Conflict of interest policy[edit]

Hello, Merockys. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you should consider our guidance on Conflicts of interest and take a look at the Plain and simple conflict of interest guide.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. --Ronz (talk) 16:56, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Trying to clarify further the issues for BLNP[edit]

The conflict of interest notice above is for other editors as much as for you. You're doing a good job of just discussing the issues, and it's commendable.

So, you previously indicated that you could provide a birth certificate. Unfortunately, the discussion at BLPN has been taken far off track. Are you still willing to provide a copy? I'd to try to get the issue resolved at BLPN.

Secondly, what is the date on her passport?

Finally, there is absolutely no reason the article should have any information in it at all that's not properly verified by reliable sources. If you don't agree, then we need to make sure this is clarified at BLNP as well. --Ronz (talk) 16:56, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes her DOB is same on passport and birth certificate. I can provide the copy on private email the birth certificate. Do let me know if thats needed.--Merockys (talk) 21:41, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much. Let's see what others think at BLPN. --Ronz (talk) 18:29, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

From the new comments at BLNP, it doesn't look like it's worth pursuing further, but if you still want to try, I'll help.

At this point, we're stuck. You comment about needing accurate information [1], but there doesn't seem to be any available that would meet Wikipedia's policies/guidelines.

In the two examples I gave, Rebecca De Mornay and Lydia Cornell, the disputes were ultimately resolved by finding public records (in both cases birth records accessible online) in combination with secondary sources that verified the information on those records. Given that Malik is on record saying she was born in 1984 and 1987, it's going to take some especially good sources to convince editors that any date is accurate. --Ronz (talk) 16:20, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am unsure about the earlier article on TOI about 1984 as it was definitely wrongly quoted and i believe the media guy was as confused as we are today. This also happened once with MIRROR where she clarified that they got her age wrong by a decade and they thought the controversy(FHM) added a decade to her age! you can easily understand being an actor/girl why would she say that that this has added 10 years to her age!! --Merockys (talk) 19:59, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Veena Malik[edit]

Please feel free to edit other parts of this article, but adding a birth year of 1987 is clearly non-credible and has no reliable sources. Thanks, 00:47, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

Then what is credible if these articles are not. I have explained the details on talk page.

Merockys (talk) 01:02, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This has already been explained to you at BLPN and on the article talk page. Clearly her current management is trying to spin a new birth date. Ironically, one of the sources you provide above didn't get it right. --Ronz (talk) 16:50, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Right, firstly we don't have that much clout to get the PTI etc including top print media to get them print what we want. If we did we would have had it from start. Secondly when they interview her and see her they can approximately guess her age and many of them need her credentials etc. as they arrange the complete tour. So if one gets its 26 and other 25 does that mean a large difference and do you think we would be stupid enough to get this wrong if it was planned. I leave it now, you guys do what you want. I was sincerely trying to get things right now and rather concentrate on improving the page content.Merockys (talk) 17:43, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Prashant Pratap Singh requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Re: Req for un-deletion of page[edit]

Re your message: I think I am going to decline your request to restore the page as I have concerns about the way the article was written when it was deleted. The notability of him outside of his connection Veena Malik was weakly stated and vague. The sentence connecting him to Veena Malik was also vague and reads like a tabloid article. From your edit history, it appears that you do not edit on a consistent basis and I am concerned about leaving the article as written and you not correcting the issues in a timely manner. You are welcome to rewrite the article, but I strongly recommend that you avoid any tabloid phrasing and try to establish his notability outside any connection to Veena Malik. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:45, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
