Not a forum--Christopher Columbus

Hi, I don't know if you saw my comment under yours on Talk:Christorpher Columbus, but the information you're adding there is not appropriate. Per WP:NOTFORUM, talk pages of articles are not a place to discuss the subject of the article itself. That is, you cannot use that talk page to debate the evidence for or against various historical aspects of Columbus, nor may you use it to evaluate the academic quality of various theories. Instead, its only use is to discuss changes to the article itself. This page in particular has a history of problems on this issue, and, as such, we tend to take it very seriously. Continuing to soapbox about different Columbus theories is a form of disruptive editing, and is not allowed. If you have something specific that you think should be added or changed in the article, feel free to discuss that, but you may not use this as a cite for academic debate. Clarification based on the last sentence of your last post: you are correct that debate is important in social sciences. You are incorrect in thinking that that has anything to do with Wikipedia, because we aren't doing social science here. All we are doing is reporting what other social scientists have already said; we explain reliable sources have said, and make sure that our article represents the real world arguments in approximate weight to how much those beliefs are held in the real world.
