- I have just reverted that again. It is undue weight for that article. Fleming's rule is much more well known, yet does not even get a metion in that article. I know you were pointed there at AFC, but I think you got some very bad advice, see my comment there. There exists already FBI mnemonics and Fleming's left-hand rule for motors but before you try to add anything to those I would like to see you establish notability for Salu's rule first. If it is notable the article at AFC can be published but I'm afraid it's looking like it isn't notable. I cannot find anyone who has cited Salu's paper or mentioned his rule. Faraday’s Law describes two different phenomena: Generation of emf due to motion of charges in a magnetic field, and generation of emf due to time varying magnetic fields. Fleming’s rules, which were introduced at the beginning of the 20’th century, deal only with the first group of phenomena (in generators and in motors). They are basically mnemonics for Lorenz’s force. Salu’s left-hand rule, which was introduced in 2013, deals directly with Faraday’s Law, including time varying magnetic fields, which are not covered by Fleming’s rules.
I planned on writing a new page about Salu’s left-hand rule, including description, examples and justification, and also to insert a shorter subsection in the existing page of Faraday’s Law. These planned pages are based on an article published in “The Physics Teacher”, a peer reviewed international journal of the American Association of Physics Teachers and the American Institute of Physics. This journal publishes only notable articles that have been thoroughly reviewed for accuracy. This subject is of interest to anyone who is involved in magnetic induction, from high school physics students to engineers and scientists. I believe that this material is also suitable for Wikipedia. I would appreciate it very much if you could advise me on how to proceed. Thanks, Makkabi Makkabi (talk) 06:33, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- You should proceed by first convincing us that the subject is notable. On wikipedia that means showing there is significant coverage in reliable sources (plural = more than one, generally taken to mean at least three) that are independent of the subject (ie not written by Salu) WP:42. No amount of argument from you that the rule is useful will overcome the lack of notability. According to Scholar, Salu's paper has zero citations [1]. That is, nobody has taken any note of it, that is, it is not notable. SpinningSpark 12:06, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
