September 2018[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm HickoryOughtShirt?4. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Qalandar have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:14, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to Qalandar appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:17, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

{unblock|reason= I apologize, I had no idea you guys were sending me notification as I was on my phone editing. I understand what I need to do now and ask for you to remove the block. Thanks for the clarity Mansooryo (talk) 04:44, 26 September 2018 (UTC)}[reply]

I received your email, however, I am not an admin and it is up to the admins to unblock you. I will say though, didn't you stop and wonder why someone was reverting you so much and read my edit summaries? You sent me a message on my talk page so you knew someone was reverting you. Once again though, it isn't up to me but I suggest using what you sent me in your email in your unblock request. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:54, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You didn't need notifications or to read the guidelines to understand your edits were directly harming Wikipedia. Yamla (talk) 12:08, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I've fully understood what the team has said after multiple conversations and requests, read the appropriate guidelines and will make sure it doesn't happen again. It was my first time doing anything on wikipedia and unknowingly I messed up as an amateur/newbie. I hope we can get past this, I've read the guidelines and promise to be a positive team member moving forward. Thank you for guiding me on this experience <3 and appreciate everyones contribution Hope you grant my appeal Mansooryo (talk) 21:22, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

OK then. Good luck and happy editing. Drmies (talk) 00:31, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How were your edits harmful to Wikipedia? What contributions do you want to make if unblocked? 331dot (talk) 21:37, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. My edits were harmful because I went about making an addition without proving the notability of the reference I was editing. However, more of it was my aggressive approach in constantly changing it which made the admins upset, rightfully so. On my end, it was my first time and did not see the notifications, help guidelines they sent, or warnings and I fully accept the actions taken.

I've understood the necessary process of having a notable page before making additions to other pages and have read the notability guide

I've also went through the external linking guideline and have understood the external linking process as well.

With that being said, I look forward to contributing on various topics of Sufism (Spirituality) and the various categories underneath it to make the content more relevant on different pages. I'll be looking to add resourceful information that proves the concept is not only in the East but is widely recognized in the West as well. I may look to expand my contributions later, but for now this would be my start to benefit the community.

If you have any further guidance for me, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks for taking your time to read this and giving me a chance to explain my mistake.

@Drmies: Mansooryo has said that she or he now understands and will not do the same again. I know from the few occasions when I have edited from a phone that it can indeed be easy to miss notifications of messages, and it must be even easier to do so for a new editor who does not know to look out for those notifications. While I fully agree with your decision to block at the time, I think we should now give the editor another chance. Any opinion? The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 23:00, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • JamesBWatson, I figured I'd take care of it myself, so I don't always look like the bad admin. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 00:31, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Last warning: you're wasting our time. You can't just add someone who has no wiki article, no references, no nothing. From my point of view, you're just spamming. Drmies (talk) 04:21, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize, I had no idea you guys were sending me notification as I was on my phone editing. I understand what I need to do now and ask for you to remove the block. Thanks for the clarity

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because it appears that you are not here to build an encyclopedia.

You sent me an email. There's nothing more I can do for you, though you are welcome to make another unblock request. You'll probably want to address the issues that lead to me declining your first one. --Yamla (talk) 17:56, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
