A tag has been placed on your user page, User:ParsePlatform, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Request reason:

I understand now that the username cannot be an organization name. Apologies, I wasn’t aware of that. The purpose of creating this account is to disambiguate between the discontinued company Parse Inc., currently page “Parse (platform)” and the related open source project “Parse Platform” which currently does not have a page. I intend to use this account to create a new page to describe Parse Platform. A page move request for "Parse (platform)" to "Parse Inc." has already been placed. I do not intend to use this account for advertising. In fact, the edits that were made on the current "Parse (platform)" page did not add any additional links, but corrected the domain "parseplatform.org" to "parse.com" in the company factsheet, and instead added the "parseplatform.org" link to the text. The existing Wikipedia page is confusing for readers because the page is currently mixing information about the discontinued company Parse Inc. and the active open source project Parse Platform. There is no compensation for me involved. Thanks. ManuelTrezza (talk) 20:50, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that Deb has unblocked you. SQLQuery Me! 02:07, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Deb, I left an unblock request on my talk page. Could you please take a look at it? Thanks! ManuelTrezza (talk) 10:11, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request[edit]

On the deleted page you wrote that it was "The official account" of ParsePlatform and that you were "focused on maintaining Parse Platform related Wikipedia content". You need to read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and explain your connection with this product, why you used the word "we", why you said it was an "official account". To be unblocked, you also need to state what you intend to work on in future. Deb (talk) 10:26, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I am in the Parse Platform community that consists of thousands of people. Parse Platform is not a company nor an organization, it’s an online community. Naturally, someone who is not in that online community will hardly realize that the current Wikipedia article is plainly incorrect, because it mixes a company with a community’s open source project. The company is dissolved, so from their side no-one will correct that. From the community side, I attempted to rename the page and - as I know now - should have done that under my own name. But the underlying issue is that Wikipedia contains an incorrect article. I want to reiterate that this was not a promotional edit, it was to correct incorrect information on Wikipedia. Regarding what this account intends to work on in the future - it doesn't have any specific agenda, it's a private account like any other and the intention is to contribute to Wikipedia, not specific to any topic. User:Deb, I forgot to tag you I think so you get notified about my reply. ManuelTrezza (talk) 12:57, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please clarify - why did you write those things if you didn't mean them? Deb (talk) 14:01, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Deb, I never said I didn't mean them. I meant what I wrote, but that was before I knew that accounts cannot be used in that way. Now I know it and this account was renamed to be _my personal, private account_ with a different purpose. Maybe that was a mistake and I should not have requested to rename this account and just opened a new private account? If that is the case, then this account can be renamed back to "ParsePlatform" and stay blocked and I will open a new private account. Please advice what the best way forward is. ManuelTrezza (talk)
You can open a new account but then you might be asked the same questions if you try to edit the article Parse (platform) again. Probably the best way to go is just to disclose a COI on the Talk page of the article. I can unblock you if you are happy to do that. Deb (talk) 17:13, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Deb You mean I can re-request renaming the article page and disclose that I am member of that community, and then hope it gets approved? Sure, I’ll be happy to do that. ManuelTrezza (talk) 18:23, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That question makes me nervous. Yes, you can do that, but I would recommend you be absolutely certain that you understand how Wikipedia works before you re-submit the request. You should make the disclosure before you do anything else. I'm unblocking you on the understanding that you will do that. Deb (talk) 08:41, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I understand that. Thanks User:Deb. Maybe you can give me a general advice how to approach this. The COI clause “strongly discourages” me (and everyone else of the thousands of our open source community members) to edit the article. The reasons are obvious, to prevent promotional or tendentious edits. However, I would think that the COI clause is not intended not prevent from correcting incorrect information, that would contradict the main purpose of the COI clause as I understand it, which is to make sure the article information is correct and objective. Would you advice that I do not request renaming the article at all, and if yes, how else should that incorrect information be corrected? ManuelTrezza (talk) 10:32, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would say, by all means mention this on the Talk page, but also don't make it appear that your only reason for being here is to work on this one article. You can raise the matter at Wikipedia:WikiProject Computing or approach any administrator for assistance in making the move. Deb (talk) 10:37, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How could I approach an admin to help in making this move? The previous request seems to have failed because there were no votes for or against it, so it seems to have just expired. ManuelTrezza (talk) 10:45, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
