A tag has been placed on Adam Mintz requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. Hello Melgomac. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about following the reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.

Posting to my talk page as you have done is one way. You can also edit the subsection of your request and post a reply there (locate the section of your previous question and hit the [edit] button next to it). I actually prefer that you reply in my talk page though, as it ensures that I can read your replies. I don't check the Requests for Feedback page that often.

Formatting references using inline citations
All information in Wikipedia articles should be verified by citations to reliable sources. Our preferred method of citation is using the "cite.php" form of inline citations, using the <ref></ref> elements. Using this method, each time a particular source is mined for information (don't copy word-for-word!), a footnote is placed in the text ("inline"), that takes one to the detail of the source when clicked, set forth in a references section after the text of the article.

In brief, anywhere you want a footnote to appear in a piece of text, you place an opening <ref> tag followed by the text of the citation which you want to appear at the bottom of the article, and close with a </ref> tag. Note the closing slash ("/"). For multiple use of a single reference, the opening ref tag is given a name, like so: <ref name="name"> followed by the citation text and a closing </ref> tag. Each time you want to use that footnote again, you simply use the first element with a slash, like so: <ref name="name" />.

In order for these references to appear, you must tell the software where to display them, using either the code </references> or, most commonly, the template, {{Reflist}} which can be modified to display the references in 2 or 3 columns using {{Reflist|2}} or {{Reflist|3}}. Per our style guidelines, the references should be displayed in a separate section denominated "References" located after the body of the article.

Jay Rabinowitz and the like[edit]

Greetings. Your recent edits came across my watchlist. Your contributions to Jay Rabinowitz and Rabinowitz Courthouse, unfortunately, created some issues.

  • Rabinowitz Courthouse did not need to be created as a standalone article, especially since you failed to include any meaningful content in the article body which might demonstrate its need. Your response on Talk:Rabinowitz Courthouse referred entirely to Jay Rabinowitz, rather than to the courthouse. I applied a Merge to template to Jay Rabinowitz, since the entirety of the courthouse article can be accommodated just fine in the Rabinowitz article without creating undue weight.
  • As for the Rabinowitz article itself, I counted three separate edits you contributed to the article body, plus seven external links, as having nothing to do with Jay Rabinowitz.

Usually, when I see this happening, it breaks down to one of two scenarios: an editor who looks at Wikipedia as being some sort of dumping ground for a genealogy project; or an editor who is really writing another article and is intent on filling every remotely related article with gratuitous references to same.

If you're promoting Seth Rabinowitz, that's fine. We'll see if it passes muster. However, what you're doing right now is turning an article about Jay Rabinowitz into an article about Seth Rabinowitz. It would only be due to apathy and/or lethargy that I'm the only one to point this out to you. It appears that you, in addition to everyone else out there, failed to notice that an article on Judy Rabinowitz has existed for over four years, floating alongside Jay's article as islands, with no effort made on anyone's part to establish relation between father and daughter.RadioKAOS (talk) 23:16, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I pledge to you that I'm not promoting anyone nor do I have an agenda, nor is it a muse to create what you've referred to as a sort of genealogy project. Do you always assume good faith, per guidelines? That's just a yes or no question, I think.
