Welcome[edit]

Hello, Marios Tofi, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you have edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then get me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that if more than one person is using this account to edit, then unfortunately it will be blocked from editing.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Ysangkok (talk) 00:10, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

December 2009[edit]

If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Marios Tofi, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. PDCook (talk) 03:48, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Marios Tofi. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. PDCook (talk) 20:41, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Marios Tofi. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. PDCook (talk) 20:41, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. Continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Marios Tofi, without resolving the problem that the template refers to may be considered vandalism. Further edits of this type may result in you being blocked from editing Wikipedia. PDCook (talk) 21:07, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the future, look up WP policies or ask someone if you're unsure about something, as opposed to doing something that is frowned upon, like removing maintenance templates or adding spam links.

Bear in mind that two important policies are WP:Autobiography and WP:COI. I'm curious as to why you called this "your" article if you are not Marios Tofi, given that User:Emusicmag made the article.

Nonetheless, given your name the COI tag needs to stay on the page. Furthermore, the references given need to be WP:Reliable sources. Please see WP:External links, as links to facebook, myspace, and twitter are not acceptable. If you have any questions, please ask. PDCook (talk) 21:12, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The best thing you can do is find articles from independent WP:Reliable sources that discuss Marios Tofi. His official site is not considered independent. Has he been in the news? Use those articles as sources. If you can find couple such articles, that would satisfy the self-published and primary sources issues. The COI tag needs to stay on for now. Regards, PDCook (talk) 21:17, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't delete the previous text you've typed on my talk page. Just write below it and use a : to indent. I understand that some pages have links to Myspace etc., but WP is not a collection of links to social networking sites (WP:External links. However, the sites you mentioned also have WP:Reliable sources, and many editors are much more forgiving if notability and verifiability have already been established. PDCook (talk) 21:26, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As for the User:Emusicmag issue, if you look at the Marios Tofi aticle's history, User:Emusicmag created the page. So that is why I was confused why you called it your article. Which made me suspicious that you're either Marios Tofi or the author, User:Emusicmag. PDCook (talk) 21:33, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You should also check out WP:Citing sources for how to properly cite the sources you find. Regards, PDCook (talk) 21:39, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This was moved here from Help talk:Talk page, where it was mistakenly posted.

Hello! I've tried to fix the problems you've asked me. Could you tell me please how is it going? I would like to ask you also how it's the best way to add photos where I could find from the internet about this article. Marios Tofi (talk) 08:35, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Marios Tofi. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also useful when reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. PDCook (talk) 12:45, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The references you have provided in the Marios Tofi article are just links to other WP articles. These do not constitute WP:Reliable sources, and should be part of a "See also" section. Please find reliable sources that establish the WP:Notability of Marios Tofi. Regards, PDCook (talk) 12:47, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Username[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, Marios Tofi, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it implies you are Marios Tofi which is particularly problematic as you have made significant edits to this article. Please note that per WP:REALNAME you should not have a username that reflects a well known living person unless you are: (a) that living person or (b) you make it clear you are not that living person and that is your real name. I note that you have claimed you are not the subject of the article, hence your current use of this username probably does not follow the username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. Camaron · Christopher · talk 10:52, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Marios Tofi, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. -- Cirt (talk) 00:16, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
