Discussion

Hi, MelanieN, do you mind commenting on your thoughts about a potential name change to Kevin McCarthy (California politician). The discussion and the proposal is in the the talk page. Thank you. BigRed606 (talk) 16:11, 5 October 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll take a look at it. -- MelanieN (talk) 18:11, 5 October 2021 (UTC)

Her Censorship 10/6, 10/7

Continues to censor an entry on AOC's talk page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.58.191.94 (talk) 21:46, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

So stop proposing it. There does not appear to be any support for adding a lengthy and non-neutral exposition about one vote on one issue, primarily your opinion, loosely based on one news article and one blog piece. At this point your post has been reverted three times by three different people. -- MelanieN (talk) 03:53, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for expanding this, but you forgot to WP:DYK it in February. Missed opportunity... For the future, I recommend this easy script: User:SD0001/DYK-helper Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:19, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Piotr, and thanks for the thought. Actually my little expansion in February (slightly more than twofold) was not enough to take it to DKY. To be eligible for DYK I would have had to expand it five-fold. However, you could have DYK'ed it when you created the article back in March 2020. Oops, I forgot that what counts is "readable prose size" - not just number of bytes. Guess I could have nominated it then, after all. -- MelanieN (talk) 14:50, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

Kevin McCarthy Request to move

I totally agree with you that we should make it a formal/official RM. I was thinking myself today how to get more people. I will try and figure out, using the guide your provided me to do so. BigRed606 (talk) 19:43, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

Update I believe I made the correct changes do you mind if you can check and make sure I did everything correctly. Sorry I don’t do moves that often. BigRed606 (talk) 19:53, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

Good try, but we need to request BOTH moves: McCarthy (California politician) to McCarthy, and McCarthy to McCarthy (DAB). I redid it, hope it's correct this time. (I don't do that many RMs either.) -- MelanieN (talk) 20:33, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

You should describe the changes you want at the article's talk page, Talk:I-League 2nd Division. That is the place to work out your differences. -- MelanieN (talk) 23:19, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

Border, San Diego

Hi Melanie - do you have any thoughts about the redirect for discussion at Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2021_October_10#Border,_San_Diego? It was a neighborhood stub I created many years ago. Someone changed it to a redirect like six years ago (I didn't notice), and now it's up for deletion. It's a minor neighborhood, to be sure, but it does appear on the SDPD neighborhood map. Thoughts? Dohn joe (talk) 02:27, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi, Dohn joe, and thanks for the note. I have to agree with deleting this. I see that back in 2011 I accepted it and even added a reference. But I now feel like this is not a real neighborhood and never was, and doesn't deserve even redirect status. Sorry about that. -- MelanieN (talk) 14:41, 16 October 2021 (UTC) P.S. I see that you haven't commented at that discussion yourself. You do know that you are perfectly entitled to make a comment; there is no rule against the original author expressing an opinion. -- MelanieN (talk) 14:50, 16 October 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, Melanie - I think that's all about right. Six years as a redirect with no one noticing is a pretty strong argument! Dohn joe (talk) 19:45, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

Trump RFC

Hello! You stated in the closure that A separate discussion about the wording resulted in consensus to say "Scholars and historians generally rank Trump as one of the worst presidents in U.S. history.", but I'm pretty sure the consensus was just to say "Scholars and historians rank Trump as one of the worst presidents in U.S. history." Can you amend the closure to reflect that? Thanks for your help on this, by the way. Cpotisch (talk) 03:57, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

You are right. Most people supported B, without the word generally. I will fix it. -- MelanieN (talk) 04:20, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

I-League vandalism

sentence "...and official second tier football league in Indian football league system ." Needs to be fixed, "second" moved (open system link) and grammar space corrected — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.1.207.155 (talk) 06:42, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

You should make this request at Talk:I-League. That is where article content is discussed and decided. I have no role in the content of this article. -- MelanieN (talk) 14:45, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

Truth is several indian users ignore on purpose to support who knows why and which kind of mess so page should be unlocked soon and bans given instead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.1.207.155 (talk) 17:39, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

As I said, I have nothing to do with the content of that article, and I have no way of knowing what it should say. Farshid asadian

Hello dear, Some time ago, I do not remember exactly, i created a article about farshid asadian one of iranian wushu player, he had won two bronze of youth world championships and 3 bronze medal of junior asian championships. depent on his medals, it seems he is notable, but after few time, other users, deleted his article, what do idea about that? P@yam (talk) 22:28, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello, P@yam, and thanks for the note. The problem with the article about Farshid Asadian is that his medals were all in junior or youth events. To be notable, he would have to win at the adult, professional level. So the article was deleted by a discussion, and then deleted three other times, because he was still not notable. Now the article has been protected, or "locked", so that it can't be created any more. I'm sorry, since I know you believe he is notable, but the subject has to meet our criteria. I'm sure there are many other sports figures you can write about. -- MelanieN (talk) 01:16, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello @MelanieN: , thanks for your response. As mather of fact, i am in wikipedia just for servicing to people, i like to write about those artists or atheletes that (they have worked hardly) , so i am here, til write about my fivorite titles without money and every financial subjects. Also, before, i wrote a article about one of iranian body builder(Big Mori) - (also, he is iranian famous Rapper) in my opinion, he is notable.but respect users deleted it, and slander to me, that i got money for write it. Please review Big Mori. P@yam (talk) 13:33, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

The article was deleted because he is not notable. He has participated in bodybuilding tournaments and won a few bronze and silver medals, but not big international tournaments and never the first prize. He records music, but none of it has been reviewed by outside sources. The other problem is that the article did not have any WP:Reliable Sources. There were dozens and dozens of sources, but none of them were what Wikipedia considers to be reliable. We can only use mainstream, preferably published sources "with editorial oversight" and "a reputation for fact checking and accuracy". At this page you can get an idea of the kind of sources that we need. -- MelanieN (talk) 20:13, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
