We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

Often, academics do not have good secondary sources, instead they are judged by international awards,

number of citations and their impact on the scientific community.

Only one of the eight criteria is required to meet Wikipedia's notability requirements.

Dmitry meets three of the eight criteria.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment.
