Help request[edit]

{{adminhelp}}

I've noticed some information that is classified due to its sensitivity with the British Ministry of Defence. Can it be deleted?

Where is it? Please give links to the article, and link to the external site if applicable.  Chzz  ►  01:15, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is supposed to be classified information.

Everything seems to be referenced to publicly accessible sites. What exactly is it you feel is classified, and what do you want us to do about it if it is? Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:19, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I work for the company that manages that system. You need a bunch of clearance just to be able to access it. That information shouldn't be on a public accessable websites. Just because it's on websites, doesn't mean that It should be. Can it be deleted? It's sensitive information.

Please "sign" your name at the end of messages, by typing ~~~~ (four tilde signs) - this will add your username and the date/time.
All information on Wikipedia should come from reliable sources. In this case, the reference cited is this article in Computer Weekly. If there are any specific parts of the article that you think are not referenced, please could you give us information on which parts, and explain where it says that it is classified information. Thanks,  Chzz  ►  01:27, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've asked some other admins about this, and they recommend you email our OTRS team at info-en@wikimedia.org . They'll be able to take a closer look into things and work with you to see what action, if any, should be taken. They have handled similar requests before, and should be able to help you out. I can only assume that it has been leaked.... So it woldn't say anywhere that it was classified would it? All I can give you is my knowledge that it is classified information relating to the MOD and that it shouldn't be on a public website. I have no idea what the Government may take if they were to find out... Would it not be better to delete it and save yourselves from any consequences? Due to the complexity of this potentially legal issue, could you please contact the Wikimedia Foundation directly, via Contact us/Article problem. It is not something that we can deal with via an 'adminhelp' request. Thanks,  Chzz  ►  01:35, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Another of our helpers just took a look around, and found a government report releasing most of this information to the public at [1]. In any event, we are volunteers, and unable to confirm what is and is not classified, nor is the Wikimedia Foundation responsible for the content here. If you feel there is a problem of this nature that needs addressing, you should contact OTRS as I mentioned above. Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:37, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome and introduction[edit]

Hi, Mightyafro. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  01:40, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014[edit]

Today's motto...

Marcet sine adversario virtus
("Valor becomes feeble without an opponent")

Nominate one today!

Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This message has been sent by pjoef on behalf of Motto of the Day to all editors of the English Wikipedia who are showing MOTD's templates on their pages, and to all the participants to MOTD: (page, template, and category).
