RE: Islam in Kazakhstan[edit]

Thank you for the message you left on my talk page [1]. As per Wikipedia's officially policy on verifiability, we can only quote a source, not interpret it. Multiplying the population figure listed by one source with the percentage of Muslims listed by another source is original research, which cannot be used on Wikipedia.

However, in looking at the Demographics of Kazakhstan article you pointed me to, I saw that much of the demographic information was sourced and cited to the CIA World Factbook. As such, I added that source's religion statistic ("Muslim 47%") to the List of countries by Muslim population article in the "other sources" column [2]. — Kralizec! You stated it was "clear to me" but the mantra for Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth, and we cannot interpret the data ourselves. Additionally this addition is not permitted because articles cannot reference other articles. — Kralizec! (talk) 13:52, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
