File copyright problem with File:Nottingham TV G Thumb.JPG[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Nottingham TV G Thumb.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:33, 8 October 2010 (UTC) Dear Editor. I'm on a learning curve here but I created this image. I took the Photo had it enlarged, mounted in and then 'Puppetised it'. Added my Puppet Making Materials in Graffiti style. I own the copyright. Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Marcus Clarke (puppeteer), you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged.   1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

This is your last warning; the next time you insert a spam link, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines.  Chzz  ►  12:21, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't inserted any Spam link. I'm not a Spammer. I have added some of the credits from my erased page with references on the discussion page of my newly created 'Marcus Clarke' Puppeteer page. I cannot add them myself because of the claimed 'conflict of interest'. They are significant, relevant, verifiable and true credits. I am of course now totally dependent on editors to re-instate this information for me on wiki. Marcus clarke (talk) 10:20, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If there's anything important missing from the article that can be backed up with independent sources, I'd be happy to wikify it for you in the article. Just put it on the article's talkpage. --Andreas Philopater (talk) 15:48, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes and I am adding it with verification to the Discussion Page to be added by editors Marcus clarke (talk) 10:22, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm removing the edit requested template that was on User:Teapotgeorge's talk page (which was recently archived) and is now found at User_talk:Teapotgeorge/Archive_3. If you'd like move help, please let me know on my talk page, or add a {{help me}} template to this page and someone will be by shortly. :) Banaticus 13:46, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Banaticus, I've put some of my credits with references on the Marcus Clarke Puppeteer discussion page and would be grateful if someone would add them for me please Marcus clarke (talk) 19:09, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'll do that later tonight, for all your credits with references. :) Banaticus (talk) 02:11, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Partially done -- I haven't added in anything from IMDb, the article needs to be better formatted -- the Spotlight formatting is terrible. We can't really link to your personal website as it's a primary source -- you can say anything you want to about yourself. I may have a hard time finding copies of those TV clips you mentioned and if I don't see them or see some neutral party talking about them then I can't add them in. Anyway, if you have more questions then leave me a message on my talk page or put a {{help me}} template here and someone will come by and help you. :) Banaticus (talk) 09:06, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Banaticus. What you've done really helps and makes a big difference. I'm developing my Puppet TV Graffiti Contemporary Art at the moment which I hope will progress puppetry. Should generate some exhibition credits too later in the year. Thanks again, Marcus clarke (talk) 08:15, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is my You tube Channel http://www.youtube.com/user/bambooshoe?feature=mhum where I have uploaded some TV Clips that have more information. Some have on screen credits too. Is it worth adding this to my references? Or external sites? Marcus clarke (talk) 11:31, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Marcus. I hope you don't mind me reorganising, for clarity. Youtube should not be in references, and often not a great in External Links either. However, I don't see an issue in putting a single external link to your "official" youtube channel. WormTT 14:12, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't see this discussion before I looked over the article discussion page and the article page. I removed the YouTube link, since there was already a link to his "Official" website. Marcus, go to town reformatting the page for clarity. For instance, several times, the same "work" (show, whatever) is listed in slightly different manners. For instance:
  • 2007 Milky, THE MILKSHAKE SHOW, Chanel Five Broadcasting, Jeremy Swan
  • 2008 MIlky, THE MILKSHAKE SHOW, Channel Five, Louise Beresford
On this page, we really don't care who produced/directed the content. The information should probably go into cells in a table. Heck, I'll just go do it. ;) Let's have any future discussions on the article over on the article discussion page, though. If you'd like any further help, contact me on my user talk page or put a {{help me}} template up on your own user talk page and someone will be along to help you. :) Banaticus (talk) 11:51, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Banaticus the Milkshake Shows are different Seasons or Series. 2008's for example was BAFTA nominated. This is true of The Christmas Milkshake Show and A Christmas Milkshake too. Doesn't bother you when your doing them because you know what year it is. I'll add You Tube Site and see and also copy this over onto the discussion page Marcus clarke (talk) 12:38, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Puppeteers[edit]

Hi Marcus, If you're interested in developing your engagement with wikipedia (which can be fun, when other users don't stomp on your edits), I wonder if you could add or expand entries about other puppeteers? You must have a much better idea than most about who is notable in the field. --Andreas Philopater (talk) 09:58, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Andreas,

Yes I do. It would be great if more Puppeteers listed themselves something I encourage them to do. All Puppetry Practitioners need to advocate for our much missunderstood Art form and listing here is yet one more way. With as much information about themselves and their work as possible. 'Stomping on Edits'. While Editors were quick enough to tear my House down they seem reluctant now to rebuild it with the credits I have resupplied with verification? Something I am dependent on them to do with my own right to edit them having been taken away. Marcus clarke (talk) 21:10, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your biography[edit]

Hi Marcus. I just thought I'd send you a message to discuss the article Marcus Clarke (puppeteer). I get an awful feeling its turning into a bit of a CV, which is not what Wikipedia is for. Comments such as "My listing doesn't currently reflect the fact that I am also a world class Puppet Maker" worry me especially. Please don't feel that I'm doubting your credentials but this is exactly the sort of thing that our conflict of interest guideline is supposed to prevent. The article should be written in a dispassionate tone, documenting what secondary sources say about you, rather than a list of your achievements.

For example, I'd love to see your article become a bit more like Kevin Clash's or dare I hope even Jim Henson's. The important thing with them is that they discuss their works from an outside view. At the moment, your article only includes 5 sources. Do you know of any publications that discuss your work or have reviewed you? I think they might be helpful in creating a great article. WormTT 14:02, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Worm, Kevin Clash was one of the first people to teach me Puppeteering. Brian Henson mostly taught me though and over several years. I think there's been fair comment all round on my listing. Oddly enough there's not much evidencing of my Puppet Making and Television Puppeteering work over the past 20 years because I didn't do publicity most of that time. Prefferring my Puppets to take the Limelight. Also there's an element of Magic about a Puppet character that you don't want to dispel by pointing out that the Puppet was made like this out of bits of fur and foam and that there's this big bloke who moves it about from underneath. I'm making an effort now because I Teach and Lecture on Puppetry for the Screen and advocate for the Artform. I want Puppetry recognised as perhaps the oldest Artform. One that is practiced all over the World too. Most importantly I want 'Puppetry for the Screen' taught as a form of animation in Schools and HE. That's why I'm doing this rather than simply to the greater glory of myself. Thanks to all for their help and commments. Marcus clarke (talk) 15:33, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just had a look at Kevin Clash's listing. Isn't that more like what my listing looked like before it got tore down? This is the format of my own CV http://www.handsuppuppets.com/html/CV.html

Marcus clarke (talk) 15:50, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't realise quite how close nit the puppeteering community was! I was refering more to their articles though, the style and shape - based mostly in prose so that your average reader will look and become interested. Obviously Jim Henson has had a lot of coverage over the years, but I'd not heard of Kevin Clash until I was looking into articles to give you an example. It's a pity that there's not been much publicity (though I can sympathise with the reason). I'll have a look, if I get some time, and draft up an article I think more appropriate for the encyclopedia. I do have to warn you that it won't be sycophantic, I'd be aiming for a neutrally written biography. Any help you could give though would be appreciated - if you do come up with any published documents that mention your work or even if you could release a few images to Wikimedia Commons (allowing them to be shared under the CC-BY-SA license) so that we can include them in the article. For example a picture of you and maybe one or two of your most recognisable puppets.
By the way, while your goals such are clearly noble (and I hope, attainable), I hope you realise that what you'll get from Wikipedia is a biographical article. This isn't a place to change the world, all it does is state how the world is. We'd appreciate any help you can give with any other puppet based articles though - pointing out inaccuracies or expanding the remaining content.
(after edit conflict) I didn't realise your article had been torn down. I'll look into that now. WormTT 15:55, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes. I see what happened. The article was unreferenced (meaning we couldn't verify the information) and was a bit of an autobiography. Loses the neutrality that way. I'll see what I can do - it may not be until next week though. WormTT 15:57, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Worm that all sounds good and fair. I realise Wiki has its own style and it's really great of you to draft a new listing. Be as straight forward and no none sense as you like. I am after all a bit of an airy fairy artist.

Wiki can use any pictures from my website handsuppuppets.com (there's quite a lot of me, especially on my CV page. If you need me to 'release them' you might have to walk me through that process. Marcus clarke (talk) 16:07, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I think it will be best for you to "release" the pictures to Wikipedia. It's not just to Wikipedia by the way, under the license, the pictures can then be used by commercial ventures with attribution, so if you hold the copyright, and are willing to allow these under the WP:CC-BY-SA license, I'll take you through it when the article is up to scratch. I've had a bit of a snoop online, and I've found seven sources not including your website, so I think I should have enough there to write an article. One thing though (and you may have already answered this) - can you list any awards you've won through your work? I think they'd make a great addition to the article. WormTT 16:19, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see you've tweaked the article. IMO I've made it a bit more encyclopedic but what do you think? WormTT 20:41, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think it serves well worm. I've added some pictures to Wiki Commons, me with puppet, holding puppet making workshops and lecturing including a couple of my Contemporary Artwork as I'm booked for a couple of interviews and am putting some up for Exhibition. hope their useful.
