Norman McGuire[edit]

Hello, Mcguiresys. You have new messages at Gnfnrf's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

The recent edit you made to Norman McGuire constitutes vandalism, and has been reverted. Please do not continue to vandalize pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. Cmichael (talk) 06:22, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ginger. I'm sorry I used the term "vandalism." After reading your comments here and elsewhere, I see that you meant no harm,and I apologize if I've offended you. However, I was correct to revert your edits, because you deleted an AfD tag. What that means is that someone else had marked the article for possible deletion, and it isn't cricket for you, as the article's creator, to delete that information. You are, of course, quite free to edit information below the "<!-- End of AfD message, feel free to edit beyond this point -->" line, but should leave that above the line intact.
I realize that our methods and procedures seem quite odd at first, but there is a method to our madness. We are an encyclopedia, not a promotional site. Please do read up on these:
Welcome to Wikipedia, and we hope you will soon feel at home here. Cmichael (talk) 07:41, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 07:19, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I notice that you've left a comment on my talk page. The concern that several users have with the article is notability. It is probably best that you don't continue to add actors to wikipedia. Also, please note that there are copyright issues with the image that you've uploaded. Here's the discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Norman McGuire - Richard Cavell (talk) 08:08, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unacceptable behahior[edit]

Edits involving blatant personal attacks and incivility, such as this one[1], are completely unacceptable and if continued will lead to your account being blocked. Nsk92 (talk) 18:21, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article Norman McGuire has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no reliable references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. noq (talk) 18:12, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Mcguiresys. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Norman McGuire, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. noq (talk) 18:39, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Norman McGuire.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Norman McGuire.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. nyuszika7h (talk) 20:00, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:FEWL-WIKI.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:FEWL-WIKI.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 08:05, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to The Lucky Man (2016). While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Hello. A tag has been placed on File:Norman McGuire, DIrector.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
