The Sadducees were a sect or group of Jews that was active in the the main centers of Hellenistic Judaism that were Alexandria (Egypt) and Antioch (now Southern Turkey), the two main Greek urban settlements of the Middle East and North Africa area, both founded at the end of the 4th century BCE in the wake of the conquests of Alexander the Great. In Alexandria, Eygpt, Shimon ben Shetach successfully completed the removal of the Sadducees (a sect which denied the Oral Torah and the authority of the Sages) who had dominated the Sanhedrin (Supreme Court), replacing them with his the Oral Torah replacing them with his Torah-loyal Pharisaic disciples, on the 28th of Tevet of the year 3680 from creation (81 BCE)

An introduction for explanation: Supposedly in 1505 Martin Luther's life took a dramatic turn. As the 21-year-old Luther fought his way through a severe thunderstorm on the road to Erfurt, a bolt of lightning struck the ground near him. "Help me, St. Anne!" Luther screamed. "I will become a monk!" The scrupulous Luther fulfilled his vow: he gave away all his possessions and entered the monastic life.
Martin's father saw this as a waste of his son's education. In accordance with his father's wishes, in 1501, at the age of 17, he entered the University of Erfurtin law school that year but dropped out almost immediately, believing that law represented uncertainty. He later described this as a beerhouse and whorehouse.

Danger and the unexpected[edit]
It is interesting within nature parents of creatures often care for and protect their off spring. Parent birds protect even their unhatched chicks. There is a survival instinct and an acceptance of danger and death. Still there is animal infanticide. See:Infanticide (zoology). We live in a high-risk environment. We have to accept the fact of uncertainty and learn to live with it. First, among humans birth defects are the leading cause of infant deaths, accounting for 20% of all infant deaths. I met a young woman who could not cope with doing ultrasound of yet to be born infants. Too many were deformed. She was employed doing ultrasound of male testicles and found peace. Then check out: Pandemics and Plagues and Peoples by William H. McNeill. There have been five great extinctions. Still there is life on Earth. (See: Extinction event, Effects and recovery) Generally parents and adults care more about the future, health, safety of children than they do about themselves. Humans create various philosophies and religions that supply a comfortable acceptance of death. Yet, they will attempt to save lives, a complete contradiction of dying and going to a "better place"; the "other world". I prefer the ancient term, Cloud cuckoo land. There seems to be a growing number of popular admired chatterboxes that deny the freedom of will and the reality of individual conscious self. They enjoy stating these are illusions. Perhaps I am wrong but these wackadoodles do not seem to be professionals with hands on experience in the study of the critical history of human behavior involved with an unlimited number of clients or patients day after day. Perhaps too, personal creativity, talents, individual decisions, determination, personality, boundaries, compassion, loss, etc. do not exist. Yet, this seems doubtful. At least to a grunt like me. A professor of literature not an archaeologist[edit]
Professor Richard Elliott Friedman is a professor of literature at the University of California, San Diego https://act.ucsd.edu/directory/faculty_staff?list_code=8577&blinkref=&entryparam=richard%20%20friedman He is not an archaeologist. It is doubtful he is qualified to of speak of the Biblical Exodus and archaeology. He seems to be totally unaware of the book, Exodus: The Egyptian Evidence edited by Ernest S. Freichs and Leonard H. Dear User:Editor2020,I disagree with you archaeology is not Friedman's field. Participating in a dig does not make one an archaeologist. You are only a laborer, a helper, for a trained archaeologist. Friedman is a professor or literature. This is the reason behind Friedman's book on the documentary (fact) hypothesis. Look carefully at the Noah story in Genesis it is obvious there are TWO versions. There are TWO versions of the number of creatures taken into the ark, an obvious doublet. I highly recommend "On Genesis: A New Reading" by Bruce Vawter, Doubleday & Co, (1977), also follow the latest discoveries in ancient archaeology from critical archaeologists. I suggest William G. He does NOT teach archaeology. How can he possibly present evidence from BOTH text and archaeology that Exodus is a HISTORICAL FACT as he claims? Archaeology is NOT his field. Beneficial: a human conclusion. John, Peter, and Book of Revelation disfavor[edit]
A miracle or "good luck" is a human conclusion reached a AFTER a beneficial, actual or supposed, event has occurred. An example is a single child surviving a catastrophic plane crash where the "miracle child" was the only survivor. Another example is the raising of Lazarus, the 7th, last and climatic, sign performed by Jesus. (This miracle ONLY appears in the Gospel of John 11:1-44 and no others). Adolph von Harnack rejected the historicity of the Gospel of John. The sisters of Lazarus, Mary and Martha, appear in both the Gospel of John and the Gospel of Luke. These two Gospels are the last to be composed. I find it very interesting that the Gospel of John is popularized as a first-hand eye witness historic account by those unfamiliar with critical Biblical scholarship and the historical evolution of Christology. The Gospel of John is grandiose from the very beginning: "And the Word was made flesh and dwelled among us." (John 1:14) Also too, in the Gospel of John the resurrection of the Son of man, Jesus, is compared with Nehushtan the bronze snake raised by Moses.(John 3:14-16) (2 Kings 18:4) and (Numbers 21: 4-9). (John 3:16) is very selectively popular, not the proceeding two verses. As stated on my user page I am not fond of brevity. So it goes. Pheme Perkins has pointed out there is not a favorite disciple in the Gospel of Mark, the earliest Gospel. If John was the last living disciple and was popularly expected to be still alive when Jesus returned (BOTH EVENTS DID NOT OCCUR) perhaps this was the reason John was called the disciple Jesus loved. Then too, John may have been the fleeing naked young man (Mark 14:51-52). The other later Gospels fail to mention this peculiar incident for some reason or another. The later Gospels (but not Mark) also fail to mention Jesus disowns his own mother and brothers who are convinced he has lost his mind. The Denial of Peter appears differently in all the Gospels. The prediction, made by Jesus during the Last Supper that Peter would deny and disown him, appears in the Gospel of Matthew 26:33–35, the Gospel of Mark 14:29–31, the Gospel of Luke 22:33–34 and the Gospel of John. 13:36–38 is most likely Vaticinium ex eventu. Eusebius of Caesarea did not favor including the Book of Revelation in the New Testament. Dean Radin (born February 29, 1952) is a researcher and author in the field of parapsychology.He is Senior Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, in Petaluma,California, USA, on the Adjunct Faculty at Sonoma State University,on the Distinguished Consulting Faculty at Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center, and former, four-time President of the Parapsychological Association.
BIOGRAPHY: Dean Radin played the violin from the age of five, and worked as a professional classical violinist for five years. He earned an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and both a master's degree in electrical engineering and a doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Dean Radin worked at AT&T Bell Labs and Verizon Communications#GTE/GTE Labs, mainly on human factors of advanced telecommunications products and services, and then held appointments at Princeton University, Edinburgh University, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, SRI International, Interval Research Corporation, and Boundary Institute. At these facilities he was engaged in basic research on exceptional human capacities, principally psi phenomena.
In 1988, 1993, 1998, and 2005 Radin was the elected President of the Parapsychological Association, an "AFFILIATE" of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has published numerous scientific papers as well as articles and books written for a popular audience: "The Conscious Universe" (1997) and "Entangled Minds" (2006). "The Conscious Universe" (1997, HarperCollins) was awarded Amazon.com's 1998 Category Bestseller Award, the Scientific and Medical Network 1997 Book Award, and the "Anomalist"'s 1997 Book Award, and as of 2006 was in its 16th printing. It proved to be popular and has been translated into Turkish, Korean and French, with several other translations.
RESEARCH: Radin has conducted parapsychological research in several areas, drawing the personal conclusion that psychic phenomena exist. However, Radin's research has failed to capture the attention of mainstream science and the scientific community as a whole, who support Scientific modelling/ mainstream models incompatible with, and often contradictory to, Radin's conclusions. Remote healing: Subjects constructed clay dolls of themselves. His research showed that the subjects' blood and nerve activity increases when a "healer" 100 yd away massaged the dolls. Radin also tested Umbanda mediums in Brazil, who attempted to send healing thoughts to American subjects at UNLV. Psychokinesis: In 2000 Radin attended a spoon bending party. To his surprise the spoon he was holding started to bend. The bowl momentarily felt like putty. Using one finger and thumb he easily pinched the end of the bowl over, nearly bending the bowl to half its length. Dean had decided in advance that the only bend he might find interesting would be of the bowl of a spoon, because to do this without tools and/or leverage is beyond the capability of most people, including himself. Kinesiology: Radin ran double-blind and triple-blind trials with 58 adults using vials of sugar and sand and a dynamometer, which measures a hand's grip strength. Remote viewing and future machines: While Dean Radin was at the Conscious Research Laboratory, University of Nevada, Las Vegas he worked with remote viewer Joseph McMoneagle. Radin conceptualized a future machine that as yet did not exist. McMoneagle used his remote viewing into the future in an effort to obtain information concerning this machine to produce patentable ideas. HISTORICAL: About the famous Indian rope trick Radin says,"There are all these classic cases of the fakirs throwing the rope in the air and the little boy climbs up to the top and disappears and all kinds of magical things happen. They were watching the fakir just stand there with his arms folded and the little boy standing there and the rope is on the ground and nothing happened." In a lecture to the New York Theosophy Society, Secret Doctrine Class, Radin stated Eastern yogis could see into the past, present and future, read another person's mind, and levitate. Radin asked his audience,"What do they know that we don't know?" Radin also has a positive interest in using remote viewing for psychic archaeology, his preferred name now being "intuitive archaeology." Visiting Moses[edit]
Back in the 70's while doing some historical research I was invited to a local Jewish library. Material on Moses was in the fiction section. I found this very interesting since Christians stress Moses as a historical figure. This has always struck me as being a bit ODD: Moses' staff (obviously a magic wand), the 7 or 10 plagues, the parting of the red or reed sea, (My favorite OVERLOOKED version of this story is the one where the Egyptians troops pursue the Moses escapees in BOATS! See: Canaanite Myth and Hebrew Epic: Essays in the history and the religion of Israel by Frank Moore Cross, Harvard University Press, 1973), the receiving of the 10 commandments (Exodus 20:2-17), their destruction (Exodus 32:19), and REVISION usually NOT accepted (Exodus 34:1-26) and the STRANGE time line of taking 40 YEARS to cross the Sinai desert when Yahweh is GUIDING them with divine signs both day and night. They are lead to the promised land of Canaan, a land inhabited by terrible cannibal giants (Numbers 13:1-33) where Moses' The Twelve Spies are the size of INSECTS!! Do you find the detail that Moses was 120-years-old at the time of death, and was apparently in his 80s at the time of the Exodus particularly believable?

Dear Dimadick, I prefer fantasy rather than myth. The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night A.K.A. The Arabian Nights Entertainments contain a few stories that are also in the Bible. Theology is a firm foundation in both collections. It is odd this is not frequently recognized by inquiring readers as both originated as oral traditions to teach life lessons while enchanting the listener as was observed by the famous adventurer Richard F. The Curious Raising of Lazarus and No Others[edit]
The curious Raising of Lazarus (John 11:1-44) confuses me. Why ONLY Lazarus? Supposedly at the Marriage at Cana (John 2:1-11) Jesus' mother, Mary, is a widow because St. Joseph does not appear in her company. If Joseph had been a father to Jesus and died why hadn't he been brought back to life like Jesus does with Lazarus? Then there is John the Baptist, a fellow Jesus seems to admire. After John the Baptist is killed by being beheaded why doesn't Jesus raise him from the dead? Again why only Lazarus? Why is Jesus so picky? Miistermagico (talk) 15:39, 14 April 2019 (UTC)
Upper Room Suspicions and the Mythology of Today[edit]
I suspect, though I do not know, all Cenacle, or popularly known Upper Room, incidents occurring in Jerusalem are not historical but are instead fictional theological constructions established by the emerging Christian community. I base this on the absence of stories establishing the ownership of this (two level?) residence and the necessary meal preparations in the New Testament. Also Jesus' prediction of Judas' betrayal (Matthew 26:23-25) and as earlier stated the prediction, made by Jesus during the Last Supper that Peter would deny and disown him, appearing in the Gospel of Matthew 26:33–35, the Gospel of Mark 14:29–31, the Gospel of Luke 22:33–34 and the Gospel of John. 13:36–38 both are most likely Vaticinium ex eventu. The Incredulity of Thomas episode related in (John 20:24-29) though not in the other three synoptic Gospels (Thomas WIMPS OUT and NEVER does physically examine Jesus' wounds fulfilling his vow) and the Pentecost miracles, the rushing wind (the breath of Yahweh ), the cloven tongues of fire, and the ability to speak in other languages (Acts 2:1-12) are also most unlikely historical incidents. Instead they are fictional theological constructions established by the emerging Christian community. The addition of predictions, miracles, magic add wonder and mystery to stories and make them more memorable. Some say science fiction is the mythology of today. Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Witchcraft. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. I don't know if you have a personal, WP:COI connection to any of these publishers, or if you just like adding lists or collections, but Wikipedia is not a random collection of data.
