option would be to create a {{film country}} template which could format as many countries as you like. PC78 (talk) 00:10, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

CCI

Thank you for your help with the ongoing contributor copyright investigation! I notice, though, that while you are removing the template, you are not noting your actions at the CCI subpages as per the directions for removal on the template. Please be sure to complete the process for those articles you've already cleared. If you aren't sure how, the procedure is at Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/Darius Dhlomo/How to help. Thanks! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:32, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

I realize it's a pain that they aren't A-Z (if I could do it, I'd make them coincide) but you can find which page contains an article by following "what links here", whereupon it's not that difficult to find them. It's really important to log your findings. If you don't do it, somebody has to double check your work, because the master list (which is organized by size of contribution) won't show that the articles have been checked. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:41, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

.And God Created Them

Hello Lugnuts, you created the article "And God Created Them" based on the movie "Y Dios los Cria". User:Quazgaa has made the correct observation here that the title translation is incorrect since the term "Cria" in Spanish means "Raised", while the term "Creo" means "created". I believe, that as the creator of the article, it would be only fair to give ypu the option of re-naming it to one of the following suggested titles: God Nurtures them or They are Raised by God.
