Speedy deletion nomination of Patricia Meyerowitz[edit]

Hello Meyerowitz,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Patricia Meyerowitz for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Kges1901 (talk) 18:45, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

January 2015[edit]

Information icon Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Patricia Meyerowitz. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Easton, Pennsylvania. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. I am new to Wikipedia. My name is not Meyerowitz. I am adding the details of someone who I think is important in the field of Constructivist art, in particular jewellery. Meyerowitz has 2 pieces of jewellery in the V and A museum in London and is an important contributor to the field of jewellery making in the 20th century Meyerowitz (talk) 21:32, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

All biographies, indeed all articles, on Wikipedia, require some references from reliable sources. I didn't nominate this for deletion, although I would have if someone had not beat me to it. To have an article on Wikipedia, you have to have references in the article showing that reliable secondary sources have made note of her in detail. It appears there are sources talking about her, from what you put on the talkpage, however, if they are talking about her in detail is still up for debate. I kinda doubt this will get speedied, but it will almost certainly be nominated for WP:AFD, where a debate will take place on the notability of the subject of the article will take place. You need to get some references on the article asap. If you don't know how, I will leave you some instructions, and a link to a Q&A forum for new editors. I would also suggest you change your username at WP:CHU, as it makes you look like you are promoting her by having it. John from Idegon (talk) 21:50, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Adding references can be easy[edit]

Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Hello! Here's how to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain the Wikipedia policy of verifiability.

Adding well formatted references is actually quite easy:

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "Cite". Click on it.
  2. Then click on "Templates".
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and fill in as many details as you can. This will add a well formatted reference that is helpful in case the web URL (or "website link") becomes inactive in the future.
  4. Click on Preview when you're done filling out the 'Cite (web/news/book/journal)' to make sure that the reference is correct.
  5. Click on Insert to insert the reference into your editing window content.
  6. Click on Show preview to Preview all your editing changes.
  • Before clicking on Save page, check that a References header   ==References==   is near the end of the article.
  • And check that   {{Reflist}}    is directly underneath that header.
7.  Click on Save page. ...and you've just added a complete reference to a Wikipedia article.

You can read more about this on Help:Edit toolbar or see this video File:RefTools.ogv.
Hope this helps, --John from Idegon (talk) 21:50, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article Patricia Meyerowitz has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. -- GB fan 00:16, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Patricia Meyerowitz requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
