The nominator was correct that the original version was sourced only to SPS... but it was not all that difficult to find it covered in reliable sources, and my own opinion is that we rarely delete films if issues are addressable. I invite you to review improvements to the article Talk to Me (2005 film). Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 20:49, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. My google-foo was running in overdrive. :) Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 07:44, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

2012 blackout AfD

While I appreciate your support of the article, I ask that you consider re-phrasing your comment at the AfD to something less inflammatory. I share your view that the reasons for keeping at this point in time should speak for themselves, but those arguing for deletion are doing so in good faith, and most have tried to give good reasons. —WFC— 08:14, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi

I just noticed you moved the page to include "film" in brackets. Is that standard procedure? I thought that was only done to differentiate between (2010 book) and (2010 film), for example. Chaosdruid (talk) 02:43, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

Cheers for that :¬) I suppose it is more common to have a film made only a few years after the book, so going by the type first makes sense. Though I was surprised that they remade The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo after only 2 years lol. It was also surprising to see that they stuck more to the books ending in the 2011 than the 2009 version though - I must admit I watched the whole series of films in one session, thoroughly riveting. I did wonder if it was because Americans don't like watching films with subtitles ... anyway, thanks once again. Chaosdruid (talk) 09:46, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

The article Rebelle has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Film fails WP:GNG and WP:NF. Not only hasn't been commercially released, it apparently hasn't even been seen yet (may not even be finished; per IMDb), as first appearance is scheduled to be a film festival. This per one single source, a press release (from the festival); no other evidence of notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 15:51, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Nomination of Rebelle for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Rebelle is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rebelle until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 19:01, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Reginald Berkeley

See Reginald Berkeley (which you have contributed to) for my proposal to merge the two articles as I am certain that Reginald Berkeley (politician) and Reginald Berkeley (writer) are the same person, as confirmed by the obituary of Captain Reginald Berleley in The Times of 1 April 1935 page 9, which refers to his plays and also to his career as an MP (presumably not an April Fools Day hoax!). Could you reply on the article talk page please, as I have asked several people for comments. Hugo999 (talk) 12:33, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

When creating a new article for a documentary film can you please let me know if you prefer to have film in parentheses?, or the year and the film? Lugnuts, can you add a see also Record labels established in yyyy to this template {{Rlabeldisestcat}}? If it helps something similar to {{discat}}. If it's not too much the same for the template {{Rlabelestcat}}? I could try, but it's probably faster for you seeing as you created it. Thanks Argolin (talk) 23:48, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi Lugnuts. We apparently had pretty much the same idea. :) Not sure what to do as it's a bit confusing now, but I guess they should probably be separate articles. For the moment I'll add a link from each to the other, but if you want to change it please feel free to do that. Cheers Paul MacDermott (talk) 12:37, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

I agree. Needs to be moved to James Whittaker (religious leader) or something like that. Then James Whittaker can redirect to James Whittaker (disambiguation). Paul MacDermott (talk) 14:11, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
ok, done them now. All James Whitakers are at James Whitaker. James Whittaker has been moved to James Whittaker (religious leader) and James Whittaker redirects to James Whittaker (disambiguation). Cheers Paul MacDermott (talk) 20:25, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi,

The comment "please come back when you are relevant" reads like a personal attack. I can't be bothered to find the correct template to add here, but the message is the same. I can tell you're passionate about film, and maybe my suggestion to AfD Caesar Must Die was shocking to you, but I assure you that all my edits, contributions and activity are in good faith and in the best interest of Wikipedia.

Please review the article Late Spring

I would be honored to invite you, as an obviously very knowledgeable person on film and a participant in the Japanese Cinema Task Force, to review the article I have edited on Yasujiro Ozu's Late Spring. I have worked on the article for about eight months, beginning on June 12, 2011. Although it is quite long, I believe that the importance of Late Spring both within the career of Yasujiro Ozu and within the overall history of Japanese cinema more than justifies the length. Indeed, there is quite a bit of detail that I felt I needed to omit.

I wanted the reader with little or no knowledge of Japanese film history to understand: a) the significance of the Shomin-geki genre and the importance of Ozu to that genre; b) the pressures on filmmakers during the American Occupation and its censorship, and how Ozu dealt with those pressures; c) the central importance of both the screenwriter Kôgo Noda and the actress Setsuko Hara on this film and on the director's late period films in general; d) the importance of the theme of tradition versus modernity in this film; e) the central importance to the movie of the Noh play scene (which actually gave the film its title, as is explained there); f) Ozu's complex and subtle approach to characterization, and the relationship of the characters to traditional Japanese archetypes (e.g., the patriarchal father); g) the uniqueness of Ozu's visual style; and h) the ambiguous nature of what he achieved, which is open to many (and contradictory) interpretations.

What I'd like to request that you do is: a) suggest possible improvements to the article and b) after corrections, possibly support my attempt to promote the article as a Featured Article, which I intend to do quite soon.

I hope that I can get the article on Late Spring to the point where it sets some kind of standard for a Wikipedia cinema article.

Regards,

Dylanexpert (talk) 13:50, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your prompt response and edits! I look forward to your review. I have posted the note on the WikiProject Film talk page as you suggested. Dylanexpert (talk) 18:32, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

I included year category. The film +(country name) template creates country category (so explicit category is not necessary). I'll try to add also language in Languange field of Infobox Film template (it creates language category). Thanks. --M.casanova (talk) 08:54, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

external links on A Royal Affair

Hi Lugnuts,

I'm Gary Levinson, the person who keeps posting an external link at the bottom of the A Royal Affair page.

I was just messaging with Dragonfly6-7 and he (or she) explained to me why Wikipedia doesnt want people linking to their own sites (especially when they have adsense ads). And now I understand why my link was being deleted..

Dragonfly6-7 suggested I write to you: I think my review is worth posting because I was at the press conference for this film in Berlin.

My review has unique information and a quote from this press conference.

Maybe this would be interesting for Wikipedia readers?

Thanks for your help with this.

Best regards,

defaultsort

I didn't know this for a long time, so just in case you didn't know....

For defaultsort and listas, there must be a comma when warranted. For example, you had "defaultsort=Hoo Cha-Pen". The Wikimedia software will treat this sort of like a one word name. It will come in a sort list before any other people named Hoo. The same goes for "defaultsort=Hoo , Cha-Pen" and "defaultsort= Hoo, Cha-Pen"... they get treated differently. There is a special category to fix the "defaultsort= Hoo Cha-Pen" problems, but not the others. Bgwhite (talk) 08:16, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
