Hi Mishae, thanks for the warm welcome! Although it's not my first time here (and for sure not my last) I guess it was the intensity of my yesterdays corrections that attracted attention didn't it. Great place the english Wiki and every once in a while I'll come around and see if I could contribute to the benefit of this incredible platform. Since I run an own Wiki my time will be limited, yet I'd like to make my humble share of knowledge whereever possible. Again thank you and I'm looking foward to the next steps. Help me! Concerning SIGNATURES in the Infoboxes: What is an svg-file and how / where could I upload a signature?[edit]

Please help me with a question concerning SIGNATURES ...

Hi all, I need some help for refining my latest article and would appreciate any hint on the following question: In the Infoboxes there is space/ a line for a signature, and in some infoboxes I saw a "xxx.SVG" signature included. Since I wrote a biography about a person and do have the signature as a jpg-file my QUESTION is: What is a svg-file? And how and where would I upload a signature in order to include it in the article? Thanks for any hint! Matchtime (talk) 11:19, 14 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

.svg files are scalable vector graphics files; it's a type of image file that scales particularly well. If you already have the signature as a .jpg, however, there's no need to convert it. You can upload the signature to the Wikimedia Commons via their Upload Wizard. If we're talking about James Melvin Rhodes, the correct licensing tag for the uploaded image would be {{PD-signature|USA}} - otherwise you'll have to adapt the country of origin accordingly.
