Blowout (sports)‎[edit]

At Blowout (sports)‎ you added content that needs a copyedit. What does the phrase "a school for the" mean?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 14:51, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Whoops. I meant "a school for students with learning disabilities." I made the fix.--Mike Selinker (talk) 16:31, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There's no harm in using non-standard type parameters in album infoboxes where appropriate. The colouration shows it as a studio album, so there is no harm in being a little more specific. J Milburn (talk) 18:46, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shit, didn't realise that the non-standard cat was a subcat of the needing attention cat. Right, thanks, I will raise it at WT:ALBUMS. J Milburn (talk) 18:55, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a look[edit]

Norwegian user categories[edit]

I was not aware that I was supposed to contact you about this [1] before posting; another user even had to move it after I posted in the wrong place. I apologize. The main point is there was a misunderstanding: Nobody involved knew the difference between nb and no is exactly the same as the difference between nn and no. Please have a look.--Gamlevegen (talk) 12:33, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

==Proposed deletion of Incompatible Food Triad==

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Incompatible Food Triad, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

poorly sourced semi-nonsensical essay

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Tribute album change[edit]

Thanks, Mike for making the change on No Prima Donna: The Songs of Van Morrison. I wasn't aware of this changeover. How do we handle the wording in the discography template now - as on above article at bottom? Do we leave tribute albums in this with the listing as they are now? Van Morrison template at bottom of article. Agadant (talk) 22:30, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chicago -> Chicago, Illinois CfDs[edit]

You can probably find all the categories you might want to CFD at WP:CHIBOTCATS.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 22:55, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • That is very helpful. Thanks so much.--Mike Selinker (talk) 22:58, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Would you be able to update some of the new cat names on this page so our bot can hunt for articles for us. I have not been following all your CFDs.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 02:39, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • So done. I will update the others when the rest of the nominations conclude.--Mike Selinker (talk) 06:46, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming city/state categories[edit]

Hi Mike: I see you have proposed renaming a whole host of city/state categories. It's probably best to get this done. However on almost every nomination there is no nomination entry to read the discussion. It's beeen a few days since these nominations began appearing. Thanks. Americasroof (talk) 13:01, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see they were hidden in the nomination and you had to hit the blue plus. Never mind ;-) Americasroof (talk) 13:57, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
De nada.--Mike Selinker (talk) 15:58, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cfd[edit]

Category:Jewish day schools in Chicago is tagged but not listed. Occuli (talk) 12:36, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • So it is. Could you move it next to the last 2 so that unobservant people like me will spot it? (It's an upmerge IMO, to 2 or 3 targets.) Occuli (talk) 12:48, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

D––n[edit]

When I saw this on the CfD page table of contents, I thought for a split second that someone had actually nominated Category:People. But no. Shucks. Good Ol’factory (talk) 08:23, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Close of Culture[edit]

While we don't normally notify a nominator about a closure, considering the close itself, I thought I'd make an exception. - jc37 07:54, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Las Vegas category renames[edit]

When you make this proposal, it your proposal renames to 'Las Vegas metropolitan area' it would be a lot better. I say this knowing that most of the articles are not about the city. Las Vegas is a general term that cover an area larger then the city. In fact the best known feature of Vegas, the strip, is not in the city. If there is a need to create a city category this could be done at a later time. Vegaswikian (talk) 22:10, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are indeed sadistic[edit]

[2]

I only got one of them (even having cheated at the president one and still not getting it), and wasted a lot of time I should have been working. Good job! --Kbdank71 17:18, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm a professional sadist. Here on Wikipedia, I'm an amateur humanitarian. It balances out.--Mike Selinker (talk) 18:36, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, just got another one, the LED sodoku one. These are great. I saw the interview too. Good sell, makes me want to get the magazine. I had to rewind it a few times because I thought I misheard you when you said "it could be a six or it could be a nine". --Kbdank71 03:39, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's the only thing I wish I could do over again. Because there are no nines in that puzzle.--Mike Selinker (talk) 05:07, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sigh - disappointed. (Technical reasons prevent viewing atm). But as someone who enjoys puzzles, I'll have to check those out.
Did either of you see Sunday's Fox Trot? Nothing fancy, but cute nonetheless : ) - jc37 05:14, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Fancy enough. Love it.--Mike Selinker (talk) 05:23, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nod. It was definitely a keeper.
I looked to see if I could find an online link to it, but came up empty. It isn't at comics.com, for example. - jc37 05:49, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's the front page one at foxtrot.com.--Mike Selinker (talk) 05:52, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well that was real obvious. Don't I feel foolish : )
And thanks, I've added that to my comic strip sites list : ) - jc37 06:03, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The term "Epee-Fleche" may be revealing: You admonished this user on the account's discussion page for reverse-anti-Semitism (@ CfD). Please also be aware others have complained of 3 related sock-puppets: 68.173.101.114, Ethelh, Epeefleche. Further "they" apparently have listed a number of their articles for GA/FA review, but then won't respond after reviewers contribute criticisms. Where do I go, who do I complain to for "Abuse of Review process"? Hilarleo Hey,L.E.O. 18:08, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I saw that you created this category and added a documentary and a concert video to it. I thought a video album was a collection of music videos, much like a (record) album is a collection of songs. Then I saw the description of Category:AC/DC video albums, which says it includes all home VHS and DVD releases. Are the "video album" categories intended for all band-related films, regardless of genre (album, concert video, documentary)? Thank you. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 00:09, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Keith Moon albums, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Keith Moon may have started working on another solo album after Two Sides Of The Moon, but that was never released. He released only one solo album

You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:Category:Keith Moon albums|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. 123.236.27.175 (talk) 11:26, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I removed your deletion tag, for the following reasons: First, there's no such thing as "speedy deletion" for categories; every category you wish to delete needs to be put up on Wikipedia:Categories for Discussion. Second, it's the wrong tag; if you're going to nominate a category for deletion, you need {{subst:cfd}}, and then enter it in the daily log on Categories for Discussion with {{subst:Cfd2|ObsoleteCategory|text=Your reason(s) for the proposed deletion. ~~~~}}. Third, it's almost certainly not going to pass. Category:Albums by artist has a long-established rule that all single-artist albums need an "(X) albums" category, and so there are many hundreds of single-album categories that are part of that tree. It's a rare instance on Wikipedia of allowed categories for only one or two entries each. I hope that helps, and I thank you for trying to make Wikipedia better.--Mike Selinker (talk) 14:07, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
