Welcome![edit]

Hello, Maxygaga, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Help request[edit]

Editing Wikipedia Articles Biographies

Hi Maxygaga, I saw your help request on my talk page. The box you're talking about is called an "infobox" and it is a kind of template. There are several kinds of infoboxes for people, but the most basic one is just "infobox person". To insert "infobox person" into an article, follow these steps:

  1. Go into edit mode
  2. Put your cursor at the very top of the article
  3. Click "insert" on the top toolbar
  4. Click "template" on the dropdown menu
  5. Type "infobox person"
  6. Start filling out fields! You'll want to click "add more fields" to show all the available options (there are more than 90).

You can also try a more specific infobox. Based on your sandbox, you may want to use "infobox artist" instead. You don't have to fill out all the infobox fields. In fact, you should only add information to fields if you have information in a reliable source that supports that information. For more information about editing biographies, please see the attached handout (click to enlarge). Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:12, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Response[edit]

Hi! I wanted to give you a response on your talk page. It looks like your work was only in your sandbox and you've since moved it live. I do have some notes, mainly that your sources aren't in-line, so it's difficult to tell what is meant to source what. This could also use more citations - you have some, but it would be good to have more in places like academic and scholarly sources. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:58, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I Didn't mean to move it to Live I am far from Done, How do I Move it back to my Sand Box to work on it?? (Maxygaga (talk) 20:09, 19 February 2020 (UTC))[reply]

Maxygaga, I have moved it back and you can find it here User:Maxygaga/Judas Ullulaq or by clicking the sandbox link at the top of the page. Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:27, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Properly adding citations[edit]

Hi Maxygaga, I noticed you aren't adding citations the recommended way. Please review the training for adding citations so you can ensure the content you write is verifiable. Thanks! Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:26, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I put citations in and would like to know how to make my page live, since it is due tomorrow for my class, Thank you (Maxygaga (talk) 23:46, 2 March 2020 (UTC))[reply]

Notes[edit]

Hi! I have some notes:

  • Be very careful to avoid unattributed point of view statements. We need to make sure that it doesn't come across like we're making the claims ourselves. This also goes for statements such as "it is not surprising..." because this is seen as an opinion and as such, someone could argue the opposite as opinions can be subjective to the reader.
  • Wikipedia's style guidelines require us to use the person's last name whenever we refer to them, unless they're known under a stage name or the article is about a group of people with the same last name.

I've done some cleanup on the article, but wanted to leave you these notes as to why. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:51, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
