Advanced Design System

Hi,

I agree with your point. But at the same time, I believe that saying "and a large percentage[citation needed] of new graduates are experienced in its use[citation needed]. As a result, the system has found wide acceptance[citation needed] in industry." without any reliable source seems more like a veiled advertisement of the product than an usful information.

Therefore, following the same neutrality principle, I believe this part should be at least removed.

Best regards, 177.35.12.208 (talk) 21:50, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

Hey there, I agree! Those unsourced statements, while perhaps not expressing a particular POV, should probably just removed entirely. Deletion (or, even more preferable, finding sources), not adding bias, was the more correct action! -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 23:32, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

So I can refer this to Wikispecies, which region was this take in? North Eastern US? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 10:26, 22 September 2018 (UTC)

Yup, this was taken on Long Island, New York -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 22:47, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
Okay I asked at the reference desk, and updated the information box accordingly. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 23:40, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

Un-explained Edits

Hi,

The edits where explained. Could you please review the edit history for this item ?

You may notice that this was three edits that where explained.

Do you feel that Congo (Belgian colony) or Peru (Spanish colony) where British Colonies ? Could you provide some support for this, maybe a reference to support this claim ? (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Genocide_of_indigenous_peoples&oldid=1066301928)

Do you feel that the paragraph removed detailing the unrelated awards an referenced book received where relevant to this article ? It seems obvious that the paragraph was copied from the book's page. The Paragraph in question is superfluous if the following sentence was referenced correctly. (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Genocide_of_indigenous_peoples&oldid=1066305296)

Do you disagree that the paragraph removed, was incorrect ? Could you support one of it's claims ? Maybe that no other countries colonized America for instance, maybe a quick reference ? (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Genocide_of_indigenous_peoples&oldid=1066320842) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.28.170.191 (talk) 21:57, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello! You need to take all of this healthy and passionate discussion to article's talk page and explain your edits and collaborate with the other contributors. The specific edit I reverted was due to the fact you removed a large portion of cited material without an explanation. -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 22:03, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

Removal of semi-protection of Original North American area codes

I'm requesting removal of the semi-protection of Original North American area codes.

Sorry, I couldn't figure out who I should be sending this request to.

User:kbrose repeatedly violates WP:OR and/or WP:SYNTH, then asserts special privileges on the basis that he "wrote the entire article".

In effect, he is claiming that he shouldn't be expected to comply with the normal rules, stating

My edits to the article are not bold and not controversial based on the ample references. I cannot vandalize it, because I wrote the entire article, and it is factual and well sourced. That is not ownership. I am open to improvements by others when relevant references support changes. I suggest you show some proof for your lies and accusations. They are just smoke and mirrors. If you think your senseless deletions without reason and explanation are an improvement then explain it. I will continue to defend the article as written against all misinformation and vandalism, and I will likely expand it further with new source material.

This is quite self-righteous. He has made up his mind and is not listening to anybody else. It is no wonder that his content is getting deleted. Accordingly, I request that the semi-protection be removed. Fabrickator (talk) 22:10, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

A decrease in protection can be made here and information on how to make an edit to protected page can be found at WP:EDITREQ. However, the page is only semi-protected, so your account should be able to make edits. All that being said, I would highly advise you to proceed with caution and not engage in your own WP:EDITWAR or violate the three-revert rule either. -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 22:27, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

October 2023 NPP Backlog Drive sign up

Hello! I noticed that you are signed up for the October 2023 NPP Backlog Drive. However, you're going to be unable to participate if you do not have the New Page Reviewer permission. If you are still interested in participating in the backlog drive, then I encourage you to request the permission at WP:PERM/NPR. I have, for the moment, removed you from the participants list as you not able to participate at this point in time. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:22, 2 October 2023 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hi Macaddct1984. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page, including checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. Hello Macaddct1984:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 2600 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:24, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

yes, this was my mistake. Sorry for that. I need a help. I want to make a page exactly same like this with my information and biography : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariah_Carey So, can you give me instruction how can i will do that ? Chyna497 (talk) 17:41, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

I would first recommend looking at what you should and should not have on your User Page; Wikipedia is not a blog, a resume, or personal advert. Feel free to experiment on your own user page or your sandbox. Wikipedia has a lot of great guides helping users edit. -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 18:03, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

StopAntisemitism section

I would like to discuss the content you shared as it is factually incorrect on multiple instances. How can we engage in a meaningful conversation? TruthPrevailsFinally (talk) 14:28, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

This an appropriate place. The content has multiple citations and Vertex Pharmaceuticals responded on their official twitter account: [1]
I kept your removal from the Vertex article, because I don't think it's particularly noteworthy of the company itself. Keep in mind Wikipedia has rules regarding conflicts of interest, if one exists for you and Vertex. -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 14:43, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank you.
Yes, the Vertex post says that he was employed through a third party provider, hence Vertex could not have fired him. Moreover, his services to Vertex ended at the beginning of November before the post was published, which is why Vertex rightly says that he did not work for them any longer at the time. If helpful, I can share the good bye email.
He also was not a high ranking associate, in Vertex‘s hierarchy he was a regular professional.
Finally, the picture was never published on social media prior to the X post. The picture was taken in 2015 at the occasion of a wedding party in Las Vegas, when the individual was involved in an inappropriate dare in which he participated and immediately regretted. This photo does not represent his views or values.
This photo is now being used 8 years later as part of a defamation campaign instigated as revenge of the groom / ex-husband to the wife‘s close friends.
Let me know if I can provide additional information to help substantiate. TruthPrevailsFinally (talk) 14:58, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
The information in the article is proven by multiple sources, at least 3 reputable Swiss newspapers (Blick, Lematin, 20minuten), and there are many more (Swiss and international ones). Posting on social media and firing is mentioned in the articles.
Things stated by user TruthPrevailsFinally (age of the photo, wedding party etc) is mentioned nowhere else.
Wikipedia does not deal with original information such as emails, but with sources and citations, such as the ones mentioned in the article.
User TruthPrevailsFinally seems to be personally involved in this and has a conflict of interest, as the user has stated himself/herself ("I can share the good bye email"). MarcoMiller2 (talk) 15:03, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
Yes, it is the same misinterpretation and repeated without a statement of Vertex other than the X post or a statement of the affected individual. The Swiss boulevard has not used names in compliance with applicable data privacy laws and I request that the name gets deleted from wiki as well.
yes, in full disclosure, I am associated, but do not believe that there is a conflict of interest as I genuinely only care about the truth. TruthPrevailsFinally (talk) 15:37, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
"COI editing is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest MarcoMiller2 (talk) 15:48, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
This is at least a more appropriate way to go about it, as there is a guide to COI request edits; although the article talk page would be most appropriate, there was a discussion started here. -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 15:52, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
I've corrected the "high ranking" part, as that appears to be his wife's position at her company. Everything else is as-reported by news sources, which is what Wikipedia relies on. The content is reporting on SA's contribution to bringing the controversy to media attention - it's not about Waygood's beliefs, when the inciting incident happened, or the circumstances that lead to it. -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 15:31, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
Ok, I get that. Thanks for correcting that. The photo was not posted on social media before the X post though. Can we remove the reference to „on social media“? TruthPrevailsFinally (talk) 15:41, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
The posting on social media is proven by sources, see here:
https://www.blick.ch/schweiz/geschmacklos-aktion-hat-folgen-zuger-manager-posiert-mit-hakenkreuz-binde-job-weg-id19153294.html
Quote (German):
"In den sozialen Medien posierte Ronald W. mit einer Hakenkreuz-Binde am Arm."
Translation:
"R. W. posed on social media with a swastika armband on his arm." MarcoMiller2 (talk) 15:44, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
I took it to mean StopAntisemitism post and the company's response happened on the same day, but I've removed "same day" as I can understand the confusion and doesn't really add anything. -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 15:47, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank you. Can we work on the data privacy aspect of this and word it as „a Swiss based associate“ instead of using the full name? This is - unlike the other individuals named - not a person of interest to the public and does not add to the point of StopAntisemitism exposing individuals? TruthPrevailsFinally (talk) 15:52, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
This is not Swiss or German Wikipedia, but international.
The person with the Hakenkreuz armband has been named by multiple international media outlets, as well as in thousands of replies on Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram, Facebook. The original post on Twitter has been viewed 1.4 million times and has been retweeted thousands of times (including the full name).
It's same as the Tron/Boris Floricic case, whose name is public for nearly 20 years now, even after court cases against the Wikimedia Foundation, who caused an undesired Streisand effect.
Apart from that, user TruthPrevailsFinally has a conflict of interest, as stated and as confessed above. The behavior of user TruthPrevailsFinally is similar to paid "content removal agencies". MarcoMiller2 (talk) 15:56, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
@MarcoMiller2 is correct. Wikipedia is not censored and abides by the laws of the United States. They're mentioned in a news source as well as the Vertex company's tweet itself. You can attempt to reach out as described in WP:Libel if you think there are legal issues. -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 16:03, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your help. TruthPrevailsFinally (talk) 16:04, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
Hello
I saw the readdition on Vertex‘s wiki - I had understood that you confirmed the removal. Can you help explain why it got added again? TruthPrevailsFinally (talk) 12:19, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
Wikipedia is a collaborative effort and my opinion does not align with everyone else's. I would suggest you ask on the Vertex Pharmaceuticals talk page, using the guide on COI requests as a template, and make a case for why any reasonable person, without a COI, would have it removed. -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 14:10, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
Hello, I see that an uncensored picture got added; it seems disproportionate for this site to pick this picture over many others. Request removal. TruthPrevailsFinally (talk) 21:51, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
I appreciate you confiding and reaching out to me, but this is not the appropriate forum, I'm no arbiter of Wikipedia. I see you're having a discussion on the Vertex talk page, which is good (though you should log in while doing it). I would highly recommend looking at WP:DISPUTE, WP:ANI, and WP:LIBEL (if relevant) -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 22:27, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

Citation for Stewart Rhodes

If you are going to have a Wikipedia article on insurrectionist Stewart Rhodes please make sure to include what his own family members think about him (he's evil). It does not good to just have articles presenting one side of a person who is clearly a danger to democracy.
