Speedy deletion of Michael varady[edit]

A tag has been placed on Michael varady requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Mr mark taylor (talk) 05:16, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on The Chosen One (novel), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of The Chosen One (novel) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. CalendarWatcher (talk) 06:07, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i do not understand why you have labeled my page as advertising. it is simply an article explaining about a book. it is no different to the 'harry potter' page, where it to is explaining about a book or series of books. the only difference is that the harry potter page is bigger in size to the chosen one page, and that is because it is more widely known, and i have not had the time to include more on the chosen one page. please reply

--Mikeyv92 (talk) 06:30, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course it was advertising: it was advertising your own book. As for your comparison with the Harry Potter books, please note that purpose of Wikipedia is not to create notability (as you were doing) but to document it (as the Harry Potter books clearly have). Please see Wikipedia:Notability (books) for details, as well as Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. --CalendarWatcher (talk) 09:10, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Chosen One (novel) / speedy[edit]

Hiya,

I must admit that "Speedy deletion of Why the admin on wikipedia suck" did make me giggle, BUT it's not gonna help your case!

I am sorry the article got deleted; I chose not to tag it as such, because, although it needed improvement, I certainly don't think it was 'advertizing'.

You do need to establish notability, though. It's not quite the same as Harry Potter, because that article has references to some 100-odd 'reliable sources'. If you could quote 1 or 2 reasonable mentions of it, on news sites or something, then that would be enough to satisfy the WP:NOTABLE criteria.

Good luck, anyway - and if there's anything I can do to help out, please ask me on my own talk page.

Cheers, --  Chzz  ►  09:14, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again,
Well, I've just checked the link about the book, and I see that it's not published, and not mentioned anywhere significant on the net; so, I'm sorry, but it's just not notable enough to have an article on wikipedia.
Sorry about that.
I hope you'll consider contributing to other articles instead?

The Chosen One[edit]

To explain why your article will continue to be deleted - A novel that you are in the process of writing does not belong on Wikipedia. We do not have articles on every little novel that every teenager has thought up and attempted to start writing down. We only include important, published novels, from authors that are known. We are not a directory of everything everyone can imagine.

If you continue to attempt to recreate an article about your story, it is very possible that you could be banned from Wikipedia. Please contribute to Wikipedia elsewhere by working on established articles or adding articles that are worthy of being here. The359 (talk) 09:26, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Robyn Collier[edit]

A tag has been placed on Robyn Collier, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Irene McCormack[edit]

Hi there. In June & July 2008 you made significant edits and added content to Irene McCormack, in particular to the circumstances surrounding her death. However, you failed to add any citations to this content. Would you please review the section on her death and add references, if you still have access to them; or respond here and provide a list of your sources. Thanks.
