Units[edit]

Please don't change units as done at Thundersnow and Exmoor Zoo. For one thing, the style of an article should not be changed—imagine how it would work out if every week someone changed an article from using "color" to "colour", while someone else changed it in the reverse direction. That applies to units as well. Another factor for units is that reliable sources should be used to verify statements, and it is helpful if the units in the article match the source. It is not reasonable for editors to check that your conversions are accurate. At any rate, {{convert}} can be used to convert units, and |order=flip can be used to change the order in which the units appear. Johnuniq (talk) 22:16, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Notice[edit]

Please read this notification carefully:
A community discussion has authorised the use of general sanctions to curtail disruption related to systems of measurement in the United Kingdom. Before continuing to make edits that involve units or systems of measurement in United Kingdom-related contexts, please read the full description of these sanctions here.

General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

I mentioned you at WT:DATE#Are metric units compulsory when describing events from 18th/19th century Australia?. It's not important but you might like to look. Johnuniq (talk) 22:35, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
