Eurovision Song Contest 2012[edit]

Please do not add unsourced content to Eurovision Song Contest 2012 - all confirmed participants must have a source. Please review the verifiability policy and ensure you are familiar with it. Also, you appear to overusing the minor edit checkbox, please see Help:Minor edit for what qualifies as a minor edit e.g. adding content is normally not a minor edit. The article List of Miss Supranational continental queen of beauty winners has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable competition. No independent refs. Very few notable competitors.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello, I'm MadGuy7023. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Strictly Come Dancing (series 10), but you didn't provide a reliable source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. MadGuy7023 (talk) 19:43, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re-addition of France and Spain as confirmed[edit]

There has been a discussion on Talk:Eurovision Song Contest 2013 about France and Spain and current consensus is that they are not confirmed participants. There are several reasons for this, the two major ones being that the sources don't clearly say they are confirmed and are all old and so were likely written before any confirmation occurred. There isn't a race to confirm countries, and it is better to be cautious and wait. However, you are welcome to express your views if you wish, although please do not re-add these countries as confirmed unless consensus changes. CT Cooper · talk 16:52, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Use of cite web[edit]

Thank you for citing your sources. However, please note that when using {{cite web}} the title= field must be specified, or the template won't work properly. Hi Matheo,

You recently added a source confirming Montenegro for Eurovision 2014. The source belongs to a website ESCUnited.com. Unfortunately we're not allowed to use that website, as a member of Project Eurovision is also an editor for that website. To avoid potential self-publishing and conflict of interest between that editor's work on the website, and the content on Eurovision articles here, we're now avoiding the usage of ESCUnited as a source. I hope you understand this reason. Wesley Mᴥuse 20:17, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Editing concerns[edit]

Matheo, you recently made a couple of edits on Eurovision Song Contest 2016 that I would like to raise a few concerns about, as they did not comply with Wikipedia guidelines.

  1. Edit 1 in which you changed the citation, was not necessary. This is because both of the sources were stating the same information. Therefore, the original citation has been restored.
  2. This edit is prohibited, per WP:CRYSTAL. Also WikiProject Eurovision agreed by consensus not to use any heading titles that gave the impression of speculative meaning, such as "most likely" or "possible". Therefore again, this edit has been removed.

I would strongly advise you to become familiar with Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision/Format and Guides, check discussions taking place at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision (and its archives) that may have effect on editing changes, and also check the project objectives at Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision that show guidance on editing styles. This is so that you can avoid stumbling into similar errors in the future. Wes Mouse  13:13, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. OGAE 2016 poll[edit]

Why do you not take into account the two clubs that have abstained from voting, like you did in this edit. There is even a hidden notice that states that we must take into account those 2 when updating the total number of countries that have voted so far. Therefore, as there are 3 clubs yet to vote, then the total figure would be 43 out of 45, and not 40. Wes Mouse  13:56, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mass-changes to ciations[edit]

I'm rather confused as to why you changed a whole load of citation from Eurovoix to ESCToday on the article Eurovision Song Contest 2017 (see this edit). Personal preferences towards a particular website should be avoided, as it makes it potentially appear to users that an editor is connected to the website, which can be a blocking offence if conflict of interest is proven. When we add sources to an article we need to use a wide variety, and if possible, the website which publishes the news first - which in this case Eurovoix had published before ESCToday.

I have reverted your actions, but please bear this in mind for future editing. Thanks. Wes Mouse  15:31, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Matheo, once again you are changing citations from one website to another. Please refrain from doing this as it is disruptive. This kind of edit is highly unacceptable, and if continued could face you with a blocking sanction for disruptive editing. When we use citations, we MUST ALWAYS use the website that published the news first. In this circumstance, Eurovoix announced in May 2016 about Andorra. The fact that ESCToday were 3 months late in finding out the information is not of our concern. It is the website that publishes FIRST that we take into account. Please take this as a final notice. Next time a more formal warning will be issued to you. Wes Mouse  18:39, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oh and if you could be so kind as to acknowledge what I have said, then it would be appreciated. Thanks, Wes Mouse  18:39, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Eurovision: Important Announcement[edit]

WikiProject Eurovision
Important Announcement

Dear Project Member

Following a project community discussion, which was raised over the use of English translation columns on annual contest articles, and advice from the lead coordinator of The Guild of Copy Editors, who are extremely knowledgeable in regards to all editing practises and manual of style policies. A consensus decision has been reached to fully remove ALL English translations, as such content falls under the prohibition on original research, even if it seems helpful to the reader. This is because we have now to assume that every reader has access to automated translation tools that can always give them a sense of the meaning of the title in their native language; it is not Wikipedia's job to provide those tools for the reader. Which therefore means we are no longer to include an English translation column, nor are we to provide translation by any other means on contest articles.

Such information is currently in the process of being removed, and a new table formatting and layout style is being rolled out across all articles. Please view the new guidance on table layout at Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision/Format and Guides#Article layout. An example of the new table layout style can also be access via the collapsed section within this message. Thank you.

October 2016[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Wesley Mouse. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Eurovision Song Contest 2017 without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. You should never alter or remove citations without providing a valid reason. Even changing sources from one website to your personal favourite should be avoided, as it may be seen as paid editing or conflict of interest. Wes Mouse Talk 15:48, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • You were warned about this matter in August, and acknowledged that you would not disruptively alter sources to your preferable sources from esctoday. If you do this kind of action again, then you will be blocked from editing. Wes Mouse Talk 15:54, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect author attribution for citations[edit]

Matheo, I am concerned as to why you gave attribution to citations like these - 01, and 02 - to the wrong author? Both sources were written by Anthony Granger, yet you state that Emily Herbert was the author. Please be extra careful when inputting data on citations, as we must give 100% accurate attribution. To view other examples, please re-familiarise yourself with Template:Escyr#Examples. Thanks, Wes Wolf Talk 11:29, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
