TWL Questia check-in

Hello!

You are receiving this message because The Wikipedia Library has record of you receiving a one-year subscription to Questia. This is a brief update to remind you about that access:

  • Make sure that you can still log in to your Questia account; if you are having trouble feel free to get in touch.
  • When your account expires you can reapply for access at WP:Questia.
  • Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, make sure to include citations with links on Wikipedia: links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed.
  • Write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, email us and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.

Finally, we would greatly appreciate if you filled out this short survey. The survey helps us not only better serve you with facilitating this particular partnership, but also helps us discover what other partnerships and services The Wikipedia Library can offer.

Thanks!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Question about talk page archives

Hi Makyen. Not sure if you remember, but you helped me set up my user talk page archives when I joined Wikipedia a few years back. The archiving has been working fine, but I have been unable to get the User:Marchjuly/Archive index page to work. If possible, I would like to have something along the lines of your User talk:Makyen/Archive index. Do you have any idea how I can set this up? Also, there is a redlink "Archive 1" appearing in my archive box, but I'm not sure what it is for or how to fix it. Any ideas on what to do there? Finally, I would like to be able to navigate from one archive page to another without having to go back to my main talk page. I think this can be done using a template such as {{automatic archive navigator}}, but I'm not sure how to do it exactly. Any suggestions about that would also be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:03, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: I am happy to help. However, due to some family issues, it is going to be a few days prior to my being able to spend some time on this. You might notice that the archive index on my page is more than a year out of date. Let me start running an experiment on my page to see if one way to get that updated will work (could take a few days to know results). — Makyen (talk) 22:07, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
Hi Makyen. For some reason I just noticed your reply now, so sorry for not responding sooner. Would appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks in advance. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:12, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

Ref supports2

Hi Makyen. Ref supports2 isn't working at the moment. Do you have any idea why that is? --Anthonyhcole (talk · contribs · email) 06:01, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

@Anthonyhcole: I'm sorry to hear there is a problem. I should be able to take a look at it tonight. — Makyen (talk) 21:54, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
Thanks mate. I'm not really using it because it's not accessible to users of screen readers. But the issue of "What exactly does each citation support?" has come up twice in the last few days - User:Magnus Manske mentioned it on Wikimedia-l here and User:LeadSongDog brought it up here on Meta. I'd like that discussion to grow, if possible, and pointing to your solution makes it easier to explain the problem and visualise potential solutions. --Anthonyhcole (talk · contribs · email) 09:59, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
It is fixed. It was still working on the template documentation page because the copy in the page cache had not been updated. When I purged that page's cache it stopped working there. I have updated the {{Ref supports2}} template and verified it is now working on the pages which use it. If you find somewhere it is still not working, please tell me. I investigated to see what was modified to caused it to break. I suspect it was a change to the MediaWiki software that caused the problem as none of the code above that level had been modified more recently than October 2014. The change I made to {{Ref supports2}} results in it being more robust which should help prevent any additional modifications to the underlying software causing more problems. — Makyen (talk) 11:39, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
Yay! Thank you Makyen. --Anthonyhcole (talk · contribs · email) 12:25, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
Interesting, thank you. Commented at template talk:Ref supports2. LeadSongDog come howl! 22:01, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
