Films with Bela Lugosi

of course you are right. That being said . . . . it is Bela Lugosi! He is not really a human (I think), he is . . . Bela Lugosi (the undead). However, you are right of course. Happy New Years l santry (talk) 18:37, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Notable?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:36, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

The thing is that Sampaguita Pictures is like the Filipino equivalent to Universal or something. It was a major film company which I believe dominated the industry for decades. I have a strong feeling she is notable but I can't find anything about her, only a comtemporary (and rather pretty) Spanish actress.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:42, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Incredulous that was missing... I've created two maps for it. In fact I'll invite Rosiestep and Nvvchar to help me develop it into a decent start class article. Currently cutting down Clint Eastwood though, hopefully to pass GA review its currently at...♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:04, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

BTW WTF is goin on with the article history of Malibu Lake? LOL it was tagged as advert and one editor even accused it of being a COI!!! Maybe it is the Lake who actually started the article LOL. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:12, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey, this is quite urgent. I tried to add myself to the Soviet cinema task force, but somehow managed to bungle up the participants' list. I don't know to revert this. My apologies. Could you fix that, please? Bahavd Gita (talk) 10:31, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, I posted a log on the discussion page. By the way, I saw your query for an image in my article. As far as I understand from Google Translate, the Russian Wikipedia posted DVD covers. I managed to find two vintage posters from the 1970s and uploaded them with some help, including full rationale etc. etc. Thanks again. Bahavd Gita (talk) 11:35, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

I managed to restore the participants' list to normal, it's OK. Sorry for the mess I made earlier. Bahavd Gita (talk) 12:45, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for being an incessant ****. Who checks an article against B-class criteria? I guess I could do it myself, but it is somewhat wiki-unethical. Bahavd Gita (talk) 18:00, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

If you don't mind me asking, how do I provide proof in the edit summaries? Bahavd Gita (talk) 18:27, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Oh, I thought you meant the article's edit summaries. Thanks! Bahavd Gita (talk) 18:33, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

My mistake. Usually when you see the words "Hahaha" inserted into an article, you assume vandalism. Won't happen again. Mr. Anon515 23:39, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Question

Sorry, another question about creating article stubs. For sources, do you just look at the film festival website, or do you look for other sources/use secondary sources as well? BOVINEBOY2008 12:14, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your feedback. I love getting articles which have not been done in English, running them through Google translate and tidying them up in order to make new articles and its great to see your feedback. As with any article, made by me or not, please improve on them if you can :) Cexycy (talk) 18:35, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Frič

Great work on creating the Martin Frič template! I would have done it myself if only his filmography was about ten times smaller... Really appreciate the effort. Smetanahue (talk) 12:52, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

boot / trunk

Thanks for editing on the Dogtooth article. I didn't think I would get in a dispute on this issue. Since I know that the boot is the trunk, maybe I should assume that everyone does, but in this case it's so critical to the understanding of the action that I felt it was worth being sure the readers were on board. What is really the best way to handle it, I don't know. Earlier today I tried an edit that made no mention of boot or trunk but it was too strained, so I abandoned it. I appreciate your input. --Ring Cinema (talk) 19:17, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks

Yeah last night I was looking over Oscar nominees who might be still alive to add that cat. The critiera I went by was: There most recent nomination was before the 1990s and they have not done anything since the 90s. I also of course went through any oldies that might be there (as long as they were not nominated the first 10 years) It was a hard thing to do. So thanks for cleaning them up for me

Kamkek (talk) 15:37, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Dogtooth

First of all, I think it is a "must" to mention Dimitris Danikas' review, since Danikas is one of the most prominent and well-known Greek critics. I'd translate the title of his review as "Greek pioneership". He gives a rating of 8/10 to the film ("with enthusiasm") and caracterizes it as "black, surreal, nightmarish". He believes that Dogtooth of 2009 is as important for Greek cinema as Theodoros Angelopoulos' Reconstruction of 1970. It's tiring to translate the whole review, but among other things Danikas says that"

"Lanthimos composes and goes from one level to another as a wildcat-creator. Constantly and continuously maintaining the same rigorous style. Hence the aphasia; hence the uniformity; hence the submission and the scheduled mass culture; hence also the serial killer; hence, however, the disobedience, the anarchy. I said it at the beginning: the "Dogtooth" with the surrealism of Buñuel. With the scalpel of Haneke; with the underground horror of a thriller without splater. Perfect."

In another, more recent article of his ("The Dogtooth nominated for Oscar"), Danikas caracterizes Dogtooth's nomination as "the greatest Greek triumph of the last years".

There are also many other articles. In Kathimerini, a columnist named Dimitris Bouras ("Investment or Extroversion") refers to "the beneficial effects that the prestigious award could have" and believes that the nomination reveals 3 interesting facts: a) In Greece we need to be extrovert (and not only in cinema), 2)Exportable product is whatever has an identity, 3) "Dogtooth"'s nomination is like an investment – manna from heaven of Hollywood for the developing Greek cinema.

In another article ("Dogtooth bites Uncle Oscar", another Greek critic, Yannis Zoumboulakis, refers to the "huge success, since the last Greek nomination was in 1978", and to the statement of the Greek Prime Minister, George Papandreou jr., who said during the Cabinet of January 25:

"The news that the film "Dogtooth" of Yorgos Lanthimos is nominated for best foreign language film goes far beyond the world of cinema, arts and culture. It concerns the whole country, its people, the new generation of artists who follow the motto "Yes, we can do it" during difficult times. I won't say that the news shows that miracles happen, because the success of George Lanthimos is based on hard work, talent and his endless potential. Features that characterize the creative forces which lead Greece to a new era; forces which deserve our support and they will have it. Bravo Yorgos."--Yannismarou (talk) 19:18, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

read the guidelines please

Please, before you go further down this path, read the style guidelines. WP:ENGVAR, I believe, is the article. The article is full of American English, so, absent a strong connection to England, it should be consistently American English. Thank you for following the guidelines. --Ring Cinema (talk) 23:24, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Reviews

Firstly, reviews can't be bare URLs; they need to be formatted as citations. It's been discussed on the WikiProject Albums talk page that critical reception belongs in the prose, not the infobox; it's just been taking a long time for the infobox field to become fully deactivated. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:05, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

It's all in various discussions in the talk page archive. The reviews aren't helpful unless they are cited in the prose, so if you want to keep them in the article, you should do so. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:49, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Re Berlin

Ok, good. That seems to be the best way, I just wasn't sure. Ridiculously weak Berlin line-up this year btw. Cannes predictions on the other hand look ridiculously strong... So I guess it'll be extra important to work on this year's Cannes articles, to give the films that normally would have been high-profiled a better chance to steal some publicity from Malick and von Trier. Can you help add the imdb and cinenacional links to the actors in Una Jaula no tiene secretos from Moret onwards and their birthdates? The article is up for AFD..♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:16, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

I saw a need for this article and so I wrote it. But the article could benefit from expansion and further sourcing. As you are listed at the WikiProject Film/Canadian cinema task force, perhaps you might care to help out? Expanding on the school's programs? Listing the awards its presented (and recipients)? How other media in Canada recognize the intitute and its efforts? Thanks, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 07:27, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Judge Priest

Instead of deleting all my work on Judge Priest do you think you could improve the article by sourcing it. The entire plot is sourced straight from the movie. Most of the analysis comes from the three books I listed. In addition, some of the material is from a highly regarded professor who has focused on African-American film. Thanks a lot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lifestyle.br740 (talkcontribs) 16:36, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Israeli fencers

Just to let you know that your articles about Dan Alon and Yehuda Weisenstein (who is listed in both "The Blood of Israel" and "One Day In September" as Moshe Yehuda Weinstain) both contain a MAJOR factual error - namely that neither of them were taken hostage by the Munich terrorists. Both of them were in apartment 2, along with shooters Henry Hershkowitz and Zelig Stroch and walker Shaul Ladany, in between the two apartments where athletes and coaches were taken hostage. Apparently, wrestling coach Moshe Weinberg managed to convince the terrorists that apartment 2 contained no Israelis. Ladany escaped when he heard gunshots, the other four left during the crisis and escaped unharmed. Check your facts next time - it's in the very article you cited as a source.

Crohn's list...

You indicated the rationale as "Disabilities is an umbrella term, covering impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions". When there are people with Crohn's who are in all walks of life and types of employment, where is there an impairment, activity limitation, or participation restriction? None of that is evidenced by the list; in fact, it shows just the opposite. MSJapan (talk) 01:41, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Malayalam films

HI, can you link from Malayalam films of 1971 to present (except late 1990s year) to the film lists by year templates e.g Template:1971 films? At the same time I believe we have Bengali lists by year for a lot of years too from 1980s-present... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:07, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

I going to put the lot of your Film .... country templates up for deletion. They were fine until somebody made the shitty decision to block off the cinema link and leave it as blank text. What is the point in Template:FilmIndia for instance when you can just write India in the damn infobox... Either restore the cinema links or they be deleted me thinks.. Your views on this? ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:47, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

WP:Films has a big history of people making unnecessary proposals and making peculiar changes. I'd support keeping the film templates if the cinema pages were relinked again, that was the whole purpose of them.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:30, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

I have noticed from time to time that I have modified a page dealing with an obscure oldie,

Am I simply triggering an appearance on your watchlist, reminding you of something you haven't looked at lately, or is there some more exotic process going on?

Mr. Miller

Yeah the same editor nominated Philip Voss for deletion. Ridiculous really. Miller even has biographical entries in reputable British film books. I recognize him from the Avengers and the Saint. I'm glad it was started I've long been meaning to start all of the List of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) cast members, I want to draw one of of The Avengers some time too.. Those recurring actors appeared in stacks of things, even if they were never major actors. I definitely think you should be able to watch any episode of a 60s series, find the name of the actor in the credits and find a decent article about them on wikipedia. Its sort of a cult thing spotting the same faces in the different ITC productions. If you could add a full, proper tabled filmography after I'm done this woould be great and I'll nom it has a joint article between us at DYK.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:35, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Guys, I apologise. Those deletion noms were done in good faith. I don't have access to any of those books you have, and for some reason I just couldn't find anything on the net at the time. I promise I'm not out there to delete things, only to try and make a better encyclopaedia. Luckily we have you guys and this time we have indeed improved the encyclopaedia by expanding the articles and adding references. Sorry again. Jay Σεβαστόςdiscuss 13:48, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
