SLOVAKIA

HI I am currently working on Slovakian vilages and I compiled the List of villages and municipalities in Slovakia. I am about half the way through I would be extremely grateful if you would help out. It would get done so much quicker and I would have motivation because at present I seem like the only one on the planet interested in mapping it out. See Kojatice for the layout. The info can be quickly retrieved from the external link. Click on the district and it will list the municipalities. Click the one you want and it will come up with loads of basic info. To start with I am just copying the first page History and Geography and adding them to the starter articles. Then I cut and paste every page -quicker and just adjust the info. Want to help out? Indexing

Nyangaard is talking about indexing. Which I was well aware of a minor task to do once all the villages are done if for instance a village begins with č example: the village is called česky. in the category index this will not be a c but will be listed after z as a č. To sort this it should be Category:Villages and muncipalities in Snina District|cesky - english written in.

Boldfacing in articles

Hi MarkBA. Only the title of an article should be boldfaced. Please seeWikipedia:Manual of Style (text formatting)#Boldface. I have gone through some of the many stubs you have created removing the boldfacing from other words in the introduction but wow you have created a lot of stubs!. Have a breather now! As you live in Bratislava I assume that Slovak is your first language. Your written english does seem very good but how are you on writing? What do you plan to do next because although the geo stubs have been started, many in the Banska Bystrica and others are sub stubs still and have no info. Each village on that website has a lot of other basic details such as economic facilities, government offices, population characteristics , sport, culture and transport details which I was doing on every article about half the way throguh Slovakia but was taking too long. for example Čaňa. Each village I think has its own website with a mass of info on them but it is in Slovak. ALso check out Hungary and Romania. Practically both countries are empty in their village entries and I think Czech Republic is only about 1/4 covered. I see though that you plan on doing motorways in Czech Republic? Either way your help has been terrific but let me know what you want to do. I will be concentrating on film now but if you are willing to continue with villages which really do need sorting out I will give you help along the way. All the best and again congratualtions!! HUNGARY

OK I have checked Hungary. Have a look at the main page. The main regions are:

• Western Transdanubia
• Southern Transdanubia
• Central Transdanubia
• Central Hungary
• Northern Hungary
• Northern Great Plain
• Southern Great Plain

But counties divide up the country administation. I have started Bácsborsód which is a large village and municipality in Bács-Kiskun county.

Have a look then at the Bács-Kiskun page. You'll see all the missing villages. Basic info can be taken from hungarian wikipedia. Do you have any idea what population means in hungarian have a look on hungarian wikipedia. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:17, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

What does population mean in Hungarian? Is it Összesen which I think it is , Irányítószám or Körzethívószám

Have a look at the county box of the villages at the bottom of Bácsborsód. It looks a mess. Unlike Slovakia have they never heard of an alphabet? If you browse through other counties and other regions who will see what a bad state Hungary is in. This needs sorting out man! Practically all of the villages are missing and the ones that exist don't have a map or any pointer to where in Hungary it is. Every article even if only a stub needs to tell the reader where it is. this is the whole point of geo articles initially. Most of the existing ones I wouldn't have a clue where they were.

I have now completed all the navigation boxes for the Northern PLain regionbut it took my 45 minutes! to complete the Template:Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg. Just look how many missing articles!!!! Not bad eh? there is so much vast missing info on wikipedia. The history article though needs to be expanded about ten times!! It also needs to study the region historcially when the county was seperated into three smaller counties. But it is a start. I'll contine with villages now. Hey not bad that we've reached 1,500,000 articles is it? If you think that the largest ever edition of Encyclopedia Britannica in its 50 or so volumes only ever had 85,000 articles and the largest ever comiled in human history I think is about 300,000 this really puts things in perspective. Over 18 times bigger than the largest library of britannica already! And then you see our latest county and how empty it is!! I really think wikipedia can only grow from strength to strength. It will be MASSIVE in years to come. What the internet needs is one primary source of information. You think of how much info exactly exists over the newtork. If one giant global site could produce this which wikipedia is potentially capable of doing then think how great it would be!! How's school anyway? Do you have a career in mind? I thought the template was way too big so I have found a way around it . It looks much smarter now. I suggest that for the larger counties which have a high number of villages which look like a list rather than a template we have the villages listed on a seperate page see Template:Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County now

Nygaard suggestions (criticisms)

If those navigation boxes look like I imagine they will look, don't do it. They will be useless for navigation purposes, render the "what links here" feature totally useless, and cause all sorts of other problems. Gene Nygaard 01:07, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi Mark yes I have read Nygaard's comments and I am not happy with bullying on this site. Every city town and vilage in Hungary should NOT go in the main category there are well over a thousand and it would be too full. THat page is sub categorized appropriately into county categories which the villages should go in I have suggested that only Cities and town in the country go in two categories I will fix this. As for sanctions. Mark if your work was so terrible I doubt very much that you would have been praised so much and awarded a barnstar for your work!! Not exactly the kind of thing you give to a vandal!

I just like the majority of users over two million are extremely grateful for your work and contirbution. Don't let comments like this deter you. HURRAHHHHHH! THE PROBLEM IS OVER!!!!!!We can carry on using the info boxes Yes I am so happy I solved it. What was causing the problem was the category of the actual template Template:HungaryCities. I just removed the category and problem solved. Now it has automatically taken away all of the wrong categories on all of the others. Yes!! Our villages no longer inhabit the main Hungarian cities categories and neither are they wrongly indexed. We are steadily making progress I have branched out the top links a bit by starting economy stubbish and list of cities by population. I want to sart the government and politics of the county but can't find any info!!! Here is encouragement. I started Balkány as a new stub the other day - several days later has a nice bit of detail! If this could be done for every village as I think is currently being done in Slovakia then our work is very succesful. Problem is over

I have continued and added about 10 new ones to Hajdu county and there is no longer a problem any more trust me. Just the one county category and correct english indexing Everything is perfect. Feel free to continue using Berekböszörmény.

I have just been indexing some of the SLovakian villages and I find that many of the inital stubs I started have been turned into really great articles. Our work clearly was very important. You may want to talk and meet User talk:Jpurdes.who I think is transforming them from stubs. I don't know if he is Slovak but he appears to understand it. They look good your motorway articles but remember to use Category:Roads in Serbia too. I will continue to gradually sort out Hungary particularly the navigation bozes. Then the villages can then be started. This will be a gradual thing as I will be working on film and geo-articles as I said but I would still be grateful if you would continue with adding a number of villages when you can. See ya. Mark remember that every motorway article particularly if it is called A1, A2 A3 or M3 or whatever you need to list it on the main A? page. E.g your Croatia motrway A5 (Croatia) needs to have a link on the page A5. We'll continue on Hungary later. I have just created some new paiting articles. Hi how is everything. I see that you like my have taken almost a week away from wikipedia. To be honest i was getting sick of people arguing losing sight of the main picture. First there was that busines with Nygaard over villages, then I have had trouble with uploaded images by a user who keeps tagging everything - many agree with me he should be blocked, then some people have put some of my past stubs up for deletion and some user keeps trying to delete all of my Finnish films who is on par with Nygaard in terms of nastiness. Municipalities in Slovakia

MarkBA, thank you very much for your great job in creating stubs for Slovakia's municipalities! Your number of contributions in recent days is pretty impressive and such prolific editors are really needed here. I hope you will continue to create, expand, and look after articles about Slovakia also in the future. Just a minor point: If you create an article about a village, such as Sklené, Turčianske Teplice, it is more standard to name it Sklené, Turčianske Teplice District because the village is part of the district of Turčianske Teplice, not of the town of Turčianske Teplice. A NEW WIKILANGUAGE SISTER PROJECT

I propose a new major wikiproject Wikilanguage or Wiki Linguistics which specializes in the teaching of all languages. I have looked over the internet and have found some sites which do have several of the major languages giving knowledge of learning them but this wuould be huge and would provide all the information for learning languages such as most of the 250 languages that already have wikipedias. Learning a language is a major infomration source but wikipedia does not have this. Anybody interested in starting this ? I beleive this wikipedia sister project would be developed into an extremwely valuable resoruce not only for achieving knowledge of major languages but also other world languages which are not always readily available to learn.

I beleive that such is the massive global size of wikipedia that wikipedians from each country who have a knoweldge of their own languages could contribute. E.g I would like to have a knowledge of the Slovak or Finnish language but at present there is not much detail. I would like a complete WikipediaLinguistics Sister project devoted to providing languages across the planet.

E.g WikiLanguages would be divded into 250 languages eventually or whatever with each having a massive sub project of its own. WikiFrench WikiSpanish WikiFinnish, WikiPortuguese, WikiGerman, WikiPortuguese, WikiCzech WikiItalian WikiGreek WikiSwedish WikiJapanese etc. What do you think. If you think it is a good idea let me know I have propsed it on the main page but I seriously think this would be an immensely benefical part of wikipedia. Also if it could incorpate translation technology also think of the immense benefit it wuod,have from translating articles from foreign wikipedias!!!

If you think it is a great idea I am thinking of organizing a Support campaign for it to ensure that WikiLinguistics or whatever is established alongside WikiSpecies WikiCommons etc. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 11:52, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes it would provide the knowledge of learning every language fluently including all aspects grammar, etc. The dictionaries could be a part of WikiDictionary but these would be specializes disctionaries by langage an A-Z as you would buy from Collins in the shops. I have spoken to to lead WIkipedian technician in Tampa FLorida about using an audio for most words and sentences to not only learn to read and write fluently but to speak it too. E.g if at this munite I wanted to learn Slovak the etire sub project of WikiLanguages entitled WikiSlovak would be there starting with the basic phrases and grammar with perhaps a thousand pages taking you through the learning it at a high level. I beleive this new project I have devised is massive and could become world renowned if allowed to develop like Wikiproject. It couldalso have translation technology so all articles missing from english wikipedia could be translated instantly. A very important tool. But in the end I anticipate it could create some new 250 webistes of WikiLanguages with each language teaching world languages in their particular language. This would be the ultimate library for all languages on the planet. It could even provide knowledge of local dialects etc. Why pay hundreds of dollars for another website with limited languages or expensive language leanring packages when this new project could teach every language fluently for free. I would hope it would grow like its sister Wikipedia with millions of words. English wikipedia has memebrs from over a hundred countries each could contrinute gradaully with their knowledge of thier own language and it would grow at an accelarating rate like wikiepdia. I mean if you search the enitre world now on google for example Learning Hungarian there is really no free easy to learn fluent source in English to achieve this. Martin Farkas

Hi. I think you are completely right ant Martin Farkas is not notable enough. On the other hand, it seems some other editors think the opposite, see List of sole survivors of aviation accidents or incidents. So I will not initiate an AfD. If you want to have that article deleted, I will probably support you. I have at least corrected the error that you mentioned in your comment. And, by the way, I really like your edits. Almost all the towns in Slovakia have now infoboxes in Wikipedia, which is great. And I also hope that we will cover more topics in the military history of Slovakia in the future. Ehm, not really. Unfortunately, there are no books about Hurban where I live. If you live in Slovakia (I guess you do), maybe you can check out Slovensky biograficky slovnik and all those books with a title like Dejiny Slovenska. It is also fairly difficult to find any information about Slovak airports in general. I'm afraid I cannot help you with these ones. Oh, yeah, this is the biggest problem with DYK: the most important articles are already written and it is difficult to find references for the remaining, more or less obscure topics. Genealogy help

Hello - I'm researching families in Krasnovce, Slovakia, and have a handful of pre-WWII photographs which (apparently) depict the main street in Krasnovce circa 1920-1930. If you (or anyone) as a kind of "most wanted" list, of things that are on the SK version, but really need to be on the EN version as well, please let me know. I work as a translator for a living, and at least for the moment, I enjoy working even when I'm not getting paid ;) My biggest areas of interest for this would be general Slovak history and almost anything related to BA. Requests to assist with Slovak hip hop will be smugly ignored ;)

BTW, regarding your templates... I live in Nové mesto, and your page for the district shows post code 832XX... but mine is 831 02, actually. There may be more prefixes in use, but I'm not sufficiently motivated to trawl over Slovenská pošta spreadsheets collecting the info. Also on the main BA page (don't know if you're responsible for this), there is an "Area Code" shown of 562000... do you have any idea what this is?

One thing I forgot to mention, which should interest you because it impacts your templates, is the translations for administrative divisions of Slovakia:

• Kraj - County (currently shown as "Region" on the BA page)... to have a direct linguistic parallel to "county", the word "kraj" should really be "grófstvo". I have seen "kraj" translated both ways, though. If you decide to adopy "county", you might want to add entries for kraj on the County page as well.
• Okres - District - this is the accepted translation. Fortunately, Slovakia doesn't have oblasti as well :)
• Mestská časť - Might be better as Borough - "city part" in many translations is too literal. Ward (politics) is also a (lesser) candidate term.

Can you provide sources?

You seem like a reasonable editor so maybe you could clear up this matter. I simply asked you to provide sources for the following controversial statement "In the High and Late Middle Ages, the town was the main producer of silver and gold in the Kingdom of Hungary (Slovakia was part of that kingdom from the 11th century until 1918)" You failed to provide sources but you also removed the fact template which can be considered vandalism without providing a source for a statement like above. No one is denying Slovaks lived in present day Slovakia for a long time. But then you reverted to the "Slovakia was part of..." Slovakia is a definite multiethnic country (home of the Slovaks and also the Hungarians who live there) with its own definite borders ,history etc. So "Slovakia" has no other meaning but the State of Slovakia and if you want to state that the state of Slovakia existed in the 11th century but the evil Hungarians annexed it or whatever you can say that but you should back it up with sources. Commment This has developed extremely well in the last few months, the article was a pleasure to read concise, well structured providing all the information you would expect in a FA standard article. The article summarizes major topics particularly well. However one or two minor quabbles. Firstly I'd like to see more references particularly on broad statements that will need verification to reach an FA status. In many places referencing is still rather sparse and needs consolidation throughout and reliability of all sources checking before the proposal. Secondly there are one or two unencyclopedic sentences which will need to be factualized. For instance "Bratislava is an hour's drive from the Czech Republic" - maybe so but this is highly dependent on traffic, speed, automobile etc. Stick to fact as much as possible, which you genrally have very well. Thirdly I'd like to see the government and politics section written more coherently and a bit more detail given-this for me was the only flawed section I could see in the article. I have adjusted the structure of the article in places which are related to geography first and beleive this is the structure that will take this to FA. Other than these very minor flaws it is a very good article for the world to read and believe that with a bit of work should reach FA requirments. It would be better to resolve the copyright problem before the FA application. But the only solution I could come up with is to upload a copy of the coat of arms to en.wikipedia as a fair use picture. However, I am not completely sure FA articles can use any fair use pictures. I just finished "Demographics". I compared it with "History" side-by-side, and I didn't see a problem with repetition. For one thing, I think that each section should be able to stand alone, and there will therefore be a certain amount of repetition overall. You ask why dated. The sentence read "Today, Bratislava enjoys...". Fifty years from now, "today" will mean "fifty years ago", but the reader won't know that unless we tell him now. It is a pity. We have done a lot of work on Bratislava. But never mind, the article is in a very good shape and I suggest we wait a bit with another nomination. In the meantime, we should replace as many Slovak references with the English ones as possible. We should also provide some explanation for the recent economic boom of Bratislava. Another remaining issue (copyediting) is already resolved. I think the biggest problem with the latest nomination was simply that people were lost on a long FA/Bratislava page and had no time to read it all. That should be avoided next time. Another problem was caused by the summer time. I guess most editors come from colleges, which means they are around during the regular academic year. Next time, we can also perhaps advertise our FA candidature on the talk pages of people interested in the topic (some Slovak, Czech, and Polish editors) as well as on the Eastern European message board to attract more input. As to the Slovak infobox template, I think it is sufficient in its coverage of information, but the graphics is really lame. Why do you think that your country's euro-Atlantic integration process was not as fast as it could have been between 1993 and 1998? It was because of Mr. Meciar's policy. Slota is even worse than him. Both hate Hungarians (who form 9.5% of Slovakia's population). They are sovinists, and extremely nationalists.

4, I ereased this: "Most of Slovakia was integrated into the Kingdom of Hungary by c. 1100, northeastern parts by c. 1300. Because of its high level of economic and cultural development, Slovakia retained its important position in this new state. For almost two centuries, it was ruled autonomously as the Principality of Nitra, within the Kingdom of Hungary."

There was no principality of Nitra/Nyitra. Maybe, a Slovak noble man lived there, but there was no principality. Why? Because a prince is a relative of a royal family. That time, the Kingdom of Hungary was led by the Árpáds, and they did not create any principality in Nitra/Nyitra. In the early 14th century there was an oligarch, called Máté Csák (sorry, I don't know his name in Slovak), who de facto ruled the North-Western parts of Hungary (that is actually Western-Slovakia). I am not sure, but I think, that his ethnicity was Slovakian. His centre was in Trencin/Trencsén.

Why can't we agree on basic history topics? Why Slovakians and Hungarians have to fight??? We must co-operate, don't you understand???

Well, you don't need to give me your name, but calling party chauvinist without a reliable source is POV wording, and that's something we don't aim for. Another thing I dislike is deletion of uncontroversial, established content without reason. But I'm at least glad that some are willing to discuss some of the controversial matters (well, it's a long term debate on Slovak-Hungarian politics), as what I usually do here is reverting vandalism from real vandals. Bratislava and infoboxes

Ehm, I will look at Bratislava and try to shorten the history section. It kind of sucks that we had to expand it and now we have to shorten it - all because an FA candidature that does not attract much attention anyway. Do you think it would be a good idea to advertise the candidature at the Czech Noticeboard?

Btw, you might be interested in a new geobox template that I have recently used at Banska Bystrica. It is extremely flexible and creates very nice maps. I think it would be nice to replace all obsolete infoboxes and it is now quite easy: we need just to copy the geobox from Banska Bystrica and change the data. What do you think? Geobox 2

Hi, I've noticed you started using Geobox 2 for Slovak settlements. I've slightly changed Bratislava and Košice in two ways:

• The Country, State, Region, District and Municipality are to be used for administration units into which the site, whatever type it is, belongs. For parts into which it divides there's a part field, which is optionally foldable be (as every indexed field) foldable. This way, you can describe the administrative division and creating an easy way to navigate up and down its parts.
• I personally prefer not to repeat the administrative unit type twice on the same line, if the text on the left reads Region it seems sufficient the text to read just Bratislava with the proper link to the region set, a bit more typing, though. It doesn't have to be so, of course, it just looks better that way, for me …

Finally, there's an "semi-automated" tool which can convert any Geobox in the version 1 to the version 2 which reparses and reformats their fields. As I've suggested to User:Tankred it can be upadted to enable conversion from the Slovak template too if there's any interest in this. – Caroig (talk) 20:39, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, just a short notice about the new Geoboxes for settlements. It's preferable to call the template as {{Geobox|Settlement and set the settlement type (City, Town, Village etc.) in the category field. The first parameter, Settlement, adjust the display or names of some fields in the output, e.g. it sets the symbol_type = Coat of arms thus you don't have to add this field manually. The support for calling the template with City, Town etc,. has been added for ease of use. It would be of course possible to make all parameters change the symbol_type (and other fields) but it would make the code unnecessary long.

I'm improving the conversion tool, it will be able to fully convert the Slovak Infobox to the Geobox 2. I just don't have much time now and I'm leaving for some Slovak mountains tomorrow so it'll be ready sometime next week. – Caroig (talk) 14:19, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

I think if nobody objects to a settlement being described as a city it's OK. I guess the Czech limit is 100,000. Anyway, it's probably not only about the size but importance as well … Dunno yet, I kind of fell in love with the Greater Fatra and I always like returning there and see places I've already visited in other seasons as well. Bratislava - Pressburg again

Hello!

After some talk with an administrator (Voyager), we came to the conclusion that it is not necessary to address the name issue in the introduction. Instead, he suggested it would be better to set the alternative names in Brackets like it's the case in the articles of many other cities like praha, ceske budejovice etc. and drop the fourth paragraph alltogether.

In Germany and especially in Austria, Bratislava is still called Pressburg by many, many people, and I do not think that anyone in Hungary uses another name than Pozsony. I think that the old "note" was (and is) also very misleading, as it suggests the reader to believe that Pressburg and even Pozsony is no longer in use at all, which is absolutely not true (and Wikipedia should reflect the thruth in my opinion). It's the other way round: Even a member of the City of Bratislava used "Pressburg" in German when holding a very promising speech about the future of the centrope region and the relations between Bratislava and Vienna.

Just a side note: Would you like to say you go to "Wien" when you mean you go to Viedeň?

i am really sorry, I have allready changed it O.O' . I thought you were d'accord with me. I, by the way, totally agree with you that nationalism a really destrucive element. How much culture is lost forever because of nationalists....

In the past, Bratislava was a multicultural city, until the habsburg monarchy was torn apart and czechoslovak nationalists felt that the city had to be renamed. I think it is a good thing that many people of today still use the old name as this reflects the charakter of the city better. Futurologists once said that Vienna and Bratislava will eventually become one city in the future, maybe it then will be called Wieslava in both languages (Sounds slovak, doesn't it?) ;) But until then, i think that we should view both names for both cities as equal to promote the similarities and not the (there are not much, if any besides the language...) differences!

About your concern: I think that Bratislava, Pressburg and Pozsony are the most important names for the city, i do not fear that there will be added many more names in other languages. The doesn't happen in articles of other cities either.

Though I still think the current version is better, I see I don't have much of a choice - I could wage an edit war with you or accept a compromise. And unfortunately my German is still poor so I don't know if I could persuade Voyager to change his mind. As I would most likely embarass myself when I'd do the former option, I have to accept (though bit unwillingly), so the only thing we want to be on lookout is what I've mentioned - excessive names or what I call "names vandalism" - that is, partial or complete replacement. Names in Trenčín article

Hi, I've used the format I've seen in other articles (e.g. Vienna) for it gives you a chance to see more foreign names. The German and Hungarian names may be historically important, but currently, when more than 90% of population is Slovak and this is English encyclopaedia, they probably do not belong anywhere else except for the history section if there.--Svetovid (talk) 09:13, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

As you wish, but I don't know if it's going to be usable for long (excluding bilingual areas) for two reasons: 1. There are only few Slovak towns there at this time... 2. There'll be always someone who may insert them back any time, and it's not worth being blocked from something like that. Climate tables

Hi Mark, thank you for adding climate tables to the articles about Slovak cities. Although the tables themselves look cool, there is a little problem with the layout. Introduction of the climate tables creates a large chunk of blank space in MSIE and Opera because these tables are placed after the end of a long geobox. In Firefox, a part of the table is not visible because it is hidden behind a geobox. The only solution I know would be to expand articles, so the whole climate section would be placed after the end of a geobox (see Banska Bystrica). Since his solution is not very likely to be achieved, I wonder if you know how to change the size of a weather infobox. Or do you have any other idea how to fix the layout? Thanks. The Firefox problem can be resolved by putting {{-}} before the weather infobox template. It still creates a chunk of blank space, but at least both the geobox and the weather infobox are visible. See my edit of Trencin. Tankred (talk) 21:25, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Finally, the best solution turned out to be the simplest one: If we put the history section before the geography (and climate) section, the problem with tables disappears. This sequence also seems to be recommended by the WP:CITIES guidelines. Tankred (talk) 16:02, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Košice

I think you have done a lot of good work on Košice. The article looks much better than it used to. But there is still much to do before the article can be submitted for a GA review. My two cents: The list of sacral buildings should be rewritten in prose and integrated in the main Sights section. Some of the sub-sections in Culture are far too stubby. I think there are some important thing in Kassa's history which they are not in this article.
There was the first Hungarian peridocal called Magyar Museum in the whole uhorsko in the 18th century. This city was the most important center of the Hungarian culture and the Hunngarian language innovation movement.
Besides the Czechoslovak Legions killed Hungarian and German people on 15 March 1919 because they protested against of the Czechoslovak occupation.

On top of there is in the article:East Slovak Ironworks caused population the city were built. and the construction and expansion of the East Slovak Ironworks caused population growth from population of 60,700 in 1950 to 235,000 in 1991 and in the end it was the fifth largest city in Czechoslovakia. You know that most of the articles dealing with the Kingdom of Hungary are to some extent Slovakia-related, so I don't know if that question is serious. If I remember well I reached (at least a temporary) concensus at the Ányos Jedlik page right after WizzardSK presented one English language source. Both Slovak users involved thanked me too on the talk page. You can see the edits since: some don't agree and I can't promise this is the final version. Some of the Slovak sources seemed unreliable (for example the page of a nuclear power plant), so I asked for at least one English source.
At the Hedvig Malina page you can see Svetovid is deleting a number of sources he doesn't like, then puts a refimprove tag on the article in the very same edit, argues to keep a blog in the article as a reliable reference etc. He mixes some copyediting with deleting important information and if you have enough of analyzing his edit again and again and simply revert it, he calls you a vandal. Another thing is: why have you deleted all but German foreign names from Hungarian articles like Gyor or Pécs, without leaving link to Names of European cities in different languages, while at the same time you reverted Svetovid's changes to Trenčín, when he at least left that link? No knowledge doesn't excuse, as I would say. Half million is, but mostly in the south. Seeking a translator

Hi. It may be too late, but there is an article up for deletion, Lobby (Eurodance band), at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lobby (Eurodance band), as unverifiable. I have found one presumably Slovakian secondary source, here. I wonder if it would possible for you to read through that source just to see whether or not the band up for deletion meets the WP:MUSIC guidelines. There is a chance the debate will close and the article be deleted before you or somebody else would be able to do so, but there is some concern that the article may be meeting systemic bias since editors at the AfD cannot find Slovakian sources, and I would very much like to know that we've given it a fair shot. I'm watchlisting your page. Please let me know whether or not you can help. Hi there. I'm afraid I won't help much for saving the article, even though I know Slovak. I've read that article and most likely it isn't quite up to the criteria. It says it produced five albums (although here for example I see only four), and had a tour in Mexico, but in 2001 it had broken up. A former member has also said that Slovak radios stopped playing any dance music at the time of break-up and that they were several times nominated for various awards, but they have won none of them. Mostly Hungarians (although it sounds unbelievable). Unfortunately it's a reality - from what I know these conflicts have been dragging on for years, sometimes more, sometimes less intense. Of course it isn't widespread in the sense of all areas, but it can be a nuisance. But still, this doesn't stop the general improvement - Bratislava is an FA now, Banská Bystrica and Gerlachovský štít are GAs, and others were improved (but I think some could go into GAs soon). Not constantly; as said, however, it can be a nuisance keeping them at bay. So you see - I primarily write about towns (now not so much about transport, but sometimes I do), but I'm also interested in geography in general, and a bit of history and biographies. I added two references. — As to the other issue, there seems to be reasonable interest in some of the more specific topics that may look unlikely at first sight if the context is right, e.g., the recent interest in Burger (100-200/day), the "lucky strike" with AFK that you started (a steady stream of 10-20 since two points turned up that could be meaningfully cross-listed in a couple of frequented places), quite a few of the geo pages that don't automatically seem "major" topics (BB 100-150; Poprad 50-60; Gerlach 50-90), the anthem (40/day for months) etc. Most ultrabroad topics like "the history / society / culture / nature... of X" look like hack jobs − written and rewritten by too many, contested, unmanageable. ilmari (talk) 05:19, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I think I have rubbed my nerves enough and my patience is over at both of the fronts (that means also with community which I think hasn't done anything). Though I won't disappear completely, this one may be short as few days, or long as one or two months. As such, I've explained my reasons in the red boxes to tell what are the reasons and basically I'm unhappy with the way Wikipedia is going.
