- Thank you for your message. The history of the Romanian Orthodox Church begans at 1872. Similary the one of the Church of Greece begans 1850. The informations which I correct were not exact. I don´t undersand why do you presume that the informations which I amend werde right. "In 1698 in Transylvania, a part of the Romanian Orthodox Church"... 1698 didn't exist a "Romanian Orthodox Church" because it was founded 170 years later. Or do you presume that the ROC is older than the greek one??? The content of the article is now (after your revert) pure romanian orthodox propaganda. Thank you for supporting/objecting/tropicanising me in my request for Adminship. Although I wasn't promoted to admin status, with a final vote count of 14/27/12, I am very happy with the response I received from my fellow Wikipedians. Welcome to Esperanza!
Welcome, Mets501, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of JoanneB, Freakofnurture and Titoxd. The next set of elections will be in June, and you are more than welcome to take part, by voting or by listing yourself as a candidate.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Hi I saw that you deleted my data tabel on K2MnO4 from the Manganate report. Rather than discarding the data, it is probably preferrable to create an article on K2MnO4 and then divvy up the content. References necessary for number articles
In answer to your question in an edit summary for 666, references ARE necessary for number articles. Although you don't need a reference to say something like 36 = 6^2 that anyone can verify with a calculator or even by hand, you do need references for things that are disputed and/or harder to verify. Is the apocalyptical number 616 or 666? Answering that question requires knowledge of some ancient texts, languages like Greek and Aramaic, early church history, etc. In short, the sort of things that a calculator can't give you the answer to. VandalProof 1.2 Now Available
After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. Your AWB edit -- Gaudiya Math
Somewhere in Gaudiya Math you edited the word "maths" to "mathematics". You probably thought the word maths in that context referred to the British usage of the word meaning mathematics. A math or matha is actually like a temple or an ashram. I believe it may either have a Bengali origin, or perhaps it's India wide. Should you ever see the word "maths" or mathas in an article pertaining to something in the realm of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, you may want to verify the context of the word before editing the word to "mathematics". I already corrected it, so no harm :) And I do realize it's a very obscure usage. I hope you enjoy your trip -- Siyavash 18:35, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Please be aware that there are other, entirely legitimate uses of the word yahoo that are completely unrelated to the search engine, such as the usage in Joe Sacco. Dvorak Simplified Keyboard
I sincerely thank you for cleaning up my edits to "Dvorak Simplified Keyboard".
While I take issue with the user who argues that the QWERTY layout was not designed to slow the rate of typing, my primary purpose was to help generate awareness of the classic Dvorak layout.
I have collected a few dozen articles and manufacturer advertisements on the Dvorak layout, some of which originated with organizations which now are defunct. Perhaps you would be interested in a brief sampling of the material:
A "Dvorak Keyboard -- Fact Sheet" distributed by Dvorak International Federation, Brandon, Vermont, declares regarding the QWERTY layout, "Its design was intended to slow down typists so keys would not jam on the crude early machines." In the same article is the statement, "Directory assistance operators (555-1212) in most major cities use Dvorak keyboards."
In the January 24, 1984 issue of PC Magazine is an article, "Qwerty's Ignoble Birth", in which the author unequivocally takes the position that the QWERTY layout was designed to handicap the typist and thus slow the rate of typing.
An article by Robert Schadewald in the December/January 1983 issue of Technology Illustrated titled "The Literary Piano" describes the "type-writer" (as it first was called) of Sholes and Glidden, which was marketed as the "Remington Model 1". The article states: "The Sholes and Glidden Type-Writer had no original features, its principal designer [Christopher Latham Sholes, a customs collector for the Port of Milwaukee and a former printer] considered it a failure, and Remington [Remington Firearms Company] had to be paid to produce it. But as the first typewriter marketed on a large scale, it made people conscious of typewriting, and it suggested that great financial rewards awaited the inventor of a better machine." The same article describes the key jamming problem; it states: "The striking action was sluggish, and the keys jammed if one hadn't recoiled before the next was hit. To minimize this problem, Sholes arranged the circle of typebars so that the letters commonly used in succession were as far apart as possible, and this partially dictated the inefficient "qwerty" keyboard layout that (unfortunately) we still use today."
An article, "An incredible legacy", in the May 24, 1979 issue of Electronic Design, states: "In his original Type-Writing Machine of 1872, Sholes relied on gravity alone to return the embossed letter-blanks to their home positions. The keys were suspended in a circular nest of wires beneath the platten, and too fast an operating speed invariable caused them to jam up. To solve the problem, a colleague asked his son-in-law, a Pennsylvania school superintendent, to isolate the most-often-used letter combinations in the English language. Sholes then located the combinations as far apart from each other on the keyboard as possible, and assigned their operation to the weakest of human fingers. Success! The Type-Writing Machine operator was compelled to slow down to the primitive machine's pace; key jam-ups were effectively designed out, and Sholes went on to obtain his patent. (It is interesting to note that 52% of all [the] English language is typed on the top row of letter-keys, and the top row (except for an extra Q, U and O) is extracted from none other than the word "typewriter")." Regarding the Dvorak layout, the same article states: "It was the result of a decade of physiological/language research, 250 design iterations and two sizable grants from the Carnegie foundation." Also: "Shole's legacy would have a full-time typist move his or her fingers as many as 20 miles during an eight-hour shift, but Dvorak reduces that to just one mile."
I do not plan to press the matter of the QWERTY layout as a purposeful handicap. But, should you care to add any of this material to the Wikipedia page, please note that, while perhaps there are typogaphical errors of which I am unaware, in transcribing the material I have been careful to maintain the wording, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation of the original articles, even in instances in which these items are questionable. However, please note that words in square brackets ([like this]) have been added by me.

Otheruses template
Why do you call {{otheruses}} a "hideous offensive template"? You have now removed it twice from the mathematics article, and I would like to know why. "Other senses" of the word would imply alternate definitions, in fact the disambig page is just a link to a producer and some other religious thing. —Mets501 (talk) 02:07, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- Why it's offensive is something I've stated many times; see that template's talk page. Numerous "otherses" templates now exist, and I've seen one that gives results that almost look like something an intelligent person could condone, but actual intelligence is better than choosing from among hundreds of individually unadaptable templates. removed city
Hi.
Regarding your last message about recently removed content from 'Largest cities of the European Union by population within city limits' article, I removed Novi Sad with reason (sorry for making edit without explanation), it was my mistake done in an update I made earlier today. That city couldn't get into top 100 cities in enlarged EU (the smallest city on the list is Wiesbaden in Germany with population of 274,318 and Novi Sad has population of 216,583).

I don't believe edit summaries (beyond section titles) are necessary for messages left on the reference desk. It's not common practice and nobody really complains about it because it doesn't make any difference, though only on the reference desk. freshofftheufoΓΛĿЌ 01:51, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Solaris Operating Environment
Hello,
