August 2021[edit]

A page you created has been nominated for deletion because it is a biography of a living person that is entirely negative in tone and has unsourced content, according to section G10 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

Do not create articles about living people that are entirely negative in tone and unsourced. Wikipedia has a policy of verifiability and any negative information we use must be reliably sourced, and our articles must be balanced. Negative, unreferenced biographies of living people, along with attack pages, are not tolerated by Wikipedia, and users who create or repost such pages and images in violation of our biographies of living persons policy may be blocked from editing. Hello GorillaWarfare,
By creating a page about the Controversy over academic freedom at the University of Ottawa, I was trying to ask for the translation of the page Polémique sur la liberté académique à l'Université d'Ottawa from the French Wikipedia. The debate in question has raised a lot of media controversy and I think it would be useful to add it to the English Wikipedia page. I am surprised that you deleted my draft, even though I did not have time to complete and submit it for validation. I am even more surprised that you marked it as one of those "Pages that disparage, threaten, intimidate, or harass their subject or some other entity, and serve no other purpose". It would be interesting if the encyclopedia would document the heated debate at the University of Ottawa in a neutral way. If you could help me to create the page, I would be grateful. English is not my first language, so of course I would be happy if you could help me remove anything unintentionally derogatory or non-neutral in the wording of my stub.--Milano-2018-10-16 (talk) 02:22, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The issue with the page is that it contained negative information about a living person without any reliable sourcing. If you wish to try again with the draft, please ensure you include sourcing for any and all negative or contentious material. However, you might have more success if you suggest it as an addition to University of Ottawa rather than creating a separate standalone page. Ok, thanks for the clarification and the quick response!--Milano-2018-10-16 (talk) 02:30, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
